Smallville season 9?

Well gang the topic pretty much says it all. My room mate sent me to this site.....um.....something like my krypton.com, but when I tried to go there again, I ended up at some porn site with a bunch of naked women (YUCK). but when I was at the site my rommie sent me to, it contained an interview with the producers od Smallville & they straight up made refferance to season 9 most likely going in to production.

The articule also when on to say some thing about a show that was to have replaced Smallville after it wraped season 8, but then later cancelled its efforts to send "The Graysons" in to production. Sorry all you die hard Bat fans, but I must confess I'm glad they scrapped that idea. the whole "pre-Robin" concept was wack from the get-go.

Any way when I get home (i'm still at work & useing my PDA), but when I get home i'll get the correct site address from my rommie & edit this post so you guys & gals can read it for your self & draw your own conclusions..................or, if there is some eager beaver out there who is either sitting on the info I'm talking about or knows how to find it, then please by all means post a link so we can all figure what the heck going on over at WB & Smallville!!!

Only thing i can find is this, taken from Kryptonsite:

Smallville Spin-Off For 2009-2010?

UPDATED 2-4-09

Smallville's future as far as a ninth season would go is still "up in the air," with many things riding on the signing of Tom Welling for a ninth year.

However, we are starting to hear rumors that if Tom does not sign for a Season 9, there might be a Smallville spin-off in its place after all. No ideas yet on casting or concept, or if this is anything more than a rumor, but it's something to think about....

The site is Kryptonsite.com. If you go to the news section, and scroll down to January 6, you'll find the EW newsbit about Welling looking at returning for a ninth season. It's the only thing I've seen so far, but it has a pretty positive note, and these guys don't just post any old thing - they have a good track record - I've been a fan of that site since the series began.

The reference to a spin-off is only a rumor. There is no other information on it than that. (can also be found on the site under the rumors tab)

Hay people! Sorry about the dely in the season 9 up date situation. But any who it appears this news of there being a Smallville season 9 has been buzzing around for about a month now. Heres a link that i found that had some realy good info on it.

http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/1770...ON-9/Page1.html

Now I know some of you have expressed that this show has jumped the shark already but I beg to differ. yes it can get REALY girl oriented to the point where only women and gay men are left watching, BUT Smallville never ever looses its foucas on where its going. This show has surprised me time and time again. It has brought tv FX to a whole new level. It has redefined what is hot and what is lame on Hero tv. I tend to agree that the "no tights no flights" rule is on its way out the door. Many feel that the flight rule has been broken already. America feels like its been brought half way to the edge, or "gotten half way off". They wont stop till Welling wares the House of El on his chest..................on his big beefy strong well defined sculpted chest

A Queen can only hope and dream.

That site only states the same newbit as Kryptonsites' does. And both refer to an interview with Mike A. from EW. Not to put a foot down on the idea, but I'm still waiting for something a little more solid comes in. Believe me, I want to see this thing continue, but let's wait until the word from above is given!

I'm not gay. Or a woman. I'm a fan. I've been a fan since the beginning. In fact, this is the ONLY show I can say I have seen every episode of without fail. I've ben a fan of other shows, but I've always missed something here or there. I'm sure without being a detective, you can tell I'm a huge fan of 'the big red S'. That all aside, I think that yes, this will go on for another season, and furthermore, regardless of who stays on, this will be the season where Clark gets somewhat smarter and a bit more realistic.

It's all about the fans, though. If this is indeed to be the last season, they have a story for it. Mike (Lex) has already hinted at that. But the fact that he has not been solidly listed as making an appearance in the remainder of the season indicates there is something more (and better) they are willing to pay him for.

The remainder of Clark's story in Smallville should play out like this - He needs to grow up, take resposibility, and make the transition between 'Superboy' and 'Superman'!

You know I think that the show jumped the shark a long long time ago. I have seen every episode but now I feel that within the last season the show is kind of different. Almost like a different show, kind of like Whats Happening and Whats Happening Now. Its gotten better but Clark has got to put on the shield and take off into the air soon. I do think that the show is starting to run its course though, if it goes another season I would like to see season 9 be it. Let the show end and let Clark become Superman. B/c I don't think they want to do a weekly hour show with Welling being actual Superman but an episode or two where he puts on the suit would be mostly what the producers would do.

That's why I think they need to make him 'grow'. By that I mean, 'get smarter'. The character's pretty much been relying on everyone else to tell him what he needs to do for quite some time, now. In order to end this series, and move on to the 'next stage', Clark needs to be able to take a lot more initiative. Sure, he may not be right all the time, but he definitley needs to step away from all his little helpers.

You guys make some realy good points. & Ares I wasn't calling you gay bud, I know that Smallville has a good size straight male demographic audiance. As a matter of fact the show goes to great leanth to ensure that the action & FX will hold the attention of a straight guy all while its set against "girly things" like coffe house conversations, girl power, & the never ending pursuit of "the perfect boyfriend" LOL.

& yes! todays show is very much indeed differant than the Smallville show of several years ago. In case you can't put your finger on it allow me. I'm sure you know that there's "something differant" about our fav superboy right. For starters his "bangs" are FINALY OFF HIS FREAKING FACE!!! Man I can't tell you how much I've waited for that. also his face make up & close up shots are shot differantly. No more is Clark to be dolled up with rouge to give him rosey farm boy cheeks that emphasize the youth of a 16 year old farm boy in high school. Now his make up allows for the slightest hint of a 5 O'clock shadow & just enough lighting in the shot to give his face more edge of a growwn man & less young boy roundness (its very sexy).

Also more & more seldom does he ware his hallmark red & blue tee & jacket (i guess they said to them selves, if the viewing public hasn't caught on to this being a nod to Superman by now then they'll never catch on).

IMO what I think they need to deside is WHICH SUPERMAN they want to end the series with. After all Justice League Superman is MUCH MUCH LESS powerfull than solo Superman. But the problem is, they've gone to such leanth to bring the Justice League in to this continuity (& the more important point), WB is mos def gonna want a super hero flick to replace Smallville, so who better than The Justice League, right??

Well maby yes & maby no. JL is still very much being considered for a major motion pic, so WB might just slam the breaks on the continuity being all screwed up by a tv show that's on its way out. Smallville should end w/a solo Superman IMO.

While I haven't cared for every episode (like the recent 'Super Lana' storyline ), Smallville is still one of a handfull my 'must see' shows. It's too bad all of the eps can't be on the level of "Legion"/ "Justice"/Rosetta"/etc... It's sounds like there are a few good cameos and mythos builders coming up, but, I'm not sure how long they can stretch out the ' red & blue blur' idea. (not to mention keeping Lex 'in the shadows'). At this point, I think I'd be ok w/ it ending this year. @supes@

I've slacked off watching, but that's more because i moved away from my dvr :(

It's not a perfect show the villians seem to flash in the pan, and the whole tattoed lana season was aweful. But overall it made me like superman, which is just amazing. It really made me intersted in the JLA and i would probably prefer they get a spin off than see a season 9. It's hard to do without lex, and although i would love to see him as supes, i just don't think it's going to happen.

Personally, I'd love for the final shot of the series to be Clark running toward the camera, ending w/ a shirt reveal of the Superman shield

Yeah and that kind of bothers me about how Clark can't seem to make a decision about what to do without talking to Chloe, Lois, Lana, his parents, and even in the day Lex. Its like you know for someone who will one day be the superhero who is faster than a speeding bullet it sure takes him forty five minutes to make a decision of whether or not to punch Zod-Lex. It really is quite silly and you are right Clark needs to step up so to speak or just let him become Superman and end the show.

JACKPOT!!! Thats it rev! with out even realizing it you just said why there's most likely gonna be a 9th season. CW & Micheal Rosenbum (unofficaly cause its all being kept hush hush) had a mega melt down knock down drag out fight over money$$$. So CW was like F**k him, we can do the show with out his chacter & desided to rolled the dice that Smallville could get along just fine with out its #1 villian..............NOT!!!!!!!!

IMO CW realized some where during this curent season that their gamble didn't pay off & if they end the show with out Lex (or that gas mask version no name actor) its all gonna be very anti climatic. So CW & Rosenbum are gonna do what people in Hollywood have been doing in tinsel town for decades after a major fight............kiss & make up!

I'll bet the throne I sit upon, that a compromise will be reached so Rosenbum can bring Lex back to end the show right. Some thing major an epic for sure (well for tv any way). So yeah that why I think Smallville will be back for a 9th season.

FLAG ON THE FIELD!!!!!!! *giggles* Oh no you aint tryin to steal my idea LOL.

But yeah I've been sitting on that idea for about 4 years now. IMO I'd like the series to spend about an hour & 45 mins devoted to the mega climax, & the last 15 mins (or the epilog) doing this total reenactment of the 1st Chris Reev movie. Like some where along the way a bunch of people in Clarks life are stripped of their memory of Clark, & Lois Is being #1.

Any way i'd love to see Clark/Tom Welling getting oriented on his 1st day on the job as a reported & Lois giving him the "new guy" business. & of corse Lois is dashing out the door enrute to the roof to hop a chopper to Metropilis Airport. Well I don't have to spell it out for you guys we all know how the story goes.

But yeah, as Tom/Clark leave out the Planet & sees the chopper in distress, I simply die with glee to see him run across the street out of sight & bare the "S" from behind his Brooks Brothers two pice suit..........................& fade to black & roll credits. LoL

You know I think that the whole Rosenbaum leaving thing would have been cooler if they could have figured out how to do the show without him but they couldn't figure it out. Lex to me was a problem to the show, he is Supes grand villain in the comics. Joker to Batman if you will, but you have a character that Clark doesn't fight or really do anything other than just get angry at. I mean Clark doesn't really do much to him, Lex could kidnap Lana and tie a boulder made of Kryptonite to Clark and Welling's Clark will break free, save Lana and then Clark will just stand there and tell Lex something trite. I was hoping that Rosenbaum leaving the show would open it up and allow Clark to get some backbone and not be afraid to kick some a$$ if the need be and if Lex were to come back you would see a Clark that is not hindered by the four years of friendship and the fact that Lex is human. I'm really not sure where they will try to take the show but I hope that Clark finally becomes Superman and that the Doomsday fight (if they ever wake that craggy mess up) will be amazing and not like the previous fights on the show (Clark gets beat up for five solid minutes and then he uses some last ditch effort (usually some far off Kryptonian crystal that had no use before but starts glowing) to defeat the bad guy).

I see Smallville as an 'Elseworlds' tale, setting it's own rules along the way. I'd say let whoever knows Clark's secret, still know at the end. Have Clark adopt the glasses at some point* (which they've hinted at a couple of times, shown in the opening credits as a matter of fact ;) ). They could even play up the old joke of 'who would be fooled by a pair of glasses?' :P

*Didn't post-Crisis Clark only start wearing glasses in his 20's?

You know what would also be a good idea? To briefly take him out of both Smallville and Metropolis and have him do a season pilgrimage around the world.

I think if they dedicated a season to Clark soul searching he would grow into accepting his role. In doing so, they could introduce tons more DC heroes as well

as show Clark helping newer people rather than the same people getting into trouble week after week. Truth be told I wish they would have taken this chance in

earlier seasons and then allowed Clark to go to Metropolis.

That is not a bad idea at all. Just let him grow up and become the Man of Steel. The only problem with that scenario is that they either have to not use the rest of the cast for a season or give them a story. I don't get me wrong I love Chloe but a season of her either trying to solve people's problems or getting into trouble would be terrible. There is no way they could actually pull that off right.

Smallville takes it on the road???...........WOW you guys must realy want this show to jump the shark lol. Sorry but that's a pass for me. Here's why, Clark is destined to study with Jor El. remember 12 earth years pass when Clark finaly return to earth to take his 1st flighr as Superman.

& no, I don't think i'd be very interested in "Smallville the inter Glactic journey continues"! I think its enough that they went as deep as they did in to his adolesence.

ok I'm gonna stop now because my spelling is getting extra bad LOL.

Well then he should get his study on. Unless they are planning on making the show last 12 years and saying that the last 12 seasons have been him studying with Krypto-poppa. And actually just b/c Clark is suppose to study with Jor-El doesn't mean that he can't leave Smallville/Metropolis to do it. He could still take it on the road. Its just that the whole storyline is slowly getting stale again.

That is the movie timeline. ;) In the Smallville universe, didn't Clark technically began his training w/ Joe El when he built the fortress (the season finale/premiere w/ Clark in the 'black void'). I believe he still has 'trials' to go through (mentioned around the escape of the phantoms/formation of the 'JLA'?); unless, the build up to Superman will be his trials?
