The Man who Voiced Starscream(and a couple of other Transformers including WheelJack which I just Found out)

Does anyone have any Info on him

Ive looked at his Wikipedia Page and he was an Interesting guy

He died way to young and Theres some Mystery Surrounding his Death

Ive always wish they filmed the Voice Actors doing there roles

Imaging wathcing an old G1 Episode with a Split Screen and you watch the Episode on the top and the Voice Actors on the Bottom

I wish they talked about him more on the Transformers Movie DVD

There were rumors that he had a drug addiction and died of an overdose.

I rememeber hearing Susan Blue stating something along the lines of him being a very talented actor with his demons or something like that.

I think this is part of the reason that Starscream was killed off in the movie and Cobra Commander was turned into a snake in the GIJOE movie, because Sunbow was tired of constantly bailing him out of trouble and it got to the point that no one wanted to work with him because of his problem.

Of course I don't know this for sure, but I know I heard this somewhere.

Chris Latta will always be Starscream and Cobra Commander for me--his voice----I will always love it.

Actually I think he died from throat cancer. Seems like I read that somewhere. Gosh...makes you wonder how hard it must have been for him and how hard it was on his voice and throat to do what he did. But he may have been a heavy smoker on top of pushing the limits of his vocal chords as he obviously must have done. But who knows? Where one of us may try the voices he did and it feels like swallowing glass (lol), it may have come naturally to him with little effort. God bless him. He brought me alot of enjoyment as a kid...

Well I'm not sure how it is that he died. I heard the drugs rumor but this about him having cancer is something new, though it might have some light to why he was taken off Transformers and GI Joe. After watching Season 3 of Transformers these last few days and watching episodes such as Starscream's Ghost, Ghost in the Machine, and Only Human. I was noticing that his voice was more raspy then usual as if he was having some kind of throat problem. So I do believe that he may have had the throat cancer. How he died though maybe it was the drugs or maybe it was the cancer. I wish there could be some light shed on that.

I did this pull this out of Wikipedia, do not know how accurate this is:

Christopher Collins died on June 12, 1994, his cause of death officially recorded as a cerebral hemorrhage following a long illness. Although his contemporaries have spoken fondly of Latta, some have made cryptically suggestive comments on the nature of his death, including Peter Cullen (who remarked that he was a victim of Hollywood's tendency to "devour its young"[1]), Susan Blu (who said that Latta was "a sweet guy who had his demons"[2]), and Flint Dille (who noted on the commentary track for the 20th anniversary DVD release of The Transformers: The Movie that he and other members of the production staff had to bail Latta out of jail on several occasions, and that they "never really found out" how he died).

The Cerebral Hemorrhage could be caused by a drug overdose and the long illness could be the throat cancer. So though he had the throat cancer it may have been the drugs that did him in, in the end.

Yeah, I was taken back to hear that the voice to 2 of my favorite characters as a kid had died, Starscream and Cobra Commander!! Afterwards I found out just how many characters he did on GI JOE, a lot!!

If you want to see what he looks like, check out Road House, the en-edited for TV version!! He's the guy before Swayze takes over who invites one of the other patrons if he wanted to kiss his wife/girlfriend's "assets" for 20 bucks. He starts the fight in movie after the other guy can't pay the 20 bucks but has been handling said assets all this time!!! He really sounds like Gung Ho, without the deep voice though!!

Oh and if you're a Next Gen fan, he's the alien commander who kidnaps Geordie and forces him to make his ship go fast!!!

I've heard/read the official explanation about the hemorrhage, and have heard about the overdose one as well!! Have never heard about the cancer one though!!!

Whatever his demons, he had a unique voice, and has never been able to be replaced!!! RIP
