these things look so pretty in pics but they are a different story once they arrive at stores. Inferno has a great metallic finish on these pics - I'm sure it will be cheap plastic.

Yes how they look now is how takara will do them ... properly ... if not more so! :D

I don't see how any of the TFU stuff isn't "living" up to classics. They all look like their respective characters, and have fitting alt modes. Not to mention they are vastly superior to just about every TF line that came before. That is enough, I think.

The new tfu stuff is nowhere near as good as the original classics, imo.

Galvatron looks horrible. Powerglide is huge (should've been a deluxe, w/ galvatron as a voyager or ultra; maybe that would've helped). Prowl falls apart. Ironhide's altmode looks like a jigsaw puzzle. Silverbolt is a plane w/ a bot attached to the bottom.

Sunstreaker and tankor are pretty good, and cyclonus looks awesome, I'll give ya that. Overall though, they pale in comparison to either classics 1.0 or animated, imo.

I've heard different opinions on Galvatron. I don't have him yet so I can't say. How can you use him as an example if you don't own or have even messed with the toy at all? I do agree that he should have been bigger though.

Sorry if this next part seems rude, as its not directed at just you but really every single person that has said it.. SO %&W(* WHAT IF POWERGLIDE IS AN ULTRA?! Seriously.

Prowl doors don't fall off if you do it right, and even then, so what? Just pop them back on. That shouldn't be a deal breaker. If it is, well thats just freaking sad.

Silverbolt does have a pretty sorry alt mode. But then, the seeker mold is also just a robot hiding under a plane.

Classics had its faults too. Astrotrain's crappy train mode, Hot Rod almost being a brick, and Megatron's color scheme come to mind. I really don't see this line being worse, and in fact I think its better, partly because its going to last longer.

I think because they have reverted back to the brick style figures and don't even have articulation ... Or at least as much as the other classics do ... Heck I don't get why they went and redid bumblebee the first version was just fine imo & this one sucks compared to it !

Like Gojira said those are the legends class.. smaller guys a little bigger than the G1 minibots.. so yeah they don't have much articulation. The biggers ones do, ya goof!

You are presupposing that I haven't "messed w/ him", but in this case you're right I haven't. But then, why would I buy a toy that I don't think looks good? Certainly there are times that I change my opinion after buying or seeing a toy in person, but I don't have the type of cash (or space, for that matter) to pick up toys that look subpar. Now what I'm sayin?

Powerglide was a minibot, so seeing him tower over optimus, grimlock, galvatron, etc., just looks out of place to me. Not to mention I'm not a big fan of the bot mode.

I've seen prowl in stores, in pieces in package; that doesn't give me much confidence in the toy. Also, the paint rubbing off is unacceptable.

The seeker mold at least transforms. W/ sb, you just fold the pieces of the plane back and pull out the arms and legs.

I won't disagree that classics wasn't perfect, but I will say I have no problem w/ megs' color scheme; it looks fine to me.

Why would universe be better bc it will last longer? The more I see of universe, the less I like it, for the most part.

I hope they'll get back to designing universe toys more like the original classics, but I'm not holding my breath.

I assumed you had not, since you said he "looked" bad.

I don't disagree with this, but I was pointing out that you shouldn't use him as an example of the entire line since you don't have personal experience with it.

Well personally, I always thought Powerglide, and Warpath looked out of place being minibots. I'm not too big on the way his bot mode turned out myself, but it doesn't bother me that he's big. It just makes more sense to me.

I've never seen this myself, but I can tell you that my Prowl is very solid.

Barely! His chest flips and arms flip out, other wise he's not not much more tf'in than SB does.

For me it makes it better since I have no problem with TFU. :P So I get more of the stuff I like before the movie line takes over again.

I don't really see them as that different, its just more of the same to me.

My only problem with TFU Prowl was the paint job actually smudging under my fingertips, like it hadn't had enough time to cure since the factory. But I assumed that that was just mine, or at most a problem w/ that particular batch and that QC would catch up in a few weeks. Has it?

I for one am less than impressed with seeing a full inch of height between him and Prowl or Sunstreaker (who I bought the same day and stood him next to). I sat there for a moment wondering what I did wrong, then realized that sadly, he was just way too small.

It's really the only complaint I have about him, too. I like the details, articulation, transformation, and so on... but his mold should have been twice the size, easily. Heck, I'd buy this exact same figure again if Hasbro upped the mold.

Sorry if this next part seems rude, as its not directed at just you but really every single person that has said it.. SO %&W(* WHAT IF POWERGLIDE IS AN ULTRA?! Seriously.

I grew up with PG being 'the scrappy little plane-bot who could', not 'the guy who can stare down Devastator'. This line is supposedly meant to give us these neat retro versions of our favorite characters, not reimagine them at ten times their original size.

But with that said, I'm stoked about the Legends Minicars, and it's likely that Hasbro will tuck a PG in there, so as long as this isn't our only PG, I have no issues. Regardless, the only way I'm buying that Ultra PG is if he comes out in Cobra Rattler colors.

Agreed. His shoulder mechanics are a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, they shouldn't be a problem. Every now and then a TF can, does, and will come along that has that 'learning curve' to them.

Silverbolt does have a pretty sorry alt mode. But then, the seeker mold is also just a robot hiding under a plane.

G1 Silverbolt was a robot hiding under a plane too. I'm not seeing the issue myself. In an homage line, some things will be better, some things will be the same, and some things (looks at Galvatron staring Prowl in the nipple) will be worse. I'd put the check in the 'same' box on Silverbolt, and I can live with that.

The main problem with Silverbolt, Onslaught and Powerglide(besides the non-combiner aspects of the first two) is the ELECTRONICS. Electronics take up a lot of space, even the smaller stuff used today (think about Shockwave and Omega Supereme, for example, back in the 80s). Having to include the craptastic (and pretty pointless) electronics can significantly inhibit a toy. Take a look at how bad a lot of the sound attack Joe vehicles came out. The Ringneck, for example, would have made an AWESOME troop transport....but the rear "transport area" was filled with the electronics. We have seen some pretty intricate transformations. But not these guys.

Silverbolt's crappyness, I bet Hasbro would say it was an attempted to "give us G1", the same lame ass excuse they gave us for Major Bludd's crappy arm.

Lockdown repaint: I like the colors. New character or "energized" version (or whatever)? The blade is kinda cool, but if it doesn't fold under, its kinda limited.

Green guy with the arm cannon: I like it. I wonder how the articulation is.

Blurr: Looks interesting. I'm not sure about the hood/blade thing (whatever happen to guns?) and the articulation looks iffy.

Skywarp: Of course @firedevil@

Green tank guy: Looks pretty crappy and blocky. Is it a Happy Meal figure?

Starscream: The guns are different. I'm glad they are redoing him. I wanted to get an extra set of the guns for Ramjet.

Cyclonus: Now THAT is a "classic"!

Hound: That works.

Happy Meal Thundercracker: ?

Brawn: Nice, but how come Bumblebee gets such an improved remake?

Beachcomber: See Brawn.

Bumblebee: Oh, nevermind about Brawn and Beachcomber. But what is the point really?

Inferno: Not bad.

Vector Prime: I hope he isn't as flimsy this time.

Whatever the last guy was, he sucked the first time.

lol, that's Animated Shockwave, he's a voyager class figure, he transforms into 4 different things. an autobot robot, a decepticon robot, a tank, and a crane type thing.

Inferno looks better to me in the un-photoshopped pics. On the other hand VP looks pretty bad. They cut out some paint details from that photoshopped pic.

Yeah, VP's not lookin' so hot. What once appeared to be a shiny copper color, now looks quite brown. Maybe it's rust...

I missed this mold the first time around, in the awesome colors, but I think I'd skip this one anyway.
