My DC rant

Hello, this is my DC rant.

DCUC is a great line, however I am in need of a Black Adam and a Captain Marvel very soon. I also want an Amazing Man, I know he is far from an A-list or even C list, but he has a great look and would make a great addition to the line, plus would spread some great ethinic diversity into the line (they are doing a great job already)

I also would like for better arms regarding the female characters, they look so flimsy, I haven't had a problem so far but they are just too small and thin.

Justice League Unlilmited - This is a line I collect and hate all the same, its great to get these characters BUT they are really poor in the way of action figures. As an addict I will continue to buy them and hate myself for it, in truth I do wish the line would die altogether.

DC New Frontier DVD - A big load of crap and a waste of time for both the movie and extra cd-rom. DC is all aces in the way of animation and storytelling, smashing marvel everytime, however this new movie is a huge blunder, its just boring. There are many DC saga's to explore, next time pick a better storyline. I never read the comic and I'm glad I didn't.

New DC 4 inch figures, I am very mixed about this line, with DCUC, DC Direct, JLU, and Super Friends, enough is enough. I will buy them and hate myself for it. Why is this line coming, what is its purpose, its a cross between JLU and DCUC. every figure I saw at the toy show is what I want for the main line DCUC. I just don't know, it seems its more money to spend, I need a break.

I suppose I could give the cliche' responses of:

You don't have to buy everything. No one is putting a gun to your head. Only get the pieces you enjoy - leave the rest. A hobby is to enjoy - if it is stressing you out this bad then its probably not a good hobby to keep. Etc... etc... etc...

But, there really isn't a point. I like the JLU selection, but not a fan of the articulation. I don't buy them, but my son who is almost 3 loves them and plays with them along with his Spider-Man and Star Wars toys.

I personally enjoyed the New Frontier DVD and the story. I've already watched it 3 times since I got it. I'm hoping they do more based on this continuity and timeline, but hopefully make it a bit longer. I wanted it to be at least 90 - 100 min not just 75. But DC seems to be pushing a lot of different types of animated movies - the Batanime being the next. So whatever floats your boat - just wait for it.

I like the 1:18 scale idea. This is my preferred scale as there is an actual possibility of vehicles/playsets in this type of line. Also, being smaller (and probably around half the price) more can be put out quicker and you will most likely see a lot of characters in this scale first. DCUC will get around to those characters you've listed at some point.

We only know of 3 waves thus far in the DCUC line (well, and apparently Wave 4 is Wonder Woman), but you have to be patient. Its only March and it is a brand new line of figures.

But again, really, don't buy what you don't want. It IS more money to spend. But the point of different type of lines under one franchise (or logo or whatever have you) is to give a wider variety of items for everyone to enjoy. It isn't just to have a few collectors feel the need to buy everything.

LOL!

Man, y'know companies must love people that think this way. All they have to do is dangle something they like in front of these marks, and then make tangental stuff. The marks will buy it as if they are programmed to--even if its "not what they want".

Now if there were only a 100,000 thousand of you......a 1,000,000......talk about a license to print money!

Man, sounds like it may be time for AA (action-figures anonymous...yeah, I know it should be afa but that's not funny...neither is AA? don't judge me!). I completely agree, I love the selection of JLU but hate the quality...so I don't buy em'. Like CapnJefrro said, 3 3/4 is my favorite scale, and it opens many options including wider character selection and vehicles/playsets. I am hoping that we see a better quality out of DCIU than we did at toy fair.

This is a GREAT time to be a DC action figure collector. There are so many choices when it comes to characters, styles and scales. Be grateful that you have these choices and excercise your choice with your dollars. Let Mattel (and DC Direct and Tonner) know what you want by supporting your favorite lines and by NOT supporting the lines that bother you. You have the choice.

Of course, my choice is to buy almost everything. There are a select few things I WON'T buy when it comes to DC, but that's my choice. What's yours?
