Mattel does monthly chats we all these sites where they see the backlash and they haven't done diddly about anything. Think about the internet concept, they have a website for information and they even have a newsletter, they hardly ever update the website and so far have only sent 1 newsletter, while they continuously update Facebook, that is backwards. Facebook is very particular and not everyone is on it, but most all fans are on Matty ordering figures.

 

Have you thought about how this looks from Mattel's perspective?

The big part of the problem is that Mattel get's conflicting information from people.

They get one part fulsome praise, and another part bitter criticism regarding the figures. On one hand the figures are "perfect" with no flaws, and on the other hand they fall apart or break easily and have numerous faults.

Some people can find every figure, and some never find them.

Which do they take seriously? The info doubtlessly tracks inconsistently all across the country, with people in the same region, even the same city reporting polar opposite claims--which would likely be from figures packed in the same shipments.

 

Add to that they enormously fickle nature of fans, who say they want "this", but when it comes out its nothing like what they wanted. How can Mattel be expected to sort through all that varying opinion?

 

They can't, so the trend seems to be the listen, but only selectively, and then they marginalize the rest of the input. They cannot serve every master, and the voices they hear only offer inconsistency.

 

As far as I see it, their only option is to selectively filter what input that comes their way and deal with it however they can.

There's always another side to this.

Everything you said was valid but check my post, does anything I mention excuse Mattel from how they have handled the line? They have a website that lacks info, a non functioning newsletter since day one, its been over a year now, exclusives that really burnt the fans up.

 

I don't usually go to stores to find my figures, I order online, but if I did go by the stores, i would never finish the waves I have except Waves 4/5/6/7 they were the only ones I ever saw every figure in the stores and for wave 7 I just saw Flash after all these months, lucky me I ordered my sets so it was no worry.

So this weekend I checked 9 walmarts and here's what I found:

 

Dumfries, VA - OLD Figures

Woodbridge, VA - OLD Figures

Gettysburg, PA - nothing

Sunbury, PA - nothing

Lewisburg, PA - old figures

Gang Mills, NY - nothing

Warsaw, NY - nothing

Vestal, NY - old figures

Batavia, NY - old figures

 

If anyone can help me out with a few figures (I really want 1 set), please let me know. Thanks!

so I decided to hit 2 of my local walmarts tonight before i hit the bed, i thought i was feeling lucky because I saw a bunch of pallets in the toy section. again, there was NOT A F***N DC Wave 10 figs. i talked to the Walmart employee who was doing the stocking. he told me that a LOT of people are coming in night after night before Walmart closes. and also the fact that a lot of people coming in early in the morning asking for these DC figs.

 

this is becoming a Collector VS Scalper Vs Opportunist situation. a lot of opportunists are out there, they are not scalpers nor collectors but they just know for a fact that these figures are selling high on Ebay. i'm ready to raise the white flag on this wave. good luck to you guys. after 3 weeks of unsuccesful hunting, me & my car needs to rest. if anybody can hook me up with this wave will be appreciated. i have plenty to trade from Marvel legends, Transformers, MOTU, etc. good luck people!

 

btw, i am in Southern California. I was told there was a bald guy (who has a store, big time scalper/re-seller) that got lucky with this wave.

Robotman is outstanding especially with the removable top that reveals his brain and Forager fills out the New Gods.

Anyhow not really trying I guess. Haven't been to a Wal Mart in days! But I would still want this wave, and if I don't find it, then I will give up the line, period!! No way I'm gonna miss out on the Joker and other crucial DC characters and continue supporting the line. It shouldn't have to be this hard, you know!!!

Just remember that Captain Cold, Cyborg and Firestorm are the hot ones right now, so youll want to buy up as much of those charecters as you can. Just a little tip.

These have hit Detroit MI area, my buddy found Joker, Batman and

Powergirl this morning- I hope we see more at more locations- going out everynight starting with tonight and do some pallet diving- keeping the faith alive in michigan

Robotman is outstanding especially with the removable top that reveals his brain and Forager fills out the New Gods.

 

I actually have Robotman and he is a very nice detailed fig, but I did not put him up because someone had offered a wave 5 Atom and I'm still deciding if I want to trade, I mean I really like Atom but robotman would look nice next Elastic girl if they release her. I passed on Forager because I really don't know much about him and I think it was better to leave him (hopefully) for a collector who is a big fan of his.

Death to scalpers! Seriously! I collect the figures to open up and put in my curio cabinet. I have all of waves 1-9, plus the variants that appeal to me. I want to know if Batman is the display stand because I don't want him if I don't need him for Imperiex.

Found wave 10 at the Galveston, TX Wal-Mart. I got all 7 figures. I am REALLY happy that the hunt for wave 10 is over for me! We had a doctors appointment for my little girl at the hospital. Left the hospital and made our way over to Wal-mart and the first one that caught my eye was Man-Bat. I looked through all of the pegs and saw all 10 figures.

He was the hardest one to find. I happened into a Target on a Sunday Morning after church one morning while the wife was shopping, and there he was...only took me 2 months to find him. I'll keep an eye out for you.
