Gave Dreamwave the comic line - renewed interest in small no name characters and explained many inconsistant issues from the past.

2 Bigscreen movies

 

Killed Optimus Prime - Gave TFs an event to be talked about forever.

 

Merged the work between Hasbro and Takara.

 

 

 

 

Negitave

 

 

Beast Machine Vehicles - Although nice try.

 

Having the same characters have the exact same personality in every series. - Leads to some staleness.

 

Crossovers with SW and Marvel - Also Animorphs.

 

Starting lines and not finishing them.

 

Killing off almost every series 1 & 2 character in the Animated Movie. The series could survive the lose of Prime but not an entirely new cast.

Positive things

-G1 had few limitations in their designs. Lamborginis, Porsches, F-15s, portable cassette players, GUNS.

-Masterpieces are some of the greatest toys ever made.

-The art that Dreamwave Comics has going for them. There are so many panels that I wish were made into posters.

-Casting Peter Cullen in the new movie for Prime. That really made all of the difference for me.

-Scatman Crothers was the first Jazz.

-Phil Lamar as the Jazz in the Animated Series.

-The '86 movie and the death of Optimus Prime made the series unforgettable.

 

 

The Negative

-More than once they abandoned the original idea of cars and machines transforming for transforming animals. I know many of you like Beast Wars, but it never caught on for me.

-Human characters are needed of course, but I was turned off more than once by the annoying kids they had on some series.

-There seems to be a "Nobody knows what a cassette player is" hang-up for not making a Masterpiece Soundwave. Who cares, it doesn't play real cassettes anyway.

-Most Transformer video games are mediocre at best. There is a golden opportunity to make a super-sweet game here if a developer would take the time to do it.

-Megan Fox being totally clothed through out the whole movie. @smilepunch@

The show was well written... But I take vehicles over beasts everytime... The main reason why Transformers transform is to be in disguise... What were they disguising from?... So they had to make up some story about energy field... Toys were no good...

I liked all the years, except Armada and Energon. I COULD NOT get into those annoying kids. I've not seen Beast Machines but I looooved Beast Wars. I've also not seen but a little bit of RiD.

Obviously I love G1... who doesn't?

 

As for dislikes, I'm not sure... it'll take some time to compile a list, b/c I've only seen really recent and really OLD toys... not much in between. And I already said I didn't like Armada and Energon.

God Ginrai = classic though that stuff pretty much the same as the g1 cartoons imo if not better... RID = something new that most likely wouldn't even be around if not for beast wars :S

Speaking of 25 years gone by, I was told that Hasbro was gonna do the samething with TF that they did with G.I. Joe, & that's re-release all the G1 TFs. is there any truth to that? & if so will they have die-cast parts?

that is sooooooooooooooo weak.

 

I think I get it now. there never gonna rerelease G1 ever again, because if they did, then every one & there momma's mamma would snatch them up like crystal meth & the "white party"!

 

& you know what that mean.............yup, the "hunger" for that perfect "near G1 TF" will be compleatly satisfied. & NONE OF US, would have the slightest passing intrest in buying the rest of that TF crap that roles off Hasbros lines.

 

I'm serious, once we've all been given that golden chance of recapturing the spirit of G1 w/G1 TFs then rediculas things like clunky Armada or what ever won't stand a chance of clearing any real sales.

 

So what do they do??? They keep us eating the same old so/so TF crap (yuck).

G1. Like it or not, it was the start of it all so it has to be here.

Beast Wars. For bringing TF's back from the brink of the scrapheap.

Reissues. But we need more of them!

MP Figs.

UNICRON. (character and figure)

Classics.

Alternators.

Cybertron line. (in my book, may be equaled but never surpassed)

The movies. (both)

The movie line.

Seeing TF's go from near death to ascending to one of the premiere collectors franchises.

 

BAD:

 

Twist ties.

Japanese made cartoons. I enjoyed them, but clearly they didn't work.

Many fugly Universe repaints. In fact, just too much repainting period.

G2.

Machine Wars.

Beast Machines. (should have been a better continuation of BW)

RID (ONLY the cartoon)

Having the toy line become prime scalper targets. (I know, nice pun!)

Iffy distribution, especially on exclusives.

The high, high, HIGH cost of being a collector!

Not enough new combiner teams.

 

UGLY:

 

Botcon. While I'm sure a nice event, it's wayyyy to exclusionary.

Exclusives. Regular retail ones are fine, but things like botcon exclusives really suck!

Armada Scavenger. (still gives me nightmares!)

Always being broke!

 

 

....and of course, if I spent all the money I blew just on gas for searching on actually buying oil stocks I'd probably be a rich man!

-The concept as a whole. It appeals to even the casual of fan.

-Combiners

-Beast Wars breathing in fresh new life to the abysmal G2

-RiD and Armada for returning to the vehicles after we were tired of animals.

-The storytelling of the characters in all series.

 

Bad:

-G2's neon colors

-Botcon's exclusives of the Seekers!

-My wallet being empty all the time for TFs.
