so, weve all seen what DC's doing with the lanterns in the books, and we see what mattel's doing figure wise, but what's next? the "color of fear" pack insures the release of Tomar re, but how far is mattel willing to go with this? another question is, will mattel flood the upcoming waves with GL related characters? how much is too much?

I'm an easy mark for any Green Lantern figure. I hope they keep going and crank out big names like Guy Gardner and Kyle Raynor right down to the lower tier GL's like Stel, the Green Man, and Arkkis Chummock!

The GLC is also a natural for another five pack. Given though that those five packs are largely repaints with maybe one new figure ala Lex Luthor thrown in just to insure a little demand, Im guessing a GL 5 pack would look something like this...

1. Modern Hal Jordan (The green ends at the waist.) or possibly Hal as a Blue, Red or any other Lantern.

2. Sinestro in Green Lantern Uniform

3. Tomar Re (Romat Ru's head on a GL body obviously)

4. Possibly Arisa using a female head on a Katma Tui body)

5. The original figure is a real wildcard. I doubt it'd be a big name like Guy Gardner or Kyle Raynor since either of them could anchor an entire wave all their own. It could be a lower tier GL like Stel or the Green Man or it might be a GL villain like Doctor Polaris or Goldface.

Guy is great, so was kyle! There are quite a few different versions of kyle that they could do! Personally I'd hope they skip his first outfit @loll@ there are a couple versions of ion I'd like to see as well as the more modern version we have seen in recent comics

Considering we're not getting any GL characters in Waves 12 or 13, it doesn't seem like Mattel is doing anything with Green Lantern as an ongoing thing. When Wave 11 was announced, everyone assumed GL was going to replace the 4th World as DCUC's new running subset. But now it seems, starting with Wave 10, that Mattel will be alternating Metal Men and Doom Patrol, while not completely giving up on the 4th World.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a GL surge from DCUC. DC Direct is sewing up the market with their GL stuff in a very timely manner and producing some great figures (many of whom are firsts--i.e. first time the character is made into a figure). I have to admit, I was shocked that Mattel made the Color of Fear 2-pack. Don't get me wrong...I'm thrilled they are making figures that DC Direct wasn't making so they can supplement the GL line. Blackest Night is DC's biggest goldmine at the moment (and with good reason) and if DC Direct is smart they won't allow Mattel access to some of these characters for awhile.

Umm, no, the 4th World slot has basically become the "Super Powers" slot from Wave 11 on. We got one Doom Patrol member in 10, none in 11, one Metal Man in 12, and one Doom Patrol member in 13...that doesn't really seem like a pattern to me.

I mean, by the logic of combining two unrelated franchises, you could say that there's now a Titans/Metal Man slot...a Titan in 10, a Metal Man in 12, and a Titan in 13! It all makes sense!

So, that last sentence...does DC Direct get "dibs" or something? Sinestro in his yellow outfit and Tim Drake in his B:TAS outfit seemed to come out around the same time. Same with Super Powers-style Luthor and Brainiac a few years back. There didn't seem to be a big gap between some of the others either(unmasked Slade, Black Lightning, Dr. Impossible).

I would hate it if Mattel can't make Fire and Ice because DC Direct just made them.

I'm really shocked Guy hasn't been made. I'm not a big fan of his (tho during SCW and now BL, he's catching on with me), but he's a very popular character.

Of course, they haven't done a MM yet so who the heck knows.

Well, Guy is my most-wanted DCU figure, but of the four Earth Lanterns(Alan doesn't count), he'll always come fourth in the public's eyes.

Hal is THE definitive, classic Green Lantern for most people, and has come full circle to being one of DC's most prominent heroes once again.

Kyle was the only GL for years, so to a generation of fans, he's THE Green Lantern.

And John was one of the main characters in the Justice League cartoon.

So Guy will always finish last for most people. He's my personal favorite, though, mostly because of the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League issues. The one where he takes an unsuspecting Ice to a porno theater that just happens to be run by a retired hero-phobic Black Hand, the one where he decides to harass Kilowog, and the one where he gets beat up by a cat...great fun!

I was surprised to see Abin Sur and Katma Tui made first(Kilowog is big and cool, so no surprise there). I mean, making Abin Sur is like making a Jor-El or Uncle Ben...the dude dies a few pages into his first appearance. :P And Katma Tui died over 20 years ago, so she was a weird choice compared to Arisia or Soranik Natu.
