Dyeing figures

Haven't done this per say but trying to get a specific color is hard to do, even with a white base figure.

 

In my experience, dying is good for 3 things...1) getting a base color before applying paint. 2) Coloring joints that won't rub away with time and use. 3) Making the whole figure black.

 

Still, you also have to clear coat it after the dye job or it will rub off on other parts and other figures. I learned this the hard way long ago. Good luck.

 

while we're talking about dyeing figures... has anyone tried to dye a white storm shadow teal with teal rit dye?

The verdict I reached is that you really don't get that good of results in dyeing figures that have been painted. Unpainted figures - ie a clear/translucent figure seems to take the dye the best. I've since tried painting over one of the figures that I dyed and the color constantly bleeds through.
