Removing black paint from Aquaman?

I recently got the classic Aquaman and had an idea to remove the black "under-wear" part of his costume to make him more like the modern version (like Final Crisis). Anyone have any ideas to do this without damaging the figure and keeping the texture of the figure consistent?

The natural plastic color under the black would be green right?

that would be logical... the modern version has all green pants...

However, the classic version might actually have yellow underneath the crotch portion. The legs will almost definitely have green underneath the black part.. but the crotch piece might be yellow because the belt is yellow. I don't have a loose one, so I can't inspect it really close.

MATTEL has done some odd things.. I remember some of the Sinestro figures had yellow plastic on the arms, under the blue paint.

Clam is correct on the classic aqua having strange coloured parts.

I looked at my aquaman and can tell you that the crotch piece is black plastic and the upper legs are shockingly, orange plastic.

Easyest thing to do my friend is just to go to hobby lobby and get a flat green close to the color and paint it then use a simi gloss to clear it

Or repaint the entire lower body--hips and legs-- the green you choose, so the colours will match. Otherwise you have to pick an exact shade, which can be a pain. As long as the shade of green you pick is close, you can miss a few small spots and it'll probably not be noticed.

You can pop the arms off of figures safely? How does this work

Boil and pop. You can boil hot water or use a hair dryer and have the part you want to remove exp0sed to it for 30 seconds. If you use a pot, make sure the toy does not touch the bottom since it would warp the plastic. Once it is has been exposed to heat, pull off the arm

I recommend pullin it from the under the ball joint and though it ipossible to pull iff from the lower arms, but you may probably mess up some of the paint on the pins.

Make sure when you do this method, try to pop off the biceps socket and not the whole arm (shoulder socket) since one cannot remove the shoulders this way
