Specialst Trakker Figure Question

Marco

Recommended Posts

Just saw the Specialist Trakker figure and it reminds me a lot on the original version of Matt Trakker from the cartoon M.A.S.K.

The suit and even the mask looks a lot like the suit and mask Matt Trakker used to wear...

Is it based on the M.A.S.K. character?

Just in case you dont know what I'm talking about:

Specialist Trakker (GI Joe):

Matt Trakker (M.A.S.K.)

I could be wrong, but wasn't MASK a Kenner product? If so, Hasbro owns Kenner, so I'm sure they have the rights to MASK. :)

Yeah... I just found out by searching for it on google... lol...

Thats what you get when you dont really follow the GI Joe stuff that much anymore since it's impossible to get over here in the Netherlands...

Yes, Hasbro has the rights to MASK and I had heard they were looking at reviving the property at one point, but ran into issues with the name "MASK" (hence why the logo ended up modified on the Trakker card art)

Yes!, it's Matt Trakker, the upper part of the backer card even has the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand put on it, Awesome! Could other Agents be far behind?

I still think it would be cool To revitalize this line. I would love to see more M.A.S.K Figures and vehicles. In fact that little Vehicle was used in a action pack one time long time ago. It was apart of a two pack. long time ago.

Yeah, pretty much anything in-house that Kenner put out, Hasbro can use at will. Roughly half the cast from COPS showed up in the DEF/Battle Corps line... well, the codenames did, anyway.

This totally came out of left field, and I for one loved it!!! I think they need to continue releasing figures from the MASK line. I would love to see a new villain group for them to combat, such as Mile's Mayhem's VENOM!! Or have VENOM become a sub faction of Cobra.

I like it though, and will be picking this up!

I remeber back in 1996 Kenner/Hasbro came out with a short lived line ressembling MASK.The bad guy vehicles looked like they were cybornetic. The line was called Vortech. It could be possible that Sese Hasbro and Kenner are now the same company, they have the rights MASK.

Honestly, when they first announced this guy, I was furious he was taking up a product slot. But after seeing the figure, I quite like him. However, I hope he's the only crossover, Hasbro should release guys like that in a separate trial line, not as part of the waves. Just my opinion. I'll still get him though, probably a second to to a technoviper or astroviper custom.

During one of the many Q&A sessions, someone asked about that - if they were going to try to meld the two lines. Hasbro clearly stated then this was a one-shot deal, but I would imagine if the response is good, they may reconsider. I'm still stuck looking for an 1:18 diecast '84-87 IROC, though. Screw the back-mounted weed-wacker - Matt needs his ride!!!

Intersting! I appreciate the transforming action, and if there was to be such a toy, I'd think that would be it. However, I'm more into the diecast realistic look, even though it doesn't transform, and just can't believe with the plethora of makes and models available, I can find everything EXCEPT the proper IROC. I'm almost ready to get a '69 just for the hell of it.

This would probably be a better cross-over for Joe. Even though the comic had a lot of Marvel influences, they kept out of the Traditional end of the pool and only interacted with Transformers, the other successful Hasbro property. That's kind of a shame since Joes really don't do well with Giant Alien Robots-- As much as I love G2 Megatron I didn't like him in my Joe comic! I want to not like Trakker, it's cheaper that way, but you simply can't deny that he'd make a great guest star. Of course, I'm also excited about the new Marvel Fury Files figures and the prospect of Duke (who I'd give a secret SHIELD background) teaming up with Captain America or the Joes fighting the Hulk!

Jeezus! I looked right at the figure and didn't draw the parallel until this thread. I thought it might be "Tracker" using an upcoming Annihilator mold (which I still thinking they might do, if you think about it!).

Man, I would LOVE to see a Condor or a Jackhammer. A Jackhammer would be a simple retool of the VAMP or the Desert Striker. (DO IT, HASBRO!)

A Condor in the 1:18th scale would be the 'be all, end all' for me! (Come to think of it, that Annihilator backpack is colored in the Condor's paintscheme...)

Kick-Ass! That' all I can say to this! :)

iT seems ol' trakker is getting alot of Buzz around the internet, me thinks hasbro might see something they might want to consider making into a small line.

I think you're right, this figure turned out supprizingly well, and they could easily create a limited run line (like they did for the Joe/Cobra 5-packs) and then expand it if demand is there. They're doing it for Marvel characters, why not MASK?
