here's a thought. Ever consider buying something that is a shoe in to increase in value in leaps and bounds as the years go by. How about blowing the entire sum on a small to medium size Alex Ross original print! they sell at auction for thousands and thousands of dollars.

I collect because I enjoy the figures and characters,I don't really worry about them being worth anything, where's the fun in that?

me too, but I wont deny the fact that a Ross print is as good as having gold in the U.S. Reserve. If your not a fan of Ross then don't buy it. But if you are like me then I'd buy one and feel good about helping to secure my future with a priceless pice of art.

Heres a list for you...

Hot Toys Two Face - $150

Hot Toys Dark Knight Batman - $150?

Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker - $165

Hot Toys Honor Guard Joker Pre Order - Snag 2, you can make some $$ on the extra clothes and keep the heads and extra body...

Hot Toys Tumbler and Batpod if your that big of a fan...all this together so far will cost around $1000...

Next I would go for comics, something that can be resold...

Snag The Killing Joke CGC 9.8...I got one and I absolutely love it...$100?

Detective Comics #168 - The Red Hood cover...such a great book and WILL sell if you get tired of it...$1000

Figure wise...fill in your DCUC or whatever...

Dont get DCD Dark Knight product...go for the Hot Toys...if you get both youll wish you saved the $$ from the DCD...

Honestly I wouldnt drop $5000 on plastic and paper unless it has a high resale value or you absolutely cannot live without it...

Get a Macbook and a matching iPhone...You will be the happiest man alive....I am...and it only cost me $1300

DCSH wave 8 Batman

7th Kingdom:

Defender of the Fiery Crater

Guardian of the Dark Outland

Sentinel of the Woodland Forest

Fantastic Four movie Annihilus

Fantastic Four Classics OPAQUE SOLID orange Skrull

Hulk Classics Absorbing Man SKINNY Hulk arm

Hulk Legends Bi-Beast prototype

ML:

Iron Man gold and stealth

Luke Cage (silver)

Those are some of the best items I can think of as far as sculpt, articulation, and cost that I have never had the funds to get (recently anyway). Then you should buy anything that goes along with those that you don't already have.

On another note, if you're into trading or selling one each of Eradicator, Black Lightning, Amazo or Atom sealed, email me at squeezeplay69@gmail.com.

I would not spend $5g on toys alone, go to a comic con

pick a con someplace, nyc, sdccc, what have you, take you're wife go on a nice lil trip & go to a con & if anything spend the rest not spent on the vacation at the con :P Not only do you get to spend some $ left on toys, sketches, or autographs from tv type people , but you get the experience of going on a con & get in you're wifes good book as well for taking her on a vacation :P Also may I suggest as well perhaps getting a few nice statute pieces as well..

Rowdy, if Chopper does not want the care package, you can send some DCUC wave 5 or 7 my way!!!

Otherwise, Synch had a good idea. Vacation time with that kind of money, especially at a comic convention would be great. Your wife may get a kick out of it as well.

also for your displays, I think TRU sells product by Roseart which features buildings and the such. Or you can buy doll houses and hook them up as a Batcave or a Hall of Justice. Enjoy the dough $$$$$

Just an Idea: http://comicfigs.net/Display/

I wouldn't be spending five grand on toys, period. Whether you can afford to blow it or not, I'd be a little more careful with it. Far be it from me to tell you what to do, but spend maybe a grand tops on whatever you want then throw the rest into a college fund or something for your daughter.

Unless that money is honestly nothing to you and five grand is like a drop in the bucket, I'd mull things over very carefully.

I think that is his whole point. He's already buying a house, setting up college funds, or whatever he needs to with 95%+ of the money. The 5K on toys is specifically cause he knows he won't need to draw on that 5K until maybe after 20 years or so, at which time he'll have dividends from investments.

I say go for it. Synch's idea has merit as well. Or you could just continue to buy loose figures off forums like this and watch your common and obscure ranks swell out of all sane proportion ^_^
