DCUC WAVE 5 PICS

Can they do Superboy without calling it Superboy?

I think the most common thoughts on this would be "Superman's Teenaged Clone" or just Kon-el/Connor Kent.

Why would he not be called Superboy?

Because the Estates of Siegel and Shuster is either contesting DC's right to the name, or has already won the rights to Superboy away from them.

The Kryptonian Kid

Super Lad

Superman jr

Carbon Copy

:P :P :P :P

All the in-package poses are terrible, especially Black Lightning. It looks like he's dancing.

It looks like he's doing Pee Wee's dance from Pee Wee's Big Adventure, the on in the biker bar!!!

@loll@

Anyways, the only ones I'll be picking up for myself are Atom and Amazo, just cause they look just right!!!!

Someone please tell me that Kryptonite in Metallo's chest actually lights up. Please, please tell me it's true.

Atom seems a little buff to me... but on the other hand, one of the reasons I've had no issues with the 'buffness' of all the figures is that it's easy to find artists who do draw these guys to look that ripped. Shame he doesn't come with a tiny Atom though.

Riddler has always been the one I wasn't fond of in this wave, and my thoughts haven't changed much. I'll probably pick him up for completeness, but I'm so fond of the DCD Riddler (Hush series) that he'll likely end up being customized into one of DC's many other suited characters.

black lightnings pose is funny it looks like he is doing "something" to "something" :D O & before you laugh at me you pictured it I just put the idea there :P

My thought was more of a "Black Lightning- Macarena Superstar!" type, but yeah, that pose is something else. :)

Actually like in his JLU version he should of had a smaller version of himself

I totally agree. I'm amazed they didn't put a little one inch version in the package, even if it was just a static figurine. Seems like a no-brainer.

Kon-El also hated that name, atleast initially. Howsabout "Superman: 90's Kon-el" or whatever title he was in during "Reign"?

  • 1 month later...

This was a very cost effective wave for Mattel & the 4HM to do for Walmart whom if you all remember, was not on board with carrying this line when it was 1st announced. Now that they see what a hit it is, they want a piece of the pie & insist on a Walmart only exclusive & as of wave 2, jumped on board the DCUC bandwagon.

Now I don't know if Walmart asked for these specific characters ( Doubt it, since all these execs know is Superbats) or Mattel/4HM said, "Freak it, let's give em charatcers that we can easily make out of the existing body parts & buck bodies we already have." Only retooling done would be for the heads, maybe forearms. Black Manta's body was probably used for BL, as was Atom, Clark Kent was used for Riddler, Amazo was probably a Reddy body, new Forearms. Eradicator was a Red/Blue supes body sculpt. Only brand new sculpt was the Awesome Mettalo.

Cheap looking wave? Maybe, but if it looks that way, it's Mattel's/4HM way of sticking it to Walmart for not having confidence in the line from the get go.

Just my 2 cents.

Man, I would love to own this wave in particular for the Riddler (great body for a custom), the Black Lightning (does he come with any energy accessories?), and Metallo!!!!

The Eradicator would have been better if it had the full face covering mask that they are now featuring him wiht in the comics. Just another copy of Kal-El is getting quite boring!!!!!

FOUND BY ANOTHER GUY......

Found in Springfield, OR! I picked up the whole case, and the box as well. It contains:

2x Riddler

1x everyone else

Unfortunately, my WalMart only got the one case; I scoured the pallets for more with no luck. This WalMart also already carried the line.

I checked my other two local WalMarts afterward, with no luck. Neither of those other stores carry the line.
