Arkham Asylum: BATMAN Game

but this game really does feel like an extension of Batman the Animated Series more than any of the new movies.

Personally I feel it's more comic book inspired than anything else. The only connection to the animated series is the voices which is a nice touch since comic books don't have voices and really why not use what some fans are familiar with?

But the voices to me is where the similarity ends. It's far too 'dark' to be cartoonish.

Y'know for a guy in tights that is......

Yeah, I may just be a sucker for the voices, to me, Conroy IS Batman, always will be, just like Hamil IS Joker (and who could imagine Harly Quinn with any other voice?) It's what I grew up on and whenever I read the comics, those are the voices I hear. Sorry Adam West.

It's definitely closer to the comic than anything...not to spoil for those that don't have the game, but who is Batman's "assistant" in the game? Don't think that person is in the comics or movies. That batmobile on the other hand reminds me of the first movie. The music sounds like it's from Batman Begins or TDK.

Assuming you mean Oracle, as others have pointed out she is the former Batgirl and is a very big part of the comics (as Oracle)

Yeah, I was trying not to spoil anything.

Oracle,....duh. @?@ You should realize who she is from her first few sentences in the game.

Anyway, I just got the game today and it's sooooo good. I wanna run around in bat PJ's like a little kid or something. @lol@

The voice acting alone sells the game for me because those actors for the main characters have been used in so much I'm familiar with, that I feel like I'm in one of the old Batman the Animated series shows or something. I LOOOOOOVE Mark as the Joker's voice he's my favorite! @jump# The game looks AWESOME! It took them like what 2yrs to finish this project? Well,...if they make anymore hero games this good it's worth the wait. I'm patient I can wait for good solid games like this one.

Hmmmm,....now if they can only do a descent Superman game. That last one somewhat based on the Supes returns movie took like 2 or three yrs to make and was still kinda crappy. I liked some of the game but they still didn't get it just right and I didn't like having to fight Metallo 500 times in the game,..stupid. @sad@

Anyway, yay for Batman, yay for Batman,... I think I have a Man crush on him or something LOL!

You're further than me...but I don't think by much from what I've heard. I'm just leaving the

place where all the super looneys were locked up (before Harley let them all out). I'm going to the garden now...and I've heard that before I fight Ivy, I have to fight Croc

Has anyone had a problem with it locking up? I finally am able to play it today and It has locked up me quite a few times in different spots in the game.

I just got my PS3, but I believe I had to download/install a new update when I did. you might check for updates first. Then take it back.

so, i finished all the riddles but you dont get anything special for. i hoped to play with the joker if i do all the riddles but all you get, is the joker figurine? all this work and time to watch a design of joker? you see him during the entire game and that is all we get. lame in a way. now i noticed by reading the manual that joker is a downloadeble character on the network. i havent checked it yet but i hope it is a free download and not a payable because that would be dumb. i hate all those downloading extras, you have to pay for. i mean put it on the disc and so we can keep it forever. my first play3 had a problem and after a while it broke. thank god i didnt download anything. it would all be lost. all the good money would be gone. anyway, this game is awesome, i realy enjoyed it. the end is a bit meh but all in all, it is a fantastic game. i hope for sequel. just imagine this in gotham city itself with harvey, man-bat, freeze. woah.

Finished the game yesterday afternoon. Given that I usually play RPGs it felt very short (and this was after finding all the trophies, riddles, teeth, and Arkham chronicles), but once I realized that the game is supposed to be happening in one night the length was actually good (in fact, if you don't go trophy hunting you could probably beat it in "real time" so to speak. Plus the challenge mode is more entertaining than I thought it'd be, so there's a little more gameplay value because of that.

Highly, HIGHLY recommended for any sort of Batman fan, and still recommended if you're a fan of good games in general.

With all the hoopla, I'm surprised someone doesn't/didn't have an exclusive DCUC figure (or set of figures) from the game. But I guess since it'd be hard to just recycle one of the same three or four bodies Mattel uses for the line into the more detailed game designs, that's probably out of the question (unless all the detail was just "painted on" which would look kinda lame).

You didn't see the big sticker thing on the cover saying, "PLAY AS JOKER!"? Or when you took the manual out, the instructions behind it telling you how to download and play as Joker? Were you by chance wearing a blindfold when you bought the game?

The character designs just set me off on this release, harley looks bad and the rest look funky to me. I will probally pick it up later when it hits that 30.00 sweet spot, but I cant justify 60.00 on it.

You're an idiot.

Uh, he's not an idiot. $60 for a game, any game, is a lot of money no matter how good it is. The only reason I bought it on the release date is because TRU gave me a $30 gift card, which I promptly used for a Marvel Universe three pack.

dont tell me you read the manual before you start a game? all i wanted the moment i had it in hand was to play that sucker. i never read the manual because they explain it anyway when you play the game. yeah i saw a sticker that you can play as joker but must it always be for download? i mean, why not put everything on the disc?

until your play3 breaks, like mine did. if you send it back for repair and you get it back, then everything is gone. trophy's, everything. even if you wanna send it back, it costs nearly as much as a new one.

You dont loose trophies, they are stored on Sony's servers, put the disc in and they will reappear. and as for DLC go to your Account Management tab and then Transactions then purchased items click the items and redownload them for free, same for anything you payed for on the PSstore.

its $150 to service it. but if you have the older SKUs its worth it because you can sell a launch 60GB for $450+ on Ebay and it will sell.

and yes Joker DLC is free

I'm still playing it, having only twenty or thirty minutes here and there to play. But it's been a lot of fun. Just waiting for the announcment of a sequels and thinking about what I want in it. I think it should take place in Gotham City proper and I want smoke bombs. Several times already in this game I have thought have some smoke bombs would come in really handy.

Yes! I too have thought if this game lacks anything it would be smoke bombs.

Before I knew about this game I have spoken to others complaining that there has never been anything even close to a good Batman game, yet it had a world of potential. I envisioned a game like the Spider-man franchise where you were in Gotham City in a playground environment being able to grapple up buildings, stop random muggings etc.

One feature I always wanted was to have was to have a transmiter on the utility belt to call the Batmobile to you.

Of course this game is pretty damn good.

Why isn't there a sequel yet? C'mon get working Rocksteady wink.gif

True, but it'd be WAY too easy with smoke and flash bombs. ;)

Yeah, they'd be nice to have but they're not a deal breaker. I realize that Batman uses both but if I had to chose one It'd be smoke bombs.

A bollo would be nice too.
