I've got a project that I want to take on this Wednesday to use fabric dye to change the color of some action figures. I can't find any resources for that when I google it, but I remember we talked about it here. Anyone able to help?

In short:

DON'T

In my many years of experience, I've found it to be messy, unpredictable, inconsistent and generally irritating.

On most plastic, it never 100% cures, and you'll likely be getting at least tiny amounts of dye still rubbing on your fingers months later.

You may have a figure with multiple kinds of plastic, and the dye may only adhere to one kind on the toy.

It may turn out black, purple, green...who knows.

I really don't understand why people use dye on figures. Just pick up a bottle of $3.00 Testor's Model Master Acryl or Tamiya if you want a professional look.

To summarize: DYE SUCKS

I dyed a bunch of stuff black with other day, using RIT dye. All of it coloured properly, cept half a leg (which was kinda random). I was mainly concerned with the joints, to avoid paint rub, so it worked out perfectly. Dyed my fingers black too, which was kinda fun...haha.
