I just recently started up Demon's Soul and damn it is one tough game. At any point if you die you start at the beginning of the level and every enemy respawns. If you get back to your body you can retrieve all your lost souls (currency), but if not you lose it all. And with 5 boards and multiple parts and bosses to each, but no linear reasoning for which levels to do (besides lack of equipment to proceed.)

I've probably lost over 50k + in the game currency, and can't remember being this frustrated in a game in a long time. But, for some reason I keep turning it back on and playing it. Any one else play and/or beat this one?

Ive heard so many things that deter me about this game, the immensely hard difficulty, the die and go back to your body to die and lose everything, the thing that killed you is still hovering over your body when you come back, other people can join your game at any time and kill you, etc etc... nothing that i heard of with that game ever attracted me to that game. Its quite a quandary to me how most people love the hell out of it. I hate hate hate really really hard frustrating games. Dont get me wrong, I love a challenge, but most of the time when I game, I go for a relaxed enjoying experience where I get a nice story or some fun frantic action. Nothing to the point of hulk smash rage because ive died the umpteenth time on the same friggin guy and lose all my stash.

There is a sort of sequel coming out in a year or so called Dark Souls, which from what little ive heard is very much like the original.

I'm curious if at some point it is worth going back and playing Knights of the Old Republic since i missed out on that gen of gaming. Anybody a big fan? did it age well? i always hear amazing things about it.

man.. a great game is a great game, no matter how old.

video games don't have the same problems as some movies or shows do.. Like when I watch an old movie sometimes it is not as good as I remember.. but usually the case is it never was a good movie, I was just too much of a dumb kid to realize it at the time.

I still like to old games, I just usually don't because I have new games to play that I haven't played yet. for example, a little while ago my nephew was playing Zelda:Ocarina of Time... that game is pretty old now (Nintendo 64), but it is still as fun as any game I have played recently or ever.. I could play the entire thing again and love it.. but I have a lot of games that I haven't played through yet.

In the last few months I played the first Jak and Daxter, and the first few Ratchet and Clank games (PS2), and they still rock even without the mind-blowing graphics of today's games.

I'd like to play starcontroll 2 & 3 again but have no idea how I'd do that on such a modern pc. They were also designed to be played on older windows versions as well so no clue how that would work ....

I was turned off from Demon's Souls because of no true co-op play... Hopefully the sequel will have that...

I'm currently, slowly and painstakingly, trudging my way through it. It's more of an ego thing at this point. I don't want a game's trophy to say 1%. But, seriously, hardest game I have ever played so far (on first play through). And I usually replay most games through hard/insane/etc...

Lol, am I the only one still playing Black Ops? Just started my third round of prestige mode...

I still play, just not as often as I used to with the older COD titles. Plus I have alot of titles I go back and forth with. Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV, and Red Dead Redemption are few of the games I like to revisit quite often. Along with any adventure game that Im working on at the time.

I picked up crysis 2, so far I am regretting it. Its slow and boring and I dont care for the weapons or destruction effects. They lack ooomph...hopefully it gets better, the only highlight was getting the 4000 points card at Kmart for $20 with it. I bought torchlight and that is some plenty good looty fun.

I would place demons souls as one of the best games this console generation. You have to be a certain type of player to not hate it though...I dont mean "l33t" or "hardcore" either. If you enjoy loot games, and once you get that "fools rush in" you'll have a better time. I dont know what the community is like now, but it was cool when it first came out. People left helpful meassages, PVP was actually skill based..etc.

Looking through the DS boards now, it seems the community is infested with all the glitchers/griefers/jumper/campers...etc of the FPS scene. Also people have invested much time into finding ways to break the game.
