Smallville Season 9 Discussion Thread (Potential Spoilers)

So, finished the episode...wasn't total crap at least. Better than last seasons finale, but thats not saying much. The Kandor thing could be interesting, but probably wont be. Clark is really screwed up, they couldnt just make him a hero, they've gotta make him a quasi-emo matrix ripoff?

I'm not too thrilled with the Heroes plotline though (while I followed spoilers, In didn't realize it was only a year into the future).

 

Well, one year is probably all this show has left anyway...

 

I'm not too put off by the black trenchcoat. I just think of it as a Smallvilleized version of his black Kryptonian battle suit from the comics. And at least, while they were fighting in the barn they didn't resort to the slow motion, mid-air jump kick that every action TV show and movie his ripped off at one point or another.

 

I also like Zod a lot. That actor seems to have it down. I also like the Clark/Lois phonebooth rendezvou (sp?) scenes they've set up last season and in this episode.

 

But yeah, I don't like it on fridays. Sitting at home watching tv makes me feel like a looser Maybe as some of these horrible new shows get canned, they can move it back to Thursdays?

This opener left me with more 'WTF's than the finale did. I kinda got left feeling like I missed an episode in between somewhere. I'm assuming they will explain everything in due time, though.

^I felt like I missed something as well. It sounds like Lois knows Ollie is GA? (the convo while she treats his injuries after the fight) I know Clark posed as GA, and kissed her; and Ollie posed as 'the Blur', but, when did (or has she) discovered Ollie's secret id? or did I misunderstand what she said?

Another part I thought was good was when Chloe asked Clark to go back in time and rescue Jimmy and Clark refused, saying he's not a god and recalling how his father died the last time he tried that.

 

As much as I'm a huge, huge fan of the original movie, if only THEY had taken a page from Smallville in dealing with Superman's powers. Having Supes turn back time (and doing it AGAIN in the Donner cut of Superman II) is the only flaw in an otherwise flawless movie. In essence, you have a hero who can never, ever loose a battle or have to deal with death or loss. Where's the fun in that?

Hmm....I thought she found out last season. Although I may have just assumed that, having glazed over half the season because it made me wanna give up the show almost as much as season 6 did.

 

Just checked, apparently it was in the Season 7 episode 'Siren'.

The writers need to avoid forcing comic references into the show...Clark talking about his fight with lois, "If there was an anti-life equation, I think I found it". Made me cringe when he said that.

I liked Roulette a lot, until you discover she worked for Chloe.

 

I am not liking that it seems like it is becoming the Green Arrow show, but I do like them using "real" DC vilians instead of the meteor freak of the week.
