New Sonic Figures!

In regards to MK, I was never really a fan so the only thing exciting about the release of MK photos, is the hope that Sonic photos may not be far behind I will however be excited to see their Street Fighter line

 

Rocksteady, Jazwares has said something along the lines of late July to early August as tentative release dates for the classic figures to be released

Thanks bro!! So hopefully these next 2-3 months will fly and we'll get our figures

 

And they got a Street Fighter line coming too? :0 I really am behind V_V Gotta go google the line up for that!

In other news, Jazwares wrote on facebook that SEGA didn't design Mighty, so they can't make a figure of him until SEGA puts him into a newer game.

 

Sounds kinda strange. If Sega didn't design him, then who did? And if SEGA didn't, how were they able to put him in the old games, and what would give them the right to put him in newer games?

 

Also, surely if SEGA can legally give Archie Comics the right to use Mighty in their licensed comic book series, than they should have the rights to give a toy company his likeness as well. I dunno. Sounds off to me.

 

 

I'd love if he came back into the game series. But I'd love it more if I could just have a figure of him

I think what he means is that they'll need an official modern version of Mighty before they can make him. Mighty of course was conceived around the same time Sonic himself was. He's definitely a SEGA creation.

 

This also confirms that the "classic" line is going to be EXTREMELY limited.

 

On the other hand, another wave of Sonic Free Riders was just confirmed!

YES I saw the riders announcement too! I really hope we get Wave and Storm. I didn't buy Riders Sonic cuz it's basically the same figure with some goggles and a board. But my Jet looks very lonely without the other Babylons. Can't wait to hear what they're planning with that

 

And yes I imagine you're right about waiting for a modern design to make classic characters (as they have with the generation cast). And I guess a classic Mighty might look a little weird next to modern Espio, Vector, and Charmy, so I see the point there. Guess it's in SEGA's court then. Is there petitions to bring classic characters back to the series? Do they have any effect on SEGA at all?

Well I'll play the optimist card here: Maybe Jazwares isn't allowed to announce Mighty/Nack/etc figures because SEGA won't let them reveal spoilers as to which characters may make their return in Generations! But perhaps they'll appear in wave 2 AFTER the game is released!

Hmm, well, I've been able to get hold of SFR Jet fine (and SFR Sonic had plenty of stock too) even here in Britain, so I should be able to pick up the new wave with Wave (and maybe Storm, if he's in it) easy too.

 

 

And, honestly, I'm not interested in the classic line. It's just characters I have, only a bit different (and for the ones who are more different, I have F4F to cover that). Now, if they announced classic Chaotix figures (that is, the modern Chaotix, but the classic designs, not the whole classic Chaotix), I'd snap them up in a heartbeat!

SuperSawnyc: They mentioned it very briefly on their Facebook wall. Someone asked if they could make Silver and other characters with their hover boards, and Jazwares said they're working on new figures for Free Riders.

 

Polar, I know what you mean. Honestly, I wish these figures were announced after or around the same time as Sonic Generations. We got our hopes up because we expected something a lot more (as in we assumed this was just a general classic Sonic line that could cover any classic game). Jazwares pretty much confirmed that these are Generations figures. Still, I wouldn't recommend passing up on these, as they are superior to the First4Figures guys in my opinion. Not only are they articulated, but they're likely to be much more accurate, as SEGA now has 3D models for the classic characters, and Jazwares is using them to make these figures. First4Figures based their stuff off of artwork. Looking at the First4Figures 12" Sonic statue and comparing it to the 3D Classic Sonic model makes me see how inaccurate their stuff is. I mean, they're not bad by any means, but I think Jazwares' stuff will be superior.

Yeah, I ordered the First4 figs from my comic retailer, just because I needed something to hold me over until the next Jazwares wave came out. I'll still be getting the Jazwares classic line, because I agree they will look much better, but I also agree that it seems like "more of the same" since we already have OTHER versions of these same characters.

 

But as I've mentioned earlier, even if this is just a "Generations" wave (which seems to have SEGA's mandate all over it) I'll be cool with it because if Game Modern Sonic can meet Game Classic Sonic, I guess it's kinda cool that Jazwares Modern Sonic can chill on my shelf with Classic Jazwares Sonic. He's almost going to become his own character now, which is an interesting way to look at it.

 

Doesn't change the fact that I still REALLY want some NEW characters to add to my collection

Wow, I'm glad that they will make more from Sonic Riders line. I wanted to get Wave and Storm, and possibly more in Rider outfit. It sorta doesn't matter what Rider game they came from, since they all have same outfit, although their board is different, but that's it. (Well, I like their boards the most in original Sonic Riders)

 

And yeah, to be honest, I'm still trilled about new figures, because Jazwares is the best in making Sonic figures. Don't forget, they are making some baddies, Egg Pawns, GUN Beetles, etc... So we aren't getting just classic figures.But I'll wait on classic Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy/MetalSonic. If they make any classic characters that aren't well known characters like Episo, Charmy, Vector, Bean, Fang, Mighty, etc, then I'll start buying classic figures. But I am still going to get Dr. Robotnik with two Egg Robos, because Egg Robos are very underrated and hey are ones of my most favorite robot characters in Sonic games. If the price for Dr. Robotnik with two Eggrobos is low, I might get it twice. So I'll have four Egg Robos!

 

Besides, if I wait on classic well-known characters, they might will get flaws and then Jazwares fix them as they start making new classic characters that we don't get before.

 

And I think everyone ignored my "Where to find colored diamonds" post. D: But yeah... Jazwares is the best company when it come to Sonic figures. I can see why you aren't that excited about getting classic figures, but you gotta remember, the cast of classic characters is fairly small. And it doesn't help that characters like Mighty, Tails Doll, Bean, Bark, Metal Knuckles probably have 1% chance of being made, so it makes the cast of classic figures being much smaller. Still, we are definitely getting more baddies in future for classic line, and hopefully Robotnik bosses.

 

And to be honest, I could care less that Jazwares will make toys of Adventure Time and I find it VERY weird and random that they will make toys from Fanboy show, I hated that show so much, it just disturb me... But yeah, I just hope that it doesn't slow the development of Sonic figures. =/

Wow, you are right... I'll take any classic characters. I haven't really thought of that. I should get all of them since I loved Sonic CD (featured classic version of Sonic, Metal Sonic, Amy, and Eggman), along with Sonic 3 that featured Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Egg Robos... So, I should get them all...

 

And I hope there will be packs of badniks without characters with them at some point, so fans don't get double of characters when fans really want more of badniks. Still, double characters aren't always bad, they can be proved as back-up if your existing figure break or get lost, and they can be also used as becoming custom figures!

 

If you want my opinions, I really think Jazwares will possibly make few more classic characters that we don't really expect. (Can be found through comments in Jazwares' Facebook page, you just gotta go scroll down a LOT.)

 

Jazwares: The problem is that Mighty was not designed by SEGA, so we can't make him. If SEGA ever puts him into one of the new games, then it's game on!

 

Jazwares: The articulated figures we are making are from the new game Sonic Generations, so there are some slight differences. But we plan on making every Classic Sonic figure we can!

 

It's possible that they are hiding something amazing for us... Fang or Mighty might possibly become featured in Sonic Generations and we didn't know. Only time will tell... If Sega got them in, oh boy... It's too good to be true. That will provide a HUGE great surprise for many classic fans!

And Comet, I also hope they release something like badnik box sets down the road. I'll buy doubles of figures to get their partnered badniks the first time around. But having multiple motobugs, spinas, etc, would be really cool.

 

If they re-release just the badniks in a badnik pack I'll totally double or triple up on those But I won't buy three of the same Sonic fig just to increase my badnik count (egg Robo being a possible exception)

 

Anyone else hoping for a Crabmeat badnik? I always liked the design on that one

I do like Crabmeat, as well. What about awesome penguin robots from Ice Cap in Sonic 3? Or Shark robots from Hydro City in Sonic 3? (Those shark robots made appearance in Sonic 4, too!) I'd like to get those... I'd also love to get badniks from Sonic CD, most of them are really awesome, like those...

Yeah, I wish they had gone with the original caterkiller design for the worm badnik that their releasing in the first wave.

 

These all would be great. I wonder if they'd fuse in Grounder's design with the TV show version?

 

From Sonic 2, I think Coconuts would be cool. And I always liked the Hill Top Zone baddies: Spiker & Rexon (the dinosaur, where you could only destroy the head and neck).

 

And Ribot from Sonic 3 has a really interesting design

Also, how do you guys pronounce "Hydrocity Zone?"

Is it like "Hydro-city" or "Hydrocity" with the words fused to make one word? Or maybe like "Hydrawcity" again with the words fused. That's always how I've said it.

Yeah, I think I always said "Hydrawcity" as well. Not too much emphasis on the "W" though. Almost more like "Hydrahcity" (rhymes with Velocity).

 

But, considering it's a water level, I think "Hydro-City" is probably the correct pronunciation.

 

If they wanted us to say Hydro City, they should have just made it two words o_0

It's funny that this kinda stuff happens so much less frequently now that video game characters talk. I spent my childhood thinking that the dark twin of NiGHTS was Reala (pronounced Ree-La).

 

Than Journey into Dreams comes out 10 years later and I hear them say "Ree-Ah-La". I had to sit back for a minute and regain my composure. It was like my life had been a lie
