What's the deal with the Cable/Marvel Girl 2pack...

Forgive my ignorance, but since Hasbro took over the license, I've been less than impressed with the Marvel offerings in the last year, and kind of lost interest and fell out of the loop.

A few days ago I caught wind of these 2 packs, and was curious about a few things:

1 - When were they released?

2 - Where were they offered? Were they exclusives of some sort, cause I never saw them in Target or Walmart (Don't have a TRU here)?

3 - Can someone hook me up? @lol@

The Cable is way better looking than the Toybiz ML, Imo, and I've been waiting for more X-Force characters forever.

*crosses fingers that we see a Shatterstar in the near future*

dont waste your time with that piece of crap cable

that set sucked, both him and jean

get cannonball and domino

yeah, i have to agree. I was interested in just the Cable figure, since the Jean was utter garbage. But once I saw cable in the box physically it looked pretty bad. the head was puny.

i managed to scoop up these two-packs when they went on clearance. i got the last ones, and the only ones i ever saw. when these came out, i was too lazy to go around looking for them but got pretty lucky towards the end. its like draven said, the distribution for walmart exclusives is pretty lousy. i'm sure all the scalpers out there got their fill since i'm still missing a few figures from the FF Ronan BAF series.

the cannonball and domino set is leagues better than the cable and marvel girl set. but neither of them are worth the $20 mark they were originally priced at.

ebay prices are crazy for these. i'd try to find them at trade/comic shows if there are any around you.

eBay prices crazy? I just checked, and they go for like $10-$15 on eBay, and these are completed listings.

my bad, last time i checked, they were going for like, 30 bucks for the both of em. but then again, that was the starting price and i haven't seen anyone bid on them for that much.

Wow, too bad you didn't post this a few months back. My Wal-Mart was SWIMMING with these poor things. Nobody bought them, they went on clearence, and that was that. There were a ton. Ah well.

Yeah Walmart exclusives are a pain. It seems like every other walmart doesnt get them in. I know my local walmart never got the two packs but was swimming in the FF wave. Yet I went to another walmart and they had(and still might have) literally a hundred of the two packs but not a single FF fig. Wont even mention how big a pain in the ass the Giant Man wave was for me.

got both 2-packs here in the philippines and i have to say that the cable-marvel girl set is really not worth it... jean is really ugly, and i think it's a worthless fig... the domino-cannonball is ok... get that set.

yeah, in the 3 closest walmarts closest to me only 1 had the packs in stock. and it was the only one of them to stock the fantastic four wave as well.

All my Wal-Marts (the 4-5 I frequent every week or two) still have these collecting dust in the discount toy aisles. Search around your Wal-Mart - a lot of times the discount stuff is far far away from the actual toy aisles. These are usually going for $11 each and are keeping the HML FF leftovers, Spider-Man 3 toys, Star Wars TAC coin album, and Jabba's palace entertainer packs company.

Yea, those of us that remained loyal to the line got a couple of really nice two-packs without having to resort to Ebay.

While I'm at it, a big thanks to all you Has-haters who boycotted the line, allowing me to get both sets on markdown for $5 bucks a piece. Sometimes life is good. @loll@

Well, considering over half of my toy collection (GI Joe and Star Wars) was made by Hasbro, I wouldn't say I'm a Hasbro hater. Actually, I really liked She-Hulk and Yellowjacket...but none of the other figures in the second wave interested me. If I could find anything beyond wave 2 in my area, I could maybe have an opinion on some of the other stuff, but since my Walmart has been crammed full of Wave 1 for over a year now, I only have Target to rely on, and it seems like they just keep getting wave 2 over and over again. :(

Basically, I've had access to 5 figures that I was interested in (Banshee, Emma, Herc, Yellowjacket, She-Hulk) over a period of 15 months, so that's contributed more to my lack of interest than anything. The other characters from waves 1 and 2 sucked, IMO.

I am in the same boat, I have collected Joes and TFs for so many years it's hard to full-on hate Hasbro. But the reason I do hate their actions lately is because of the decisions they keep making. They keep taking perfectly good franchises and ruining them with useless changes etc. And they refuse to do the one thing I wanted the most in the past 10 years (use TB molds to make 6" Joes). But overall I have to say that I would rather buy 2 figures out of 5 than have no MLs anymore at all. I hated their new elbows and knees but I am learning to adjust (read: I am swapping parts from other figures to correct it).

Having said that, I am a huge fan of most of the figures they've done which used base molds from TB figures, or at least held the same articulation as TB figures. Banshee, Herc, IM and especially Planet Hulk from series 1, as well as Yellowjacket, Quicksilver, & Xorn from series 2, and Danger, Bucky, & Cyc from series 3 plus the 3 BAFs are pretty nice without mods. The rest I'm buying only for the BAF parts and to use in customs. Although I am going to mod/paint Banshee and Danger at some point.

out of the three WMs in my area, none received the 2-packs, nor have they had anything other than Quicksilver for the past 4 months! hell, at christmas, they had three of the Fantastic 4 figures, and the Spiderman 3 figures only, then when the sales started, out of around 4 cases of each series, only the Mr Fantastic figure was on the shelf. I know the others were not bought up that quickly considering this area usually sees figures sit on pegs till dust collects. Target is just as bad for putting new stuff on the pegs, but the WMs around me just don't care...
