TNI Shortpacked #107

Way to miss the point, Shortpacked. Comparing a mint-in-sealed-box collectible to a hideous kids' toy is just plain ignorant, unless if the ebay auction is for a Classics Sunstreaker. In which case, the guy bidding is getting owned because of his impatience, but that's another story.

Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder. If animated ratchet was released 20 years ago, maybe it'd sell for that sunstreaker price.

Do not underestimate the power of nostalgia (though I do agree that this ratchet is ugly, a g1 sunstreaker ain't worth $500..it looks pretty goofy in bot mode, not to say I wouldn't get one for a good price; nostalgia strikes again! ;) ).

How did they miss the point?! They were the one's MAKING the point... the point is... SO MANY collectors complain about prices, but to go after that ONE toy, they'll pay exorbitant prices. It's just silly, is all. No reason to get offended or anything, 1337W422102.

Hey, I'm not offended, I just think that a high-priced MISB collector's item and some ZOMG NU KOLORZ kids' toy are two different things, that's all.

Maybe I just misinterpreted the comic: the $500 could be what the seller's asking for the Sunstreaker, which would fit well with the 'not worth the money' idea. Crap, I guess I read this one wrong. Sorry, gang! @smilepunch@

But why is 'streaker so high-priced?

I think the point is, why is one considered a high-priced collectable while the other is just a kids' toy.

They're both kids' toys, but one has been around awhile and the other is new...so, in 20 years, what's changed? Both toys, imo, could be considered subpar, but w/ one ('streaker), childhood memories (and the profit-motive of the seller) have kicked in.

So what's the difference? 20 years of half-forgotten memories, and the desire to relive them.

..and ratchet looks like a chicken wearing boxer-briefs.

Supply and demand, I guess.

There is a good possibility that half of that list will become reality. However, like synch said "Everthing is pretty damn well fake untill TNI or another trustworthy site can confirm it." I for one would like to see more Green Lanterns. ;)

the joke was who would pay money for a hot dog colored toy.

You have yellow hot dogs in Canada? @smilepunch@

Yeah, it's some law about how Hot Dogs must be yellow and Frankfurters must be white.

@loll@ LMAO! Since we are talking off topic, who would buy an Oscar Mayer wiener-mobile Transformer?

I was actually poking fun at the Yellow-Butter/White-Margarine law, but maybe that's just a Quebec thing...
