Does anyone collect C.O.P.S?

I collect a large assortment of action figures and I've always wanted get all the C.O.P.S N' Crooks figures. I have not in the past because it was never convenient. Now that Marvel Legends is dead and the 25th Joes are put on hold for the year (My two main lines) I decided now is a good time to buy all the cops figures off eBay. The average price per figure is as high as any other major vintage toy line. It sells as high as Star Wars, GI Joe and GI Transformers. I just went back and bought most of the MOTU figures and the average price for them in large lots was $2-$3 each, not the $20-$30 each C.O.P.S figures sell for in large lots.

Why though? It only lasted 2 years as a toy line and cartoon and had a mere 15 issue comic run by DC. That is to be considered a failure, especially by Hasbro's standards. So why are regular auctions so sparse and the prices so high?

Because the figures are so well done. Its really a great toy-line and I guess enough collectors have seen that and bought into collecting them, which raises the interest and in turn raises the prices.

I have a bunch of Loose COPS stuff, and used to have more--almost all the figures--and I'm planning on holding on to them for a while yet. Its a great, goofy toy-line, that was probably about 10 years ahead of its time.

I beat the hell out of the cops helicopter as a kid I remember that much... This thing had a cartoon!? I don't remember that at all just the toys! I had the main guy I think with the orange and the blue and the bad guy with the chain ball... Mainly I just remember the CAPS & lighting them off in my basement haha!

These figures sell for more than most of the Real American Hero figures which has a rabid following. Yes I know it's supply and demand but I don't understand why they are so rare and expensive. I saw a loose Buttons Mcboomboom sell for $50 on ebay.

I just got my C.O.P.S figures I paid an arm and a leg for off ebay. I got most of the 2 series but I still need the Air Raid Helicopter(the one that fires fully automatic caps) the ironsides, the bluestreak cycle and the roadster. Other than that I have them all. They are truly first class figures and still stand toe to toe as some of the best action figures ever.

This lot just sold on ebay

I can't get over how expensive these figures are. Compared to how much I've seen other COPS lots sell for this was still a decent deal for this guy.

It has almost everything, half of the vehicles I haven't seen on ebay in months (bluestreak, air raid, ironsides. roadster, a.t.a.c)

Besides some weapons here or there all the lot is missing is Bulletproof and Highway.

What do you guys think?

I think they're expensive BECAUSE they were a failure in the day. It makes them short in supply and thus RARE!!

The fact that they came out at the exact same time, almost to the month as TMNT really hurt their chances. And they were fairly expensive for a figure in 1988, $6-$7 each.
