In my mind, two of those can be made as a regular action figure and would be a waste of a getting whole wave that people would not spend $80 - $90 of maybe some 2 - 3 unwanted characters to build one BAF.

I feel you man, I am buying the entire wave only for Holocaust.

 

Here's an example of good marketing:

 

I, like Joe, mostly collect X-Men and Spider-man ML's (with the occasional exception).

 

Since ML's began being released in BAF waves there have been 85 individual figures released, not counting non BAF figures or variants (even though you needed the Weapon X variant to complete the Giant Man BAF).

 

Out of those 85 figures I have bought 51 of them. Again, not counting variants, or non BAF figures. Not counting doubles as well (I own three Sentinels).

 

Had it not been for the BAF's, out of that 51 I would have bought 29 figures. Yet again discounting variants or doubles (I've bought Spider-woman twice as the variant is a different character, and four Hydra soldiers to army build).

 

That works out to 22 unwanted figures following the above guidelines. If they were $10.00 each. (and they weren't, it's way more per figure up here) that's $220.00 on unwanted figures.

 

Just brilliant marketing!

 

Don't get me wrong; I'm not damning Toybiz / Hasbro for doing this. I love the BAF's I do have and would love to see what possibilites the future holds but, wow, that's a lot of money to spend on what is basically an accessory to an undesiered figure!

 

I realize it's my decision to buy them, I don't have to own the complete BAF's (and yet for some I do), and it's my money so I'll do with it as I please. I don't regret buying them. I'm just stating what great marketing that is. Worked on me!

and for the last time, Sauron should not be a baf. he is normal size with wing like Vulture and Falcon. if they can make them they can make Sauron as a single pack.

 

and yes stop the X-men BAF for a while. at least for 4 series their is many villains out there that are worthy of a baf. in fact my most wanted baf at the moment is Kurse from thor.

I agree that Sauron does not need to be a BAF, he can be a normal figure no problem.

 

but i can live without a bunch of x-men stuff for now, unless they did a special X-men classics series. give me some normal marvel stuff. Cosmic, Avengers, whatever. just tired of X-men stuff for now.

 

I really want some more Cosmic characters. and box sets.

And the BAF could be Super Awesome Transforming Mega Storm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they could do a wave with a super hero squad pack in of the same character that you can only get by buying the figure.Talk about good promotional strategy, turn those people who are not sure about shs into fans and they may start picking up the line regularly.

Alright, this is ridiculous. There's NO reason why Sauron or even Nimrod should be a BAF. Just because Mattel threw out Metamorpho as their "BAF" and we've gotten a few smaller scale BAFs out of TB and Hasbro doesn't mean the trend should continute. BAFs have been a way to get large scale figures we normally wouldn't get out of a 6" line. Annihilus really shouldn't have been a BAF at all, could have easily been packaged with his wings unattached on the blister behind the figure himself. Sauron? Are you kidding me? Think of the size of some of the standard figures TB put out; Apocalypse, Colossus, several Hulk figures. Unless the figure needs to be bigger than these guys to maintain their scale from the comic, there's no reason why characters like Sauron or even Nimrod need to be a BAF.

Sauron's a definite no, but Nimrod was huge. He wasn't Sentinel height, but he towered over all the X-Men. He's at least as tall as Holocaust, and just right for a BAF. If they ever get around to making a Nimrod, I hope it's styled on Romita's art.

Nimrod is no bigger than Juggernaut, who's not even a BAF. For reference, Juggernaut could be just as large as the Hulk at the most, who's also a non-BAF; so it follows all these three should be regular figures. If Wendigo is a single carded figure and Sasquatch, too, these are bigger than all of them. BAF Nimrod? mehh . . . . Please !! Now Dragon-Man, THAT should be a BAF. ToyBiz made a half sized Dragon-Man. His wing span alone should be a span and a half of Annihilus' wingspan. Same with Ultimo, he could be as big as Fin Fang Foom (in comic books).
