I was in my walmart yesterday grocery shopping so I as usual am curious and hit toys

 

Now here I am going to the Transformers section and me without money to buy toys but to get food

 

I noticed a box on the floor I thought it was wave 5

 

I wanted to rip the box open it I figured it wasn't worth getting caught and I had only money for food

 

I have to go back to today because I was just resupplied with some money

 

So I went back today and it was wave 6 they had

 

I grabbed Supes,Shazam and Hawkman

I got my wave 5 set from RJones today. All the figures have decent paint jobs. Only Atom's atom symbol is slightly off center on his head, otherwise everyone else looks great. I'm not really a big fan of Build-a-Figures. I can see why it's a good idea but it can be a problem for those collectors who want to collect everything and there happens to be a short packed or hard to find figure, such as Aquaman. They need to design these BAF figures so that their parts stick together and stay together. My Metallo's legs and have the Metamorpho problem. It looks like I might have to do a bit of carving to fix it. I gave props to RJones in the trader feedback section but will give it again here. He's cool to deal with.

I also got my Riddler today from RJones, seeing as it's the only figure I wanted from the wave. Looks great!

Kalibak is a vast improvement over the CnC figures,his limbs snap into the joint and then it stays,way better than Metallo.

I went to a Wal Mart today and found the Atom. The only problem is that it has two right hands. I could talk myself into buying a screwed up figure. Bad enough when the distribution is really bad, but when you find a figure...it is a defect?! Mattel is lucky that their customer support service thing was closed for the evening. The Atom is all that I need to complete the wave and build Metallo.

Lol, never even seen it. Luckily, the only one I was interested in was Eradicator, and even that not too much since they screwed his visor up.

I've seen neither hide nor hair of EITHER in the northern suburbs of Chicago. The Walmart Exclusive wave hasn't surfaced here (that's 5, right???).

 

The distribution of this product is apparently almost as bad as their quality control.

Last time I checked, the Walmart near me didn't have any DCUC, so no Wave 5 yet. In the latest Q&A with Mattel, they said they're still shipping Wave 5 to Walmart, so all hope isn't lost yet for those still hoping to find it.

That's what I am banking on. There were 3 out of 12 Walmarts I visited in my state who had the wave 5. Any other stores were too far out of an acceptible 'what-if' travel radius. Still, from what I have seen here, that's a LOT of stores for such a small area! And a small percentage to have such an exclusive product in.

 

I saw the same Q&A, and I suspect what we are seeing now in the way of wave 6 was actually supposed to have been wave 5, seeing as how no one else (Target, TrU, etc) has 6. They re-set with the wrong wave, starting out in CA.

 

I have yet (pre-5) to be disappointed in anything, any line, the stores around me have carried. They may be slow, but they have always provided what I was looking for. As such, I must believe in what I have postulated. My prediction is that we have seen the blunder wave 6, will next see a replenishment of wave 5, and then proceed with the remainder of 6, the cases that had 2 Shazams.

 

No matter the crapitude of any of the various stores in my small, but apparently populated state, given patience, I have always ended up with what I started out looking for. What sucks is since we have this wonderful internet, and since suppliers do not have set release dates, we are all scrambling for shards of self-imposed quantities. Not true for everyone, I agree, but have the faith - those of us with more will gladly help out those with less, if only to clear the shelves for 'the next release'!

My latest fiasco with wave 5 went this way.

I talked to 3 toy managers out of the 5 WM's in my area. They all had pretty much said the same thing about either having no control over what is sent to them from the distribution center, and/or not being able to order toys that are not on there "mod." No one really had a clear answer on how to go about getting some in. Eventually they either said it was all Mattel's fault because they are the maunfacturer, or they said I needed to talk to the WM toy buyer for the area. I guess like a district/regional manager.

So, I decided to call both.

I called Mattel first. The lady couldn't help me, or tell me anything other than it was a WM problem because Mattel made the figures available, but WM was responsible for buying and distributing the figures.

I called my closest WM and talked to a lady pretty high up on the food chain, though I can't remember her title. She listened when I forced her too, but it was easy to tell she didn't want to be talking to a toy collector! Long conversation short, I told her what the Mattel lady said. Of course the WM lady said "it's not that cut and dry about Mattel making the figures available to to WM, they are not always available everywhere." I said well why wouldn't WM make them available everywhere if they are a store exclusive? She then said simply, "Just because it's a store exclusive, doesn't mean they will be available in all areas, and I just may live in one of those areas." She also said she would check to see if they would be offered in my area, and call me back. She did call me back, but said that they couldn't be ordered, which I already knew, and that I probibly missed them. That is unlikely since i'm in the stores almost daily, and only 1 WM even has any wave 6.

So, i'm kinda pissed that WM and it's employees don't really give a crap about there customers concerns and wants. The WM lady even through in the whole economy deal and that people are more concerned about buying food, not toys! That kinda pissed me off too, but I guess she is right.
