I've posted this on a couple of Joe-related sites, but since I've begun posting instead of just lurking here I figured I might as well toss him up here too.

For those unfamiliar:

Drizzt

Based more or less on the cover of 'The Crystal Shard', original art by Larry Elmore.

Away we go.

(Boring construction/technical stuff follows)

This one took a lot more work than even I expected. I figured it would take some cutting and obviously I knew a lot of paint work would be involved.

My first issue came about when I tried to boil-n-pop the Parka SE lower arms. I don't know exactly why, but when I tried to pop the left arm what I got was the glove and forearm, without the peg/joint that attaches to the upper arm. The 'hook' part had broken, just enough to let the lower arm out but without coming apart from the upper arm itself. So, back into the water it went for a few minutes, and it still was being a pain. I wound up having to pull the dang thing out with pliers. Then, after I got all that reassembled it seemed that the peg on the left side was in fact larger than the one on the right, so I had to Dremel out the bluesuit arm a bit to make it fit. THEN, the bluesuit arms wound up being too big for the SS torso, so I had to cut and whittle and dremel those, and the torso itself, to get them to fit. Whew.

Luckily, the legs were pretty much a straight paintjob. Paint wear in the usual areas was eliminated with the Super Glue trick. Repainted the knife so the blade wasn't tan like Spirit's (yuck), but you can't see that in the photos.

The cape/hood/collar assembly was a bit touchy as well. As you can see it doesn't fit 'exactly' right, but it's close, as close as my limited ability will allow. One day I'll get brave and sculpt something. One day.

The swords were ordered from Trigate Creations. They shipped quick and the swords rock; kept me from having to buy two IJ Cairo Swordsmen just for the blades. I ordered their elf head sculpt as well, but it's...oversized for the 25th figures IMO. I'm gonna see what I can come up with for it on another figure. I toyed around with using a repainted Duke head but didn't want to sculpt the extra hair. So, Tomax wound up in the role; his hair is a bit short but I was cutting it close on real estate room around the collar anyway.

Guenhwyvar I picked up at Wal-Mart for 2 bucks. It's a lioness figure, and probably not as big as Guen really should be, but finding any kind of large cat in that scale that wasn't a male lion was close enough for me.

That's about it. I'm working on a Wulfgar to go along with him, but he has his own set of complications I'm trying to sort out so he may be a bit.
