GIJOE doodles and designs:

ARROW

Recommended Posts

In the process of doing some "spring cleanin' " a week or so ago, I came across some art designs I did on spec for GIJOE over the past two years.

None of these have been off my desk, until now, and I plan on doing nothing with them except maybe for inclusion in my portfolio.

They are pencil ruffs, and I probably will not finish them beyond what you see here.

I've talked about some of these in the forums here before, but now all can see WHAT I have been talking about:

Here's some doodles of established characters; Lady Jaye and Zartan:

Some Snake-Eyes visor studies I did, just to see what variations I could do off of the existing designs.

The next batch are my own designs, for team members of my own creation:

First up: Buzz-gun, a linear induction gunner ( electromagnetic rail-gun) for the Joes.

This is Broadsword, a Joe team SAS-seige breaker, and a buddy of Big Ben.

Lastly here is a teaser--the "working name" is Electro Vipers--but I have a better name for them which I'll reveal later. Only showing part of this guy because I do plan on finishing him (inked) at some point soon.

This is Apogee, a image I first posted in the Fan art section. This is a step-by-step look at the eveolution and tightening of this design from ruff to inks--and is a work in progress.

This is the pencil ruff:

And this is the partial tight:

I have to finish the weapon and the legs, and add a few details. The final tight will becoming soon--I'm lazy, okay. :P

Then I gotta ink it.......<sigh>.

Thank you all for the kind words and compliments.

And I'll be in very close proximity to Mr. Grummett before the end of the year, and I have acquaintances that know him, so...........

All it would take is a fart 'n a whistle....

Okay, here's the final pencil tight of Apogee--pre-rendering (have to add darks and a bit of cross-hatching).

I'm adding in the earlier ruffs again, so everyone can see the evolution.

I'll try to get the inked version done at some point.

Here's the file-card write-up for Apogee:

Deep Space Search and Rescue/ High Orbit Combat Specialist

Code Name: APOGEE

File Name: Dareson, Daniel, D. SN: 200-01-1701 Grade O-6

Primary Military Specialty: Search and Rescue ( Pararescue-jumper)

Secondary Military Specialty: Deep Space Combat Operations.

Birthplace: Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Apogee is a second-generation astronaut, the first in USAF service. He grew up in sight of the famed launchpads in Florida, and got caught up in the mystique of spaceflight, following in his father's footsteps.

Graduated the Air Force Academy, attended PJ (Pararescue-jumper) school and then applied for Space Shuttle duty, and got it. Served as mission specialist and pilot for several launches, and a few missions we cannot talk about. Was transferred on request of Gen. Hawk to the GIJOE Star Brigade.

Tasked with one of the most specialized assignments on the GIJOE team, he's seldom seen on the ground. Instead, he spends about 6 months out of the year in orbit, on standby for any Defiant or Crusader shuttle launches.

Outfitted with a special long-endurance manned manuvering unit, and a high-powered linear induction ( electromagnetic-propelled) railgun firing caseless ammunition. He's the guy that safeguards GIJOE orbital and near-space operations.

" Apogee is a geek, through and through--but in a good way. He can name every science fiction movie ever made, and a few you never even heard of. He's seen them all dozens of times each, and attends sci-fi conventions a couple times a year when he's dirt-side. He's a good man in a fight, and has saved a few Joes hides more than once.

Just watch out that he doesn't try to nerve-pinch any COBRAs on the neck........"
