Do you understand why this petition will not work?

Manufacturers SUGGEST the retail price of their goods, they do not set the price.

Guess who sets the price of goods you buy in a store?

C'mon...take a wild guess.

The retailer sets the price.

Your petition is , unfortunately, like so many others.......its not sustainable, it is unaware of the forces that determine the circumstances of WHY the prices are what they are, and its ...........well, there's no other way to say it..........its plain stupid.

Oh, don't go citing this is a war against greed and unfairness and all that other bullshit. You and I live in a capitalist system which allows a party to profit from their labors in fair trade and commerce. No company will pay any attention to you if your efforts seeking to undermine their profits, which they are legally entitled to make.

You'd have better luck with a petition demanding that toy makers stop the use of twist ties in their packaging....

Man, I'd be all about the 'No Twist Tie' policy! Sometimes I have to use wire cutters to free these guys!

You guys are harsh.

Try realistic.

Flash70 might as well petition for the sun to rise in the west, for all the effect his efforts at getting a universal price for action figures instituted.

The reasons are very plain and easy to find out, and he simply did not bother to look.

Why coddle the ignorant?

Hey FLASH70, wannna place a bet on who's e-mail Hasbro will respond to first?

You work on that petition of yours while I send an e-mail to Hasbro suggesting that because their figures are so assume that they should be even more expensive, like around $10...

I think that the biggest surprise has not been that the prices have gone up recently, it's that they've gone up DRAMATICALLY in the last few years. You now pay the same for a 4" Marvel character as you did with a Toy Biz 6" Marvel Legend WITH and huge build-a-figure part just a few years ago. Personally with Star Wars I'm willing to pay the extra cash to get the added articulation and paint applications that we've been getting in the last few years.

Thanks for all of you who have voted and have spoken on the matter.

Although I think the idea is a bit foolish, I applaud your effort.

Unfortunately the presentation is a bit lackluster. Once you start demanding better paint aps and more points of articulation your argument becomes really silly. I want more and more for less.

You should have presented this in the scheme of how Joes were going for a little over $5 about a year ago and they've increased prices by like 30% in a short span of time.

Sure Hasbro could drop the price back to $4.99 but then they'll go back to making the figures like they did back in '95. And do we really want to go back to that?

yeah that won't happen.

I think we are at the "fall of the speculators" getting out of the market and only true collectors staying on board.

The figures will go down in price - nobodies buying and the prices are just plain insane.

Here in Chicago $7.99 - $8.25 for a single figure ugh no!!

So again, if you did sign the petition thanks very much...if you don't wish to sign thats cool.

Peace.

Why should they lower the price? I bought Star Wars figures, vehicles, playsets and the like, uncontrollably, for almost 12 years. Five, six, seven bucks, it didn't matter, not to me and not to any other collectors. They sell "exclusives" for double the price and they go off the shelf. Hell, half of their line goes into repacks and collectors still gobble them up.

Arrow's statements aside, there's no reason to lower the price.
