Monkey Wrench Is A TRU Exclusive?!?

Sitting here at work on a day where nothing is going on... I decided to check out some websites including toysrus.com and I did a search on GI Joe and found a weird discovery...

 

They have Monkey Wrench listed as a Toys R Us Exclusive figure and for only $1.98 but not available! I was thinking ok, maybe this is some dealer trying to sell some figures but it's listed by Hasbro...

I saw that as well this morning, had to do a double take.. Is it a 25th anniversary figure or just a GI Joe figure from way back ??

Yep, that's definitely the DTC version of Monkeywrench.

[Outsiders]

While available through some on-line vendors at the end of 2005, Monkey Wrench (v2) is considered a part of the twenty second series (2006). Initially this figure was only available through as DTC (Direct to Consumer), but was later released in Toys R Us stores.

 

Guess this is why it's listed as a TRU exclusive...
