In short, I believe that everyone working for that company is dead, I have never seen such incompetent customer service.

***At the time I ordered from them they WERE answering emails in a timely fashion.

I currently have subscriptions which I think I ordered through them (as opposed to sending in a card from a store-bought mag). I have had over the past four to five years maybe 7 times where I had to call for a missing issue. Once, the issue was just late, but all the other times it was truly missing. Each time, I called the customer service number and got the situation resolved and a replacement within 2 days.

I have not tried to order any actual merchandise from their site (mostly because I can find it elsewhere at a better price), but I can not complain about getting my Wizard/Toyfare problems resolved.

well what number can I call to speak with a live person?

I mean literally, I have tried calling EVERY phone number connected to Wizard Entertainment (Not just Wizard U), and Its always led me to a voicemail.

The main CSR number is 845-268-3594, which, if the operator is on another call, will lead you to voicemail. Bear in mind, this is not a call center, and probably have one or two people who take customer service calls. I have been bumped to VM on a couple of occasions, and just waited a little and tried again and got to talk to someone. Alternatively, you can also e-mail them, which I have also done a couple of times, and they were quick to reply.

Wizard was once a dominant empire that seems to have fallen. They used to be the authoritative voice on the comic industry. I wonder how many issues of Wizard they sell a month nowadays? I stopped buying it monthly in 2001. I have every issue from 1994-2001 and lots from 90-93. The last issue I bought was #200 where they ranked the 200 greatest characters of ALL TIME. Wolverine was rightly #1, that restored some of my faith in them. But not enough to keep buying them again. I think the Internet is the single biggest reason for their demise. I used to read it for the news and previews as well as analysis and opinions on the industry. Now we can get that info for free right away instead of having a month delay.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but how very true this comment is. It was all downhill once the Marvel movies started coming out. Now that's not a knock on Marvel movies, but it was when Wizard started moving away from comic-based material and turned into a pop culture rag. I did not pick up that 200th issue but I doubt they justified where everyone fell. In older issues they'd have the Top 10 whatevers and they'd always make an argument why #1 is better than #2 and so forth. It was interesting debate. Way back when they trashed Wolverine and provided substantial evidence why he wasn't that great, I guess times have changed. However, like many a magazine and newspaper, the Internet is making them irrelevant, though bad content doesn't help.

I once bought a figure and book on their Web site with no problem, but it was a last resort. The prices were ridiculous. From what you say about the customer service I'm not surprised.

Last week I called to check on my subscription renewals (don't ask - I guess I just like hardcopy material) After a runaround with their phone system, being forwarded from one menu to another and back, I sent in an e-mail. Jen got back to me within 10 minutes to explain what was going on, and answer my questions. I don't know if this will relate to your difficulty, but they are in the process of moving their offices, hence the wonky phone system. E-mail's working fine, though, and for the time being, might be the better way to go. I only mention that as I have never had a problem getting a live person in the past, just this one time.

They do have some new numbers, so you might want to check those out too. I don't know if this helps, probably not, but at least it's something.

I don't know when the last time I bought a Wizard mag, ever since places like tni and the like, info has been instantaneous on important days such as Toy Fair and SDCC. Before Wizard was the place to get all that info, not anymore!! Thanks Jay C your site rocks!!!!

I totally agree - sites like these have made Wizard and ToyFare all but obsolete. But, for whatever reason, I still hold subscriptions to both. It's like a newspaper - no one really needs one with the instantaneous reporting via TV and internet, but it's kinda nice to have a hardcopy to read/reflect upon. Weird. Must be an 'old people' thing.

The first few times I ordered from Wizard, I received eveything fine. However, it seems the more I ordered the worst they got. I had one order where they only sent a few of my items and never contacted me about the rest. I had to constantly call and e-mail and finally got a refund for the missing items, but never an explanation or an e-mail. This last order that I placed was for two CGC rated comics that were delivered cracked (both of them!!) They were packed so poorly it was ridiculus. They're customer service is so horrible, I can't be bothered anymore. So I've been looking on-line for other places with good prices. I found this: Gammaraycomics.com They seem to have comparable prices and so far I got everything I ordered with no hassel! They could be a good alternative to ebay and wizard for those of you who are looking.
