G.I.Joe Question & Answers With Hasbro

Recommended Posts

I was just reading the questions over at Hisstank.........it looks like the 25th/Modern era line will stop when the movie figures come out........with the Hall of Heroes being Hasbro's "Gift" to collectors to make way for the movie line. (Thats my wording, I didn't know what I could cut and paste)

I'd rather the "Gift" be them keeping the line going.........cause I'm not buyin any of the movie crap. I've never been into movie figures.......they are always sub-par for the most part and if they are based on the designs I've seen....... #yuk@#

Better grab that "Modern Era" stuff while ya can.......I knew the 25th/Modern stuff was too good to be true.

They may still put out characters in the movie line but I don't have high hopes for that.

I'm guessing you didn't understand what they said/ment.

The 25th Anniversary Line will end. Much like Spy Troops ended to make way for Valor vs. Venom.

The movie line is pretty much the same.

And for those of you who like a good laugh, read the JoeCustoms questions. :) The first one is the most hilarious! (if you've followed JC's attempt to ruin JoeCon)

So they are saying the name of the 25th Anniversary will end but the toys will continue under a new name for the line, 25th to Movie to whatever. Like Star Wars went from the Saga Collection to the 30th Anniversary Collection to the Legacy Collection.

Cool Toy Review: As you know, the question of whether or not this line will continue past 2008 with more updates of classic (ARAH '82-'91) figures is frequently asked; and as of yet, still hasn't been confirmed (or at least clearly). Can you tell us if we can look forward to more updates of classic characters (example, Dusty, Blowtorch, Monkeywrench, Big Boa, Low-Light, Recondo, Rip Cord, etc.) being made in 2009 and beyond? It certainly seems as though this line has made its mark and could sustain its popularity for many years to come!

Hasbro: The plan right now is to continue a classic based line until movie. At movie timing, the line will shift to a movie line look and focus; but classic characters like the ones you called out will be making appearances in this new line. The figures will all be based on 25th anniversary styling, so you will get the quality you are accustomed to.

Kinda ominous. @firedevil@

Before we saw images from the movie, I was OK with the 25th line ending for the movie line. But cool, original characters are going to end so we can get all the Joes in the same black outfit (all the figures with the same mold) just with different heads and accessories. Hasbro has shown how cheap they're willing to be with the 25th line (like repeatedly using the crappy Duke arms that never should have been used in the first place and spitting out tons of Cobra Commander repaints), so I envision the movie line looking a lot like that Street Fighter movie line we saw back in the day (coincidentally, the promo images of the film remind me of Street Fighter the movie).

The G.I. JOE COLLECTORS' CLUB has received the answers from the HASBRO team for the bi-monthly Q&A series. Check out our list of submission questions, along with the answers as provided by the company:

GIJCC Question 1: When can we expect the 25th Anniversary DUKE figure to have a fixed waist ?

Hasbro Answers: Would you settle for fixed arms? Seriously, thanks for the heads up, we will look into this.

GIJCC Question 2: Although the 25A style is esthetically pleasing, it is quite prone to breakage due to the combination of tiny joint pegs, and swivel points sticking. Can something be done to improve the quality control?

Hasbro Answers: Thanks for the feedback, we will send this to the engineering team and see what we can do.

GIJCC Question 3: Will the 25th Anniversary Entertainment packs have any bonus or special features on the DVD's?

Hasbro Answers: No, but with 4 figures, 5 episodes, and a piece of the MASS Device, who could complain?

GIJCC Question 4: Now that there's going to be a Tiger Force FLINT with short sleeves and gloves, can we expect the original version with these features?

Hasbro Answers: We have heard the fans loud and clear on the need for a classic Flint with gloves…sit tight.

GIJCC Question 5: Any plans for new 12 inch AT figures this year like the Wal-Mart versions last year? They seemed to have sold pretty well.

Hasbro Answers: We plan on discussing our exclusive plans at JoeCon…so you will have to wait until then.

These were interesting.

Look at the first one. The question IS....are they going to fix all the damn figures that came with thouse crappy arms?

ah crap! damn stupid movie!

I would have rather heard them say the 25th line will go on hiatus until the movie stuff has its turn.

How could they not keep the RAH stylings going??/ Its the most popular thing they have done in years.

and its not so great that we wil get some classic figures shoved into the movie line... cuz they will have the movie packaging, no??

Hasbro.. why do you always have such a wonderful ability to shoot yourself in the foot?

Bludd's arm was a "tribute" my ass.

From JoeBattleLines:

This was a design decision to pay tribute to the 80's figure and we knew that either way 50% of the fans would not be satisfied. Based on feedback, we are looking into an articulated arm somewhere down the line.

Yes a tribute because the origuinal Bludd did not have articulation in that arm. Why is this so hard to accept by some? It's like the V2 Snake Eyes not having Timber.

Now you can all be happy that a second Bludd is in the works with arm articulation.

I'm more upset about this.

From JoeBattleLines:

4) We saw the Cobra Commander Comic Con exclusive, but we can't see

his articulation because he's behind a podium. Does he have full GIJOE

25th anniversary articulation (ie: ball-jointed hips), or does he have more "Indiana Jones/Star Wars" articulation?

This figure has an Indy/SW articulation. The only way to do this figure was to share the tooling with Indy; but we accepted the change in style because the figure rocks and he was designed to stand at a podium so his waist articulation is less important.

I see what you're saying but I'm not buying it on Hasbro's end.

So the movie line will have figures based on the designs from the movie with an old school figure or 2 thrown in each wave??? Is that what they are getting at.......say for example Dusty is in the first movie wave..........will he be 25th style Dusty or will he be "movie" Dusty. To fit in with the rest of the line?

I can see them doing that.......not the way that most of us think.......like half the line will be movie figures and the other half will be old school 80's updates........I'll be VERY surprised if thats how its done.

I mean its not like toy companies usually do things to keep collectors happy........its usually ass-backwards. Cause you know the movie figures will be all over Wal-mart and Target when they hit. I just can't see them mixing the lines like that.......its either one or the other.

I want my "Modern Era" Dusty.......not "movie" Dusty. You know what I'm saying.

Hoo-boy! That would be awesome.

The other figures (except Doc) would be easy to fix, if they'd just use the upper arms from the new Tiger Force Flint. They all needed a higher roll anyway, they can't get away with being sloppy like the first sergeant and medical officer.

I don't even care about his metal arm - rework EVERYTHING ELSE! (except maybe the chest, which doesn't remind me of Zartan at all... which leads to another problem - ZARTAN!)

Seriously though, it sounds like Hasbro's listening at least! That's a good thing.

JoeCustoms: Has any consideration ever been given to establishing a single figure style (our obvious bias being toward the 25th Anniversary style) that could be used across many of your 3 3/4" properties, enabling the designers to reuse certain body parts and accessories across lines where suitable, possibly saving the company money in molding/design/etc and allowing children and collectors to more easily "mix and match" figures from different lines?

Hasbro: We view each property or brand separately as each needs to be handled in a way that works best for the individual brands. We have no plans for a common format at this time.

Ummm, so I guess only on Joe exclusives they'll skimp and mix and match. @smilepunch@

I knew the movie line was gonna come along and kill the 25th anni. line of joes.

But what do we care for, because everybody always complains about figures being released. And then when Hasbro desides not to make anymore 25th anni. joes, then people complain about that.

So maybe this is a good thing, because now that 25th anni. is gonna be dead in less than a 1year from now there will be no more complaints in the forums.

I will not support the movie line of joes, you can but I will not.

You've misread that.

The 25th Anniversary -STYLE figures WILL continue as part of a continued on-going line running concurrent with the movie figures. Once the movie merchandise has run its course, that "main" line will continue on featuring new figures in the style that is appearing now.

The ONLY thing about the 25th. Ann. line that is disappearing is the label " 25th Anniversary" on the packaging.

Think about it.........why continue to "celebrate" the 25th anniversary of something into the 26th, 27th, 28th years?

Boards were still having problems. I didn't realize it wasn't "current" but that comment is still pertient, is it not? Hasbro is aware we hate those arms, yet we are still seeing them in use.

Joebattlelines was still down so I didn't see that about Major Bludd. I just hope whomever made THAT decision got a nice hard slap upside the head.

Along with the guy you mentioned above (probably the same moron). The figure ROCKS!!!!!! Who the hell says? Didn't they learn ANYTHING by previous examples of bad articulation? I'd imagine it would be cheaper to just sell the podium alone and let US put whatever damn figure we want behind it.

I knew the movie line was gonna come along and kill the 25th anni. line of joes.

@zzzz@

Did it occur that the 2th line and the movie line can run togther, like the way the different TF lines run together?

The line was DESTINED To end. Finite. That was always a given. Irrespective of the movie. In fact, the movie is likely to UP the interest in the line, even if it sucks.
