Wow! Was that ever a mistake! More convolution on the part of the movies, with a hand from the comic itself.

 

For those (like myself) not in the know, 'Whiplash' is the name Blacklash started out with (in the comics). And he was italian, not russian, as presented in the movie. Furthermore, in the comics, Whiplash is now the moniker of a female baddie, not at all associated with Iron Man, but a mutant. In the case of this movie, it is postulated that this Whiplash is the amalgam of both Blacklash and Crimson Dynamo (the russian part).

 

Why can't they just keep this sh!t simple?

I suspect that Whiplash will build up his suit in the movie. He's probably going after Iron Man to steal some tech.

I think Whiplash will be cool in the movie. I'm glad Favreau is going in a different direction with the villian in this movie, the Iron Man series would get boring if all the enemies were big, slow, lumbering mechies.

Are you people serious? Did you really think Jon Favreau and his crew were going to use the costume with the purple cape and green ponytail? The discussion about characters in movies not wearing their comic costumes is in another topic.

 

After seeing those other pictures that costume (without The Gimp mask) looks fine.

He definitely looks menacing. I always thought the character was a little wimpy for an Iron Man villain. All IM has to do is get in the air and shoot from above. Whiplash doesn't really have any distance attack. Perhaps in the movie he can launch some kind of energy wave/beam or the whip extends really far.
