Both your questions will be answered at SDCC. Mattel brought that up in one of their Q&As. They won't confirm anything until then - I guess to keep interest piqued as long as possible.

I thought the variant was just a different color. The normal is either black or blue and the variant is the other color.

 

 

Mattel actually leaked that there would be TWO variants to Wildcat, but until they confirm it at SDCC, nothing will be set in stone. (And their 'stone' is pretty soft, as it goes, so even then, I would take it with a grain of salt.)

While we will not know for sure until SDCC, I tend to lean towards trusting Wikipedia. There are tons of speculative posts out there, but these two wave descriptions are prety dominant, especially if supported by Walmart's POS system, which was the source of these specs. Wiki has yet to steer me wrong.

It would make sense, seeing as how they already re-released him in his regular outfit in the recent 2-pack. But who's to say they do what makes sense?

Wave 10:

 

Power Girl

 

Man-Bat : This is a brown repaint of the white SDCC exclusive. According to my source, every DCUC wave of 2009 was to have ONE DCSH repaint. So far this hasn't panned out, but it looks as though this is the case in Waves 10 & 11.

 

The Joker

 

Beast Boy: Beast Boy's been on the 4 Horsemen's secret Most Wanted list since the beginning of DCUC.

 

Robotman: I know this guy's name has been circulating around a lot. I couldn't get him confirmed but I think he's a good bet. The odd thing is that while Mattel has access to every DC character, there were some that either Mattel or DC preferred not to do. Doom Patrol characters were among them.

Static: I hate Static. I've made my feelings about this character known elsewhere. This is a waste of a slot. It had better be a pretty good C&C character for me to buy this waste of plastic. And speaking of the C&C...

 

C&C: I want to kick myself for not getting the name of this Wave's C&C character. I do know that Colossal Boy is on the list of C&C characters Mattel wants to do, but I think its a little early for CB just yet.

The Shark: This will be the Silver-Age version of the Shark and not the current monstrous one. After Killer Moth, Amazo and now this, you gotta give DCUC credit for having guts!

C&C: Kilowog : I've mentioned this elsewhere, but according to my insider, DCUC will have "theme" years during which each wave will have a team builder character. Year One, which we're wrapping up soon was The Year of The New Gods. With this wave, we begin The Year Of The Green Lantern Corp. According to my guy, next on the list will be The Year Of The Legion Of Super Heroes hence my comment above concerning the Colossal Boy C&C.

That is what I want to know, Static is a decent character and I like how he is grafted into the DC Universe and has joined the Teen Titans. He may be shaking up to be a major player and even more important than Black Lightning.

I don't want to derail this thread and at the risk of injecting an unintended controversy into the dialogue, I have a few major problems with Static...

 

1) He was created strictly to be a black character. He came from DC's failed Milestone experiment, a line of characters created race first.

 

2) Okay. You want a black character? Nothing wrong with that, but do you have to pull every aspect of the character from the big bag of black character cliches? This isn't the 1970's anymore. Let go of the Black Lightning mold!

 

3) Who needs Static when you've got Black Lightning around?

 

4) I've said this before but DC has a very hard time letting go of failed concepts. If a new DC cartoon started up, you can be damn sure they're going to insist Steel has to be on it. Actually, I think Static is becoming the new Steel!

 

5) At the risk of igniting another debate, it seems very obvious to me that DCUC has an agenda here. They're desperately trying to inject a black character into just about every wave. I can see Cyborg and even Black Lightning. John Stewart is a Green Lantern so I can understand him too. Now ahead of a lot of bigger profile white characters, we've gotten Mister Terrific, Black Firestorm, and now Static???

 

6) He's poorly designed. His look is busy and random.

 

7) The black thing and the redundant character thing aside, there are a lot of characters I'd rather see.

My insider told me this very, very early on so I don't know if this attitude still exists. At the time, though, he said ...and I can't remember if it was DC or Mattel...but SOMEONE wasn't confident that the Doom Patrol would sell. If it means anything, at the time, they felt the same way about the Legion too, but I think that's changed.

Thx. I like that look of Static I differenlly want a DCU figure of him. Like his new looks a little bit better then his Cartoon counter part.
