**folds arms across chest & pats foot** ok Jay. If you realy think we adult collectors acount for so little in the "big picture" then the next time you run across a Hasbro big wig, be sure to tell them that its all in there mind that TFA has all but crashed & burned, or that rediculas toon went down in a firey death like the Hindenburge. All your toddler & child $$$$ could'nt save TFA, but if the adult colletor were more on board....................how differant things would have been.

Yes, this is a business. BUT! even in business its well know to give tokens of thanks. Do you get what I'm saying here?

In other words if DCUC had only been moderately difficult to find & its craftsmanship were always up to par then NONE of you guys would hear a peep out of me about the monkey!

Mattel is on dangeriously thin ice! & its "PR books" are deep in the red so-to-speak. This wonder twin set compleat with gleek could have realy WOW'ed a lot of fan who've been copeing with a lot from a company who dispite being the "worlds largest toy company" has a lot to learn in the PR dept. & QC.

But fret not Mattel. Once I flush your crap down the toilet on ebay, you won't have to suffer the harsh words of my post any more......................or my pay check. I'm sure Companies like Hot Toys are more that happy to give utter excellance & hold stead fast to a release date time table.

none of you need this.

it's a toy.

I know we're all fans, but c'mon.

I dislike the Wonder Twins, I don't think they should've been made in the first place.

SACRILEGE!

Just kidding. None of these people are willing to accept the facts. And those facts are:

1. They're convention exclusives. Retailers have every right to NOT offer convention exclusives outside of the convention.

2. Superhero toys aren't as popular as these people think they are.

Be happy you're getting anything Wonder Twins related. To be honest I think it's a complete waste of an exclusive. You'll probably get the chance to buy the monkey on MattyCollector.com because they'll have so many left over.

This coming from a person who proudly bragged in an earlier post to have no car and no mortgage because they bought toys they couldn't afford. By the way your grammar and spelling is one of the most atrocious things I have ever seen. But I did learn new words like "rediculas" and "colletor". Apparently you couldn't afford an education either.

It's people like you who are basically telling Mattel to stop making superhero figures because you won't buy them. So tell me? Why should they even bother selling the Wonder Twins in any form (no pun intended)?

And I don't see your point about Transformers. They keep a lot on the shelves around my area and they sell fairly well. For a while they couldn't keep them on the shelves. This sounds more like your opinion and not fact (not a surprise). The show is in it's third season and I'm sure a new show will replace it once the movie comes out. So please explain to the viewing public how this is a "crash and burn" outfit like the HINDENBURG.

Mattel's QC and distribution problems are inexcusable. I see the faults in the character choices in the JLU Fan Collection and judging from the upcoming waves it seems to have been rectified. I don't see the fault in offering an exclusive accessory to people who can make the trip to a convention and offering an alternative set for everyone else. It's a monkey people, deal with it.

Jay - I'm preeeetty sure SDCC doesn't need more ways to attract attendees. Four day passes and Saturday tickets have already sold out. Last year the show completely sold out, and it's looking like the show will completely sell out even faster this year. If anything SDCC may have to move if they want to be able to accommodate all these people.

This is part of the reason why exclusives make even less sense to me now. Even if you do make it to the show you may not be able to get the exclusive that you want. I already dislike exclusives in the first place. As many people have mentioned before me, it's hard for a collector to travel to these shows just to get a toy. It's even worse now, when attendance may not even guarantee you the exclusive. There's no guarantee they'll have any left for you. In all likelihood a lot of people will have gone to SDCC and come back empty handed, and that's really the worst part about it.

With online distribution, I no longer see the value or need of exclusives. It leaves more people unhappy than happy (I assume many people who wait in line for these things at cons would prefer a stress free online way to purchase these so they can spend time... not waiting in line).

And to people who say quit whining, it's just a toy - you're right it is just a toy. In fact a lot of things we buy are just material goods. When you say, "it's just a toy," it probably means you don't have a collector's mentality, and I actually envy you for that. But the fact is, a lot of us are collectors and as collectors we tend to view things in terms of completion. And without the monkey, the set isn't complete. I'm just glad I have no idea who these characters are, have no emotional attachment to them, and can thus pass on it entirely if I can't get all three.

church. (truth) i feel the same way! i dont want a half-assed collection just because some yahoo at mattel couldnt come up with a better idea for an exclusive. "hey, even though were making these for collectors, and we know that gleek(for whatever reasons) is a known part of the wonder-twins, and we know that every collector is going to feel that his/her dcuc collection isnt complete without this...eff it!....got nothin else to do!" dont get me twisted, i dont care about the twins in general! im just a guy who wants to complete his collection, and as long as i know that theres a piece that im missing.....exclusive or not, important or not.....I...NEED...IT!!!

I hated Wendy and Marvin, but the Wonder Twins were kinda cool. Gleek was part of the team and it sucks that I have to jump through hoops to get him. I went to SDCC the last two years but I doubt I can afford it this year. Hopefully I can have a friend pick one up for me if not I'll probably try to get a set with Gleek on ebay. If prices are too ridiculous though I'll have to settle for the Twins only I guess.

I could care less about the Monkey. I always hoped there would be an episode where Gleek met with an unfortunete accident lol. As far as the Twins go, I'll try to get them on Mattycollector when they come out, but if I am not able to then no big deal. They are not a set that I absolutely need.

Again I don't know for sure that is a reason, but why do you think this show is so popular? Its these things like exclusives (certainly not just exclusives) that have built it into just a juggernaut of a show over the years. SDCC is not competlely sold out and especially in these tough economic times where people probably aren't traveling as much as usual its more important than ever for a show like this to come up with every possible draw for people it can.

I'm not exactly sure what you guys are fighting about over here? I think the picture some have painted yourselves over this about this somehow being a personal vendetta against against you and your hobby and how Mattel or any of these toy companies are just these big evil companies out to screw you is not completly accurate, and that I was trying to point out some possible logical reasons that might be behind some of these decisions so that you could pehaps have a better understanding of the situation. I don't think however anyone is really suggesting that people don't have a right to be frustrated over not being able to get something like the Gleek, certainly I'm not saying that. I think some have expressed their frustrations in a bit less than productive fashion (those basically resorting to threats and name calling) but certainly the decision not to buy the non-gleek set if gleek is that important to you is a reasonable action take. I certainly don't suggest you buy it for the sake of buying it because your affraid Mattel won't make anymore DCUC figures if you don't.

The best way to send a message to any business is do something that effects their bottom line and if enough of you are truely addiment about not buying these and don't, perhaps that will cause a company like Mattel to reconsider their decisions in the future. The counter to that though is you also have to be prepared that just because you personally feel strongly about it, others may not and just as your are perfectly within your rights to NOT buy the figures, so are those who not having the Gleek doesn't matter and therefore opt to buy the sets.

SupremeQueen pointed out in a PM to me how in a thread down in the Transformers section I made a comment of how I quit collecting the Classic Transformers line because I wasn't able to get the botcon seeker jet exclusives from a few years ago which left a whole in my collection. Well as a I pointed out to him, there are some similarites to this situation and so I do understand the frustration, however I choose not to buy anymore TF classic not because I was trying to make a statement to Hasbro, I did it cause with the hole in my collection, the line no longer interested me. Now I suppose if enough people felt the same way and did the same thing it MIGHT have caused Hasbro to reconsider doing this type of thing in the future, but certainly I wasn't banking on that nor was I going around curssing everyone for not supporting my decision and insisting everyone else should do the same thing. I'm certainly happy to point out that the reason I quit collecting the line was because of that hole, but beyond that I simply move on and find other things to spend my money on.

The fact that TFA had the life span of a may Fly. But evidance to date shows that when a toy or toon (of any kind) that bring something to the table for both child and collector, that toy almost always get a one way ticket to the toy hall of fame. In other words the adult toy collector is like thoes French Fashion experts in The Devil Wears Prada. There are'nt that many of them, and like all fashion it is dependant on the "mindless mall masses" spending like crazy to turn a good profit. BUT it is thoes "shopping mall masses" that turn to US the adult toy collector (or fashion experts in my metaphore) to gain direction as to what hot and whats not.

P.S. I NEVER cursed a single sole over this matter...........or any other matter.

Hey Jay I see your point bro and we shouldn't attack jay for trying to play devils advocate. But with that said it maybe easy for you to move on to something else but for some of us (and i am not talking for every one) But for some of us we have gone on and spent money on other lines and clothes and whatever the case may be. In other words been to tha mountin seen what it was all about and came back to what we really loved. and this line would be that for me because i have always loved dc figures. And waited for some of these figures for years. Like your hole in your TF collection it not only leaves a hole there but in our hearts too.

I know why some guys n gals here are passionate about this to an extream. Which is not great but i myself am just passionate about this line because it not only means something to me but can be real fun at times. its hard to be right when both side are right. As for the folks who just say they hate this well yall need to stop because you get your gentelman ghost and commander steel and killer moths. Give us a break with the twins or anyother super firend they make.

I do get so sick of people saying i hate this and not really give it a chance. Even with rumors i hate that or i hate this idea befor its even givein a chance. But back to topic. I don't see why the twins could not be offerd at the con in special con packing like gold foil box or something. And the twins with gleek on matty or a toys r us only that way there both special. Or even offer the water bucket and egeal as con exclusives. There is or was a number of ways to please the mass and still have a kool con deal.

I am sorry as can be its cause this big of a deal. Hopefully we all can some how get them with gleek or at least get them and go to e bay for gleek

Here's food for thought.

I hate exclusives. Period. Any and all. By definition, exclusive means something everyone can not have. Why is anyone being excluded?

Generally, I forgo (read, 'piss on!') exclusives. No one is going to see my collection other than me. Let's be real. It's not like we all own a museum. Not most of us, anyway. Something you could charge admission for, anyway. So who the F cares whether you have a Gleek or not? Just you? Huh. Wow. Get over it.

I'd like to have a trio, and still (against my nature) will go to Matty to get the TWINS (not TRIO), like I did with Starfire and Strange. But I'd have preferred to get them in stores. Avoiding the extra cash spent on S&H. And how many of you were against the idea of Mattel even including these guys in DCUC anyway? Quite a few, as I remember!

Can someone do a poll to see how many people on this board want the monkey and how many people don't? I guess I'm one of the few that likes the Wonder Twins, but doesn't really care for Gleek.

If I get the Wonder Twins pack at the SDCC, I'd be willing to sell the monkey to someone this board. However, I'd sell it for less than $25 shipped (I think that was SQ's max offer). That seems like an awful lot for a little blue monkey. (Besides, I got some good deals through the trading forum. I should return the favor.) For those of you who would be willing to buy the monkey, what would be the max you would pay for? Would people REALLY buy the monkey for $50 off Ebay?

Thanks for the reply. I can buy that exclusives helped to make SDCC what it is. However, I just no longer see exclusives (the kind that piss off fans: new characters) as a necessary component to making SDCC successful. It used to be that was the only way they could get less popular characters out to fans, which is no longer the case. Anyway, I meant no offense, I know you're just trying to offer a rational explanation (other than tradition) to temper the frustration.

I know my complaints will go unnoticed. Even me not purchasing the online set will not help any. But sometimes it's just nice to complain a little and know that other people are whining about the same thing. Misery loves company after all.
