Okay so i have had so many favorite characters since i was little and most of them have died or had some tragic accident happen here is a short list.

Corp. Hicks (Aliens) script change resulted in killing off a great character for the movie.

Spock (Star Trek) died in the second movie

Daniel Jackson (Stargate) died several times.

Rocky Desantos (2nd red power ranger) hurt his back and replaced by a kid boy that sucked.

Ted Kord killed by max lord

Ronnie Raymond killed during identity crisis

Sean X-Pac Waltman tried to kill himself for unknown reasons

Johnny Cage killed during mk2

Kenny (South Park) funny thing is he is my favorite because he died....... go figure

Alec Deleon (Exo Squad) sacrificed himself to help win the war but was cloned and returned in the last episode. happy ending

Faramir (LOTR) got a couple arrows shot in him cause his dad was an ass.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) self sacrifice

Meanstreak (X-Men 2099) think he fell off a cliff but marvel.com says different who knows

Cyclops "died" when he and Apocalypse merged into 1 being and they didn't give him any screen time in the movies (thanks wolverine)

Nightwing Dan Didio wanted to kill him during the infinite crisis and from what i've read Didio is trying again to have him killed by making him the next Batman and then killing him.

hmmmm now that i think of it because most of my favorites seem to be doomed to die or get hurt badly and have to stand down maybe i should make wolverine one of my favorites hahahaha.

Anyone else have this problem or do i just pick the wrong person to have as a favorite

WOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!

Bringing that kind of in-depth PR knowledge to somplace outside a Power Ranger's message board. Bold move, my friend!!! :D And, speaking as a PR fan, I completely agree!!!

I also have to agree with Cyclops fro the X Men movies.

And to throw in one of my own, Quick Kick from the GI Joe comic.

Let's not forget Opitimus Prime and Megatron in the Transformer Movie (the classic cartoon version)

Dr. Octopus in Spider-man 2, although I suppose he could have been faking and swam away after sinking down.

Lem on the Shield. Anyone who watches the show knows that Shane is a bastard.

The New Warriors along with Antman, the Vision, Hawkeye, and Captain America. Bendis has one chance to fix this crap with the skrull storyline if not then he best hope we never meet in a back alley somewhere.

Jadzia Dax on ST:DS9, This one came out of left field for me. Damn it sucked.

Leo on the West Wing, true the show went downhill after the 4th season but the real life death of actor, John Spencer really stung.

Dargo on Farscape, I'm glad they did a movie to tie up all the plot points the series left unanswered but losing Dargo sucked.

Ha! Anyone who "died" and came back shouldn't count. This includes Prime, Megatron (who didn't really die but was rebuilt), Spock, and pretty much ANY comic book character you can name.

I agree with Dax from DS9, though.

How about Kirk? He really DID die, and it appears he won't be back in the new movie either.

i agree that if a character dies and comes back it doesn't count as a death i'm just saying that i always picked a favorite who was basically set to have something tragic happen to them. don't count on dc bringing a dead character back now they will just replace him/her, and as far as marvel goes i'm not holding my breath on them fixing anything i missed the way chamber used to be they won't fix him if they do anything with the skrull saga it will be to make wolverine the greatest hero in the universe who saved the earth and blah blah blah god i'm sick of him. can the we have dc vs wolverine and just end that glory hog.

I really and truly hope you're joking here... especially since Bendis isn't even the writer responsible for killing most of those characters, and two of the three you list that he DID kill are already back.

I mean, you probably are joking, but you still seem to have some misplaced ire here.

Nope not joking. Bendis killed Hawkeye. Yes I know it was only a plot point to make Wanda seem crazy...Wait that doesn't make it any better does it? OK Hawkeye is alive again but he's some kind of lame ninja now? Oy.

Bendis killed the Vision. Yes I know it was only a plot point to make Wanda seem crazy...Wait that doesn't make it any better does it? Oh Vision is kinda sorta back(not really him though is it?) and recruited the Teen Titans...Wait a minute, that's just lame.

Bendis killed Ant man. Yes I know it was only a plot point to make Wanda seem crazy...Wait that doesn't make it any better does it? Yes I know his daughter joined the Teen Titans (I know that's not really the team but they might as well have called it that) but he's still dead isn't he?

All three of these characters died in Avengers #500. Bendis wrote Avengers #500. Bendis killed the characters. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

OK I'll admit Mark Millar (he's also on my back alley list @pow@ ) killed the New Warriors, but by all accounts Bendis was there for the genesis of the idea. Same with Captain America, although at least Ed Brubaker was given this task and did it tastefully.

I'll agree with you on Optimus not really counting, although I remember being pretty upset as a kid when I saw the movie.

But Megatron is dead. Sure he got turned into Galvatron but his personality was never the same after that.

I thought I read somewhere that Kirk (Shatner) was given a last minute cameo in the new movie. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Yep, it's all true.

And if I were bestest boozome buddies with the Marvel editor in chief, I could do whatever I wanted with the characters too.

So the fact that they are back doesn't count because you don't like the way they're back? Hawkeye and Vision have histories FILLED with re-imagining, but hey, don't let that stand in the way of you wanting to physically harm someone for no other reason than being the latest in a long line of people to do so. Good thing fanboys weren't this rabid when Clint became Goliath and Vision lost his emotions, just to name a few re-inventions of the characters that sit on equal ground, but that most people consider to be classics.

And calling the Young Avengers 'Teen Titans' only shows that you haven't read the book, or more likely, were biased on it before you tried it. If anything, the proper comparison would be to the New Warriors.

OK I'll admit Mark Millar (he's also on my back alley list @pow@ ) killed the New Warriors, but by all accounts Bendis was there for the genesis of the idea. Same with Captain America, although at least Ed Brubaker was given this task and did it tastefully.

So he's responsible by default because he was there? You do realize that a good portion of the 'events', and even most of the ongoing storylines, at any company are planned in a roundtable, right? The major creators often have the story hammered out and are only running it by the rest of the staff to make sure it doesn't interfere with what they're doing, and to let them contribute any ideas and concerns. I can promise you that if Bendis was there, he was far from the only one. Not only that, but Millar and Brubaker were likely present in some form for the planning of the 'disassembling' of the Avengers, among quite probably several dozen other people. That doesn't mean any of them had anything to do with it, or that if they did, they had any control over what others did with their ideas.

One of my favorite roundtable stories is from Peter David. The X-Men staff was plotting out the 'Fatal Attractions' storyline, and PAD mused "I've never understood why Magneto puts up with fighting Wolverine. Why doesn't he just rip the metal off his bones and call it a day?" The rest of the staff thought it was brilliant, while PAD insists that he told them it was a stupid joke. The rest is history: the storyline was a sales smash, although not fondly remembered by most these days. In terms of credits, PAD's only official contribution is the X-Factor portion of the story arc, which was little more than a tie-in.

What's my point? How do you know that killing Vision wasn't Ed Brubaker's idea? How do you know that bringing back Hawkeye as a ninja wasn't David Finch's idea? How do you know killing Ant-Man wasn't suggested by the editor, who heard it from someone else? These books are not written in a vacuum, and never have been. Every story is filled with contributions from and concessions to other creators that make their job easier. It's really unfair to blame one person for anything just because their name is attached to the story.

To go back to the theme of this board, it would be like blaming Eric Treadaway of the Four Horsemen because you didn't like a DCUC figure, and he's the main sculptor. There's no guarantee that he chose the character and costume, that he wasn't told to 'tweak' the sculpt, that the sculpt wasn't marred by improper articulation or accessories that didn't work out as planned, that the machines didn't mess it up when the figure was made, etc... There's so many other hands on any creative project, especially in one of the collectible/entertainment fields, that even the 'responsible party' isn't even close to the only person that could be held accountable.

Best strap on your gloves; chances are good you have a lot of people to hit, half of whom you don't even know the name of or seem to be in no way connected.

And point of order: Brubaker wasn't given a 'task'. By his own admission, killing Steve Rogers was his idea, and was his plan for the book from issue #1. He sped up events in the book to make it tie into Civil War, but he claims full credit.
