The little things

What are some of the little things you like and dislike about TFs/Hasbro as a whole?

My main dislike is the repaints. I know I dont have to buy them but Im kind of a completionist. I dont mind if they have an actual role like seeker repaints but just to repaint with no retooling is not cool IMO.

The line I dislike is the Legends line. They seemed cool at first when they actually used molds but now they are just repaint minicons in the line.

I dislike repaints that are passed off as new toys. Example - Classics Blaster!!!! Figure is cool, but make friggin Blaster.

I also wish every storyline wasnt so similar. Animated has some of the same but mixed it up a little. RID was completely awesome with no regulars from all the generations. New Characters. Prime Vs Magnus.

RID did well so dont be scared. I dont need a Galvatron EVER episode just so you can get a repiant sold :)

I do like the way Hasbro attempts to listen to us and gets us figures we like. However I dislike the way they start and drop a line.

I don't mind repaints, but I wish if they were going to do so many of them that they would go above and beyond to make sure they are actually better than the original or just as good.

It probably wouldn't hurt if they produced less of the repaints as well.

And yes, not remolding at least some parts on them is bad. I can't imagine making a new head for it at least would break the bank.

With Hasbro always patting themselves on the back about their safety standards, there sure are lots of annoying little parts that like to fall off. Especially with animated.

NO RUBBER PARTS OR PIECES!!! God I hate that!!!

Pegs that don't hold like they should. Not a biggie, but it pops up from time to time.

Spring loaded gimmicks (not including weapons). Cuz when you accidentally knock something out of whack on them then they never seem to work right unless you open them up and reset the pieces inside which could be a major pain.

One thing that has always bugged me about some the lines in the past few years is the lack of character base on both sides. For instance Alternators and Masterpieces. For a several of years now, I have had a but# load of Autobots and MP Prime with no Decepticons to fight. FINALLY they come out with Megatron, Starscream, Skywarp, and now Thundercracker (coming soon), but what about Soundwave and the cassettes? How about a Shockwave that is not a car? For some of us completist (which I'm not really), waiting years for them to come out sucks.

I know most of us are saying "My wallet is hurting already." , but if Hasbro would have made more MP Starscreams and Thundercracker/Skywarp repaints, I think most of us would have bought doubles of all of them. I mean I payed $40 for Screamer, and nearly $140 for Skywarp. #WTF# That's why my Thundercracker is a Screamer custom. ;)

Another thing that has always bugged me is scale. Finally after years of waiting I have a Prime and a Megatron that is the same size. The G1 line was even guilty of this.

Pointless and lame gimmicks. That was a big disappointment for a lot of the Animated figures. Deluxe Bulkhead, for example, has a lever on his right arm for, I guess, some kind of "punching action" or something. I don't know. It is just "there".

I actually like the Mini-Cons. They are the "Classics" versions of the old Micromasters. It wasn't the Mini-Cons themselves that were the problem, it was the lame attachment gimmicks to the larger Transformers that was the problem. Having a port to attach a Mini-Con was one thing, but requiring the port DO something just made the Transformer in question weaker.

But then all the gimmicks do @firedevil@ I sometimes wonder how much better a lot of these figures could have been if TRANSFORMING was the "gimmick". I think Beast Wars did it among the best in that regard in that, while they still had gimmicks (like the basic sizes doing the "auto transform" they made up for it by some very well done articulation. With a lot of TFs, they have great articulation, but are completely hampered by kibble, for example or poorly thought out designs where the articulation is almost like an after thought. Deluxe Bulkhead, again as example, has a LOT of leg articulation. But they are so stubby and tiny it is almost completely irrelevant.

Gunhands. That always bugged me @firedevil@ . How the hell useful is it to not have any hands? Not even a claw or something?

Repaintsare kinda iffy for me. We know they are coming for everyline, its been a mainstay since G1.

... I hate repaints of crappy figures. :P

One of the interesting things about G1 was there weren't a lot of straight repaints. They made SOME kind of change, even if small. The notable exceptions being Starscream/Skywarp/Thundercracker and the cassettes. But even if you add in the coneheads, they STILL made change (the wings). Or Prowl/Smokescreen/Bluestreak had subtle little differences. Hell, even the Minibots, the ones most likely to be straight repaints because of their size, were all different (Pipes and Huffer, Windcharger and Tailpipe, Brawn and Outback, etc.).

That's been one of the biggest disappointments. As madman said, its hardly likely to break the bank. I cite the G.I. Joe comic packs for that. They spent the money to remold new heads (Ripper, Buzzer and Thrasher, for example) and G.I. Joe is not even as big as Transformers or Star Wars.

Yeah HOC was awesome. I like Robot Heroes too. I hope they dont cancel the line.

the robot heros line is not done, there are new ones in the stores right now...well i found them at walmart today that is!! mind you there are 2 packs of beast wars(cheetor with blackarachnia, and rattrap with megatron) those are the ones i got...they also had 2 other packs G1 style, sunstreaker with galvatron and hound with blitzwing. these are all in universe packaging!!

and going through the few pics i took at LamerCon, the only other robot heros pic i have is primal with scorpinok!! i've never gotten any "deformed" figures before, no x-men or even the G1 characters, but i like beast wars to much to pass these ones up!! they showed us these at the LamerCon i went to last month!!

on topic----i never liked the cyber planet keys, and we can thank the minicons for those...even the minicon were a stretch...unlocking powers and guns they didn't even know they had...blah!!

What I HATE the MOST is.....sorry, the topic is "The little things" :) (gooosefabaaa)

One little thing I despise is that Hasbro doesn't use more metal in their Transformers. G1 gave us a taste, but if your favorite Transformer was all metal, Masterpiece or not, would you not buy it? I think we all proved THAT when we bought, or wanted to buy Takara's MP-1 Convoy (2003)!!

If you are listening Hasbro - More Metal!! @Jason1@ @band@ @peace@ .....please.

However, Who knows. Maybe we WILL see metal and rubber tires again. #US1#

Too expensive thats why we get them in plastic

Robot Heroes will not go away anytime soon

The Heroes toys

Robot Heroes

Galactic Heroes

Marvel Heroes

Indy Heros

Hasbro likes these because there cheap to produce and if you notice almost all Hasbro lines will have them

GI Joe will get some next year

I hate the Mugs toys but if they were in a G1 version you would see me getting happy about them

I know Robot Heroes arent going anywhere anytime soon but if you look at Hasbros/Takaras past with the small subsidiary lines, they last about 7 waves then go bye bye once all the main characters are made and sometimes when they arent.

For instance

HOC

Attacktix

Both Titanium series

Robotmasters

PVCs

The 2 inch statues

Busts that are licensed out

WST

Alternators

See what I mean

I don't miss metal at all. There's just too many problems that go with using it. It's just not as practical for a number of reasons.

Rubber tires tend to degrade over time. While I do like them, again, in the long run there seems to be too many problems associated with them.

Both do add a more appealing look, but I'd rather have something that can stand the wear and tear a bit better like the plastic does.

I also liked minicons as well. Although I'd rather see them made more like Powermasters, Headmasters, and Targetmasters. The way they were used in Armada in many cases weren't very good, though some weren't bad at all. It was a mixed bag there.

I agree on all counts; I prefer plastic for the most part; paint doesn't chip on plastic, metal toys are easier to break, plastic is less expensive..

I also like minicons; sure there were some bad ones, esp. at the beginning of armada, but more recent ones have been pretty good. The targetmaster ones at the end of the armada line were great.

I understand the practicality and the cost efficiency of plastic, but sometimes I feel like I am already paying too much for some plastic toys, not all of course. When I have a metal figure in my hand, I feel like I really have something. I do not agree with the wear and tear argument. I know alot of TFs in the past have metal on plastic problems, but if they are designed well then it is not an issue. I know some of the new animated TFs will not last as long as my MP Prime, and I'm pretty rough with the Hasbro version.

That's what I think, anyway.

I think the simplistic G1 Transformers saved most of them from paint chipping... I have most of the Binaltech line... and its tough to keep the corners from chipping even on the first transformation... As for loose joints... We want to be able to pose our figures... I dont think its possible to have one without the other... ball joints will get loose...
