DCUC 2 PACK CARDED PICS

The only thing I don't like about the 2-packs is the Green Lantern set. First off, they're giving us another Hal Jordan, they could at least given us Kyle Rayner or John Stewart. Interchangeable heads? Second, why did Mattel only provide one lantern for both of the figures? I'll buy all the sets, but the GL pack is still annoying me.

the set represents when hal first got the ring.(set only has one lantern) hes packed wit the person that gave it to him......seems right to me.

If you were lucky to get every wave in your area then you have one or more of each fig in the packs (except for the Light Ray and Abin Sur) all the figures are from previous waves. I'd love to get my hands on a GL and New Gods pack

Unfortunatly there is no TRU in my part of Mississippi so when these come out please LMK so i can have my brother go look for these in Louisiana

I see what you're saying, but I want an army of different Green Lanterns, not just an army of different Hal Jordans.

I'm only gonna grab the GL pack and the New Gods..... cause everybody else I already have ....

Same here....but I am glad others are getting a chance at figures they missed. Although I would have preferred the other Batgirl because I missed her too. Perhaps they will re-release her later (I hope).

I'm surprised they didn't go with Cassie, and went with Babs. I'm sure most collectors had more of a chance getting her instead of Cassie.

The Green Lanterns pack is a bit disappointing, putting in a new character in with one that's already out is lame to me.

yeah thinking about it this would have been the perfect chance to put out a "charged" or "emerald" or whatever they want to call it ... clear green version of hal!!! Or even A FA version of hal before he even became A GL considering who is with him there in the two pack it would make perfect sense!

This line seems to be getting better!

Very much so! Shame I still need series 2 &3 :S

Put me down for these pogo :D

Batgirl & Azrael

Abin Sur & Hal Jordan

Cyborg Superman & Mongul

Never managed to score any of these originally!

I can't help but wish they had painted Cyborg Superman right this time around for the 2 pack.....cause I've always thought he looks like a knock off next to the DCD version (wish I had the DCD version).

I wish they brightened up her colors or something to make her look like a better fit with Detective Batman and the rest of the Classics. This one looks just like the Batgirl from the old DCSH Two-Pack-- not even a varient!

I'm with you. They should change the color schemes a little to make them unique and more in line with DCUC.

I think all the re-releases of DC Superheroes figures need different paint applications. That'd just be smart business by Mattel to encourage people who already have them to buy these, too. What's the point of releasing the exact same figures all over again?

belive me i agree why put out the same figures. but they know that people will still pick it up just to have it or with new packageing it makes it different from the other one. lol thats the lie i tell my self. but dcd does it too. the company knows true figure freaks will buy it no matter what.

Actually as hard as it is to pick up these figures I'm sure Mattel thinks they are doing everyone a favor by putting out a few figures that are already available to sort of catch some people up. I know its hard as hell to find these figures at Target, Walmart and TRU so this helps me out.

You're probably right, and I agree that they're doing people a favor. Cyborg Superman goes for $50 to $100 on eBay. Azrael isn't cheap, either, so they're helping us out. I'm glad they're doing it, too, no matter what they look like. I'd just like to see brighter paint apps to make them fit in better with the other DCUC figures. A bright red Azrael would be sweet.

right. i got lucky and caught cyborg supes for 20.00...the 50-100 dollar price was crazy! mattel briging azrael, batgirl, cyborg superman, and mongul was a great idea.

Back in the days of DCSH, I picked up Cyborg Supes for something like $6 at Big Lots, not even realizing he was rare. I could have made a killing off the 2-3 others they had, or at least traded to get some of the equally hard-to-find stuff from the Batman wave.

Ah well, live and learn.

The issue is that if MAttel did do repaints like other companies as oppose to repackagin old figures, ppl would complain about repaints.and their arguement would be that they should have repackaged old figures since the old ones were hard to find.

Honestly, this is my first time reading ppl complaining about not having repainted figures and I assume a few are complaining so that they either don't have to get the same figure twice or they would like to think their old figure is still rare and limited.

For me, the only old figure I need from these two packs is Cyborg Superman since Azrael was eaasy for me to get. Regardless, I think it is nice for MAttel to make Azrael available for those who had a tough time finding him before and those who haven't got into DC during the DCSH line.

I think the point of releasin the same toy again is what I have mentioned above and also, not everyone likes repaints. I also do not think repaints would solve the issue of ppl who already have an older version of the same mold. One can look at a few pages in this thread and see that ppl are complaining about the two pack Green Lantern toy, which is a repaint and are asking for another lantern. I understand that Hal is new, but the point is that even with repaints, someone is goin to complain that they would rather have a new toy, defeatin the purpose of these two packs, which were to offer older figures as two packs for those who wants them.

The other side of the argument you're failing to consider is that people paid a lot of money and continue to do so for Cyborg Superman and Azrael on eBay, and these 2-packs (apparently) contain identical versions that will be readily available for a fraction of what people have been shelling out for.

If you release different versions, those DCSH Cyborg Supermans and Azraels still hold their value because they're unique. If you essentially re-release a figure, you greatly reduce the value of the older versions and, more importantly, make the extra money spent to acquire them a total waste.

If I had paid $80 for a Cyborg Superman and $40 for Azrael, I'd be more than a little put out with Mattel for releasing these figures again. I wouldn't be upset about their value coming down; I'd be upset that I spent $100 extra for no good reason.

That's why I think it's a better idea to slightly alter these with a brighter paint app so they're a lot like the DCSH versions people didn't get and still want but don't entirely take away from the originals.

There is a saying of buyer beware. Besides, no one is forced to spend 100s for a toy that later was released months later in a discount price. There are times I have spent money on a rare figure off of ebay that was later reissued for a cheaper price. I really don't care since toy collecting should just be about money. It should be about what you like and what you want. Also, some uses the rarity as an excuse to sell old toys that are in terrible condition for several hundred dollars. Before Megatron was reissued by Takara, a junker with missing parts would go for at least 80 dollars.

As for your comment about them bein unique enough for the original to hold their value, that isn't true since they might still loose their value and the newer version might be more rarer. I remember how the repaint X-men Sauron is worth more than the older one without the colored in belt.

Also, loose toys, especially the more newer ones, does not go for alot in the second market especially if there is a repaint around. The only figures I know that went for alot loose are some of the bigger transformers g1 bots and some random toysets. Loose Action figures has lost their value in today's economics especially how there are a lot of ppl not opening up their toys. If you have a packaged Azarel or Cyborg Superman, it would still be worth more than the two pack version since they are the first edition figures.

Not sure about ya, but I am here to collect toys, not to buy them waiting for them to become a profit decades later. Sorry, but not everyone who collect toys wants to resell them. Besides, who is to say, Azarel or Cybrog superman will be worth 100 dollars even with or without these reissues? Years from now, MAttel might make a better Az or Cybrog supes whereas these might drop in value.

OR like the MOTU 200x line, the line is dead and has been rebooted, whereas the more sought off figs are now under 10 dollars, int or loose on ebay. Zodak, Snakemen, and Battle Fist are around 5-20 bucks on ebay.

I don't collect for value, either. Most of what's out now and in the recent past will never really be worth much anyway because there are so many collecting and keeping things MOC. Plus, with the internet, things are more readily available, thus taking a huge chunk of an item's potential resale value.

Cyborg Superman and Azrael, among a few others, ARE actually worth a little right now based on how scarce they were when they were released. Because of that, people have spent plenty of money acquiring them. Sure, everything is buy at your own risk, but at the same time, companies have shown they're aware of the secondary market and don't want to alienate fans by undercutting them with re-releases of the exact same figures.

It's the lesser of two evils, so to speak, to release slightly altered versions, though, because that way they don't affect the previously released figures and they give new people a chance to still own them. And if people have to have the original versions, they can find them on eBay.
