Bumblebee

Yeah....so I haven't posted any topics in a while....I was just wonderin': How do you prefer Bumblebee??

He is usually portrayed in G1 form. He is cute and friendly but not much of a warrior at all. Kinda like a big (for humans) robo-teddy bear. He is primarily a scout/spy, I believe.

He generally leaves the fightin' up to other Autobots.

Well, they changed all that for the movie. He still hangs out with Spike, but he is a much more effective fighter/warrior than he was in the G1 saga. He is definitely not as cute and cuddly as the G1 version of himself. He is much more athletic/fast, being a Camaro instead of a Beetle. He's even larger, and apparently more powerful, than Jazz. This Bumblebee can actually hold his own in a fight/battle against Decepticons. :o

That's definitely not the way it was in G1. He was usually such easy prey for Decepticons back then. Wuss. <_<

Movie Optimus Prime was pretty similar to G1 OP, overall (IMO). Right down to the voice. :) I think Movie Iron Hide, Jazz, and Ratchet were pretty similar to their G1 counterparts, personality-wise, as well.

Movie Bumblebee is the Autobot whose personality/overall character changed the most from classic G1 lore to the Movie (IMO). He can't even really talk in the Movie.

So, which version do YOU prefer: Weak-but-likeable, affable Bumblebee or More macho, assertive, sporty Bumblebee??

I'm just curious. @bumblebee@

I used to think Bumblebee was worthless, but now when I watch the G1 cartoons, I just see him as small. He may not have had any brawn about him, but he was very brave. That's why I like the way the movie made him tougher and cooler. Even the Classics line made him a little bigger than he was in G1.

I guess I like a little of both. Not wimpy, but not quite Sunstreaker's caliber either.

G1 Bumblebee had tons of heart for a minibot. Never thought of him as a wimp, he was very resourceful and brave. He was no Brawn in the power department, but he got the job done when needed. I like his G1 character best.

Well, you brought up how he "never runs from a fight." I never brought that up until you did. I just called him weak, hence a wimp. My topic is about how he is rather WEAK as a warrior in the G1 saga. You could call him a wimp, even though he never runs from a fight, since Decepticons can best him rather easily in combat. That's all I was saying. :)

Hmmm.... For me I still really love G1 Bumblebee the most. I have always been a little upset that he didn't receive more screen time in the original 80's animated movie. I feel that G1 Bumblebee just had the coolest, brave attitude. I liked and admired his confidence, especially for being as small as he was ( is even now ). He certainly wasn't as strong as the majority of his fellow autobots and of course decepticons but he was never affraid to stand up to anyone of them. I actually like how the animated version of him has a lot of those same characteristics as well. That is one of the reasons why the new animated show has really grown on me, because of those similarties from the G1 show. @bumblebee@

I like Bumblebee small and capable of self-doubt, he did afterall have the voice of Spider-man from the "Amazing Friends" cartoon. Classics 'Bee was a great toy, but just too darn big (can't wait to get the new Legends-class Classic Bee they showed at SDCC). I like him as the average guy, somewhere between the humans and the bigger, badder robots. A lot of that depth couldn't be shown in the movie, the hero who is outmatched let struggles on despite his own doubts, because that version of the character couldn't talk and there really wasn't time a fast-paced action movie. Of Course, I like to see the little guy kick butt, too.
