The images look awsome. I love how they stayed true to the costume on some characters, yet they updated others. Despite the updates, the character seems faithful to the comics as in with the superhero getup rather than something realistic like say, costumes like the X-men films.

I think the Comedian is the closest to the original look, although Owl Man isn't too far from the comic. The Silk Spectre is alright looking, although I do wish they would have kept her legs uncovered. Not that I'm some sick pervert, but I think the original idea for the character was to make her as sexy as possible and the leggings detract from that idea. It was Moore inditement of the female superhero stereotype, or at least that's how I've always viewed it.

Rorshach translates beautifully to reality since he's the most "real" character in the book. There is very little "superhero" about him, and the fact that his costume is essentially a trench coast, a Fedora style hat and mask make it easy to craft a costume that doesn't look like it came from Mardi Gras. Ozzymandias is disappointing. I don't like the way they took his flowing dress and turned it into a leather body suit. It looks nothing like the original concept, and I think it goes in the wrong direction. He ostensibly gave up being a superhero to run a corporation so why would he dress like a superhero? Overall though I like the way in which the movie looks to be going. The set pictures are nearly photos of the book and the costumes are almost as spot on.

Quis custodiet, ipsos custodes?

We do and I think we all will.

Let me say, up front, that in my august opinion, WATCHMEN is the greatest super-hero story ever written.

Having said that, I must confess...

I gotta' BAD feeling about this movie...Real bad.

First of all...I'm extremely concerned that they're trying to squeeze a deep, richly-detailed 12-part story into a 2-hour movie. I just don't see how it can be done without sacrificing key elements of the story.

Second, the cast is not exactly full of A-list actors.

And now these pictures. These pics look...Weird. They seem like the fan-boy costumes that Wizard shows each Halloween...Well done Halloween costumes, no doubt, but Halloween costumes, nonetheless.

I dunno'....Maybe I'm wrong. In fact, I sincerely hope I am, as I'm a WATCHMEN-fanatic, and I want this to be good.

Only time will tell...But I gotta' bad feeling.
