Best Fantastic 4 figures?

DarthJoe

Recommended Posts

I have Johnny Storm (series 2), Mr. Fantastic (series 5) and The Thing (series 6) from the Toybiz ML line. IMO, Johnny was a pretty crappy figure, and my Mr. Fantastic and Thing are still MOC.

I wanna set up a Fantastic 4 display, but before I open my MOC Mr. Fantastic and Thing, I wanna know if there have been better figures of these characters released...

Also, could someone recommend a better Human Torch than the ML series 2 version, and a nice Sue Storm figure?

I know there have been alot of Fantastic 4 figures released, so I'm sure someone can help me. :D

Oh...and please don't recommend movie versions of toys...I hate movie toys. @lol@

Personally I still think we’ve yet to receive an adequate Invisible Woman or Human Torch. My default Fantastic Four would be HML Mr. Fantastic, Movie Human Torch, FF Boxed Set Invisible Woman, and FF Classics (series 1) Thing. I don’t dislike the original Mr. Fantastic, but I prefer to display him in more of a power-induced manor. I would rather like the Hasbro Human Torch…if it didn’t include that ridiculous Dragon Ball Z hair. Hasbro’s Invisible Woman leaves a lot to be desired. I’m at a loss as to why they didn’t release a translucent version, but even more confused as to why they used that costume. Finally, I’m fond of every Thing that’s been made to date. I don’t really dislike any, though my least favorite would be the bright orange Hasbro version.

My collection has HML Mr. Fantastic, FF Classics Thing (Twist 'N Slam, because I just LOVE that Weiringo-inspired sculpt), and for Human Torch, I use the 'Flame On Human Torch' from the first movie... I'd probably replace him with the FF Classics (the one with Impossible Man), but I haven't been able to track that one down. For Invisible Woman, I'd probably use the HML version (if I could find it).

Well, after some of the suggestions, I was looking at pics, and I don't think I'm gonna open my ML Fantastic and Thing.

I think I'm gonna try to track down:

HML Mr. Fantastic

FF Classics Human Torch

HML Thing or FF Classics Series 1 Thing (Can't decide which I like better)

For Invisible woman...I'm not sure. Anyone think it would be possible to take the movie Sue, and put the HML Head on her body? Or would it look funny?

Personally this is the best combination that matches /besides the movie ones the first two ML Invisible Women figures really didn't have that nice of a face, same with the first Mr Fantastic ....and the first Human Torch was just a little to skinny......

if I were to choose the best Molds and not matching blues... it would be last years Mr.Fantastic, Movie Invisible Girl , the Human Torch from the Classics that I have in the picture....and the Classics Thing (true he did have a Bashing action, but the detail, size and articulation were very nice)

The FF Classics Sue is great too but she suffers from a non matching costome even more than the HFF Sue. I say get the Hasbro Sue DJ as the head is one of the best females head in any ML line and the figure is actually a good sculpt body wise too.

Best FF figures:

ML-2 Human Torch (for classic feel) and the 1st FF movie Light-Up Torch

Box Set FF Legends Thing (angry face and new fingers) & the FF CLassics Wave 1 Thing

1st FF movie Mr Fantastic (with saw hand), the ML-5 version, and the HML wave for the "stretchy" look

Jessica Alba Invisible Woman from the 1st movie & the new HML version

hope that helps (my opinion)

...what??? What on Earth are you talking about? With all your grammatical error, I can scarcely even understand what you‘re saying. You’re ridiculous. You’re obviously under the age of fifteen…I pray to god you are.

I’m a villain here? That’s news to me. When last I checked, I don’t particularly have any enemies around here…except apparently now you…for some reason. And as for Magic 8 Ball, what did he do? We’re just going along with the topic. Your immature nature has brought up something utterly irrelevant. Stop trolling, child!

What the heck is your problem??? They posted their opinion in a civil manner and were actually helping so why are you making silly comments? This is precisely why the stupid arguments and fights starts. Did it ever occur to you that I also was looking for the ideal FF figures for display and this thread is being helpful.

Yee gods. Even though I have two of them, I never realized just how HUGE the Series 2 Thing is. According to Marvel, he's only 6' tall... of course, it's rare that his height in the comics is consistent with that, so it's less of a "Man, they got it wrong!" thing and more of a "Wow, that's one big Ben Grimm!"

xmenstorm1: I actually have that exact Invisible Woman figure as a 'stand-in' until I can track down the HML version. I agree that it's a really good figure... The problem in my case is that I don't think she looks enough like the comics to want to keep her in there.

Then again, I have an X-Men movie Toad in with my Brotherhood figures because I can't stand the actual ML one, and only by the vaguest standards has he looked like that in the comics... He's probably as close to his comics counterpart as Movie Sue is, so I'm pretty sure her 'not looking close enough' is really just me being picky. Movie Sue's still a great figure regardless. :)

Your totally right, this thread has been helpful, I really thought I wanted Series 2 Human Torch, but after hearing that it is not that great I have to do some rethinking.

That is the point of these threads, to point out suggestions that will help people out. I'm getting really sick of xmenstorm1. Seeing this person's posts half completely turned me off to so many of these threads. xmenstorm1 is not even a credible source for information, all we get is "we need a new storm with a cloth cape and video game x-men figures." Until she starts contributing useful or relavant information to these threads, she has no right to bash people like mysteriomenace who are much more knowledgable than her on these topics. Sorry to post this in an informational thread, but I'm just getting fed up, I know I can't be the only one. Anyway sorry for disrupting the real topic again.

Thanks for the helpful information mysteriomenace, no thanks for the interuption xmenstorm1.

nah keep her head on just get the one with the invisible swirling base that one is super posable, it would look funny with a different head.

I would suggest using an all clear version of the invisible girl. That way, you won't have to worry about matching up uniforms or sculpts as much. Personally, I like the F4 Classics version, if you choose to go that route...

The best F4 figures? I would say Mr. Fantastic from HML Series 1. Ben Grimm from ToyBiz Series 2 (I also like FFML Series 1 but the Thing is his head is as small as a Cheeto ball so I don't display him next to other regular sized ML figures). My default Johnny Storm is the Series 1 Movie Human Torch (great use of translucent orange plastic with separately attached flames - very cool). Invisible Girl - I have the Jessica Alba one for now, but once I get Shanna the She-Devil, I will kit bash that head and put it on hers or FFML Sue Storm's. But then again I can put it on Emma Frost's body too!
