Hope we see pictures soon

Pictures are up at gijoeclub.com. And i must say they are looking sweeter than I imagined.

BTW I'm new here and would like to say hello to all.

Welcome.

I'm also not sure what the deal is with linking to pics. So I will also say, go check the club site. Great pics are available.

Here is a breakdown of what we are getting:

FLAK w/Outback: A quick comparison to the original leads me to believe it is the same mold. I can't see any real differences or changes. The new one has more paint apps and is a lighter colour, but otherwise looks the exact same. OUTBACK has his full name "Stuart OUTBACK Selkirk" so I guess they lost that name as well. Thank god for creative legal naming. The figure looks to have a new head and web gear. He looks to have gloves as well. The rest will probably be parts of other figures. Overall he looks pretty sweet, and a must have.

CLAW w/Stratoviper: Well the third time is the charm I guess. Now we get a red CLAW instead of white. As well we get 2 bombs as well as the 2 missiles. The missiles are black, and the bombs are white. The red is a surprising good colour for this mold. I think it makes the CLAW look much better than the white. Yes it is still a chincy mold, but this improves it in my opinion. The STRATOVIPER is another favourite of mine and I am gald to see him. The figure looks to have a a new head and web gear/vest. The vest/web gear looks like it is just put on over the figure. Again, I'm sure the rest of the figure is parts. Either way, I love this figure.

STINGER w/Stinger Commander: WOW!! I loved this vehicle as a kid, and this one looks to be an improvement on the original and the new VAMP. It has the doors and roof, as expected. Then the "grill" is changed from the vamp to match the original (no bar lights). The gas can rack is gone, with just a bar and step platform. They took out the "pack on the hood and replaced it with a canister/tank?. Finally the nice little touch. They got rid of the removable shovel and replaced it with a gun!! That's a great little touch Hasbro. As for the Commander, he looks to be a straight repaint, but with a Cobra Bazooka soldier head and red mask. This is a must have for sure!!!

Arctic HISS w/Arctic HISS Driver: This one has me torn. On the one hand, I love the fact that we get a new HISS that isn't black, blue or crimson. On the other hand, I'm not sure how well this is pulled off. I like the white, but I'm not sure if I like it just being plain white, or if I wanted some sort of "camo" look. I think I prefer just the plain white, but I'll have to see it in person to be certain. I appreciate the change to the STINGER's missile rack, from the turret. It makes for a nice change, but I can't see the point in this when it basically means you transport a HISS all that way and it can only shoot 4 missiles and it's done? Again, I'm kind of torn, but I like the attempt overall. I really like the added rack with blankets. Again a nice little touch to add some variety. As for the Arctic HISS Driver. Again I'm torn. I think I would have preferred another Cobra Trooper (maybe Snow Serpent), but at least this isn't just a straight repaint. I love that he has winter gear and even binoculars!!! I like the paint scheme and think it adds to the ranks fairly well.

Ok not exactly but close enough. ;)

I like how absolutely PERFECT that Strato-Viper is. I was terrified he'd be a heavy re-use of parts figure, but he looks to be mostly original (Head, arms, lower legs, and the torso beneath the add-on plastic gear looks unfamiliar) and out of this world.

It's funny - sometimes Hasbro doesn't go the extra limit with vehicle figures (Tele Viper's boots not being 'pants', Steeler, ect) but these are just above and beyond the call of duty. Even the HISS driver and Stinger driver look outstanding. I can't wait to put them besides their respective arctic and grey-garbed soldier comrades.

I'm really glad I pre-ordered these, and see the hunt for a good 'attack group' of Night Raven pilots becoming a bit expensive ; D

Don't worry, I'll buy a few extra just so I can say I have them and you don't! :)

I am impressed with these actually.

Didn't expect much from FLAK and Outback.

Strato-Viper is beautiful. Claw is just another flat piece of plastic to me.

I never had an original Stinger, just the Tiger Force version, and I like the Stinger Commander. Very happy to have someone to lead my Stinger Drivers!

The Arctic Hiss looks easily transformable into a hiss with a gun turrent, and it looks like the park with the blanket/camo-covering can come off... (Compare it to another Hiss they've released to understand better.)

Yeah, I'm probably gonna swap mine out. I have a couple of black HISS's's's's's, and it makes more sense that one of them would have rockets rather than the ONLY vehicle supporting my arctic team having only having four shots before it's out of commision. I do commend Hasbo for making this one different enought that collectors are going to want to buy it.

Oh baby... these are all amazing. BOUGHT.

OUTBACK has his full name "Stuart OUTBACK Selkirk" so I guess they lost that name as well. Thank god for creative legal naming.

I know, that one instantly angered me. Seriously, that's the best they can do? Once again, I have to wonder how hard it would be to simply get "Code Name: ___ (Steeler, Cutter, Hawk, Outback, etc)" as the actual name. It would certainly look a LOT better on the package and stand.

I'm pretty excited about these, though I have a few minor gripes.

We're getting the Stinger again, but I already have two and this one isn't that much different from the original. Some night camo or something would have made it stand out even more, similar to the Rattler 4wd from 98. I may still pick it up, but I just wish the paint scheme was subtly different from the original.

I'm really glad the HISS is white, but I miss the turret. It's neat that they tried something different, but like it's been said, what do you do when you shoot all your missiles off? I'm really happy with the driver though. I'm glad it's not a straight repaint of the Hiss Driver or Snow Serpent.

The Twin Battle Gun was released a few years ago so it's cool to get the Flak Gun now. Outback looks pretty good and the Strato Viper is also fairly spot on. I'm glad they're not chintzing out on the figures with these sets like they've done in some of the other ones. I don't have the current Claw so I don't know first-hand how the quality is, but the red is more attractive than white for sure.

I can see where you're coming from Sev, but look at it like this - this is the first Stinger we're getting in the modern era line, even though we've seen it around before.

As for when the HISS runs out of missiles... no infinite ammo code in GI Joe - sometimes, your magazine is empty or your missile rack is spent : )

I see what you're getting at... but this is supposed to be a classic/retro line. If they don't get that 'original version' out there first, a la the HISS, CLAW, AWE Striker, and even the Trubble Bubble, then people tend to get annoyed. The fans tend to feel cheated when the 'variation' comes out before the 'original'. Also consider Zartan for a moment... It'd be like having Jet Pack Duke be the first Duke figure out- sure, it's nice and all, but that's not the classic/retro look of the original toy. Once that first 'original' Duke was out... the floodgates opened.

If you don't like it/already have it... well, take a cue from the other vehicles. You'll probably be seeing it again. I want a Crimson Guard version myself; I've always thought that would be pretty cool.

You must have missed the DIC series. Missiles would just pop up right up into the empty tubes/pylons as they were fired. Annoyed the heck out of me as a kid- No one ever gets hurt by missiles (and most other things) in Joe, so what's the point of infinite missiles? The only thing that was good for was causing more property damage, which seems contrary to the goals of both groups.

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think anyone ever ran out of ammo in the Sunbow series either. Ordnance, maybe, but not ammo.

I have a feeling I'll see all of these with oddball figures in them after people buy them and return them with Knock off Joes in place of the real ones. I saw an old school slip stream in a conquest box at Target yesterday with a rubbed of nose and all.

I dunno. Both Breaker and Clutch got new names (Cpl. Breaker and Double Clutch respectively) and the stand I have say "Breaker" and "Clutch".

True enough... but I'll bet you also have Ralph "Steeler" Pulaski, G.I.Joe Cutter, G.I.Joe Hawk, Agent Scarlett, SSGT Rock N' Roll, Nemesis Immortal, and so on. The ones who get their original names anyway/by accident/whatever the cause aren't nearly as many as the ones who have to suffer with some lame variation.

Actually Steeler and Scarlett say just that. I think has to do with getting the filename of the character as much as the codename.

For example, Dusty version 5 went by the filename "Jeffrey Paquette" before going back to "Ronald Tadur". Or Lifeline version 1 to 3 had the filename "Edwin Steen" while versions 4 and 5 had the filename "Greg Scott".
