Would Hasbro do the 1990s neon colored figs in 25th ann form?

I hope they skip the 90s neon colored figs or give them a better color scheme. If they are gona do Firefly version2 maybe give him a darker/deep green instead of neon green, for BATv2,traditional BAT colors would do.

i HOPE they do some of the later figures but with less garish and more realistic colors like you suggested.

however i feel they wont do them for awhile until they get some more of the earlier joes out. we have to remember that once the movie ramps up we prob wont see much, if any, joe stuff based on the 80s version since they dont want to 'confuse' the kids.

Geezus H. Crackers! I hope not!

It was the "day-glo" era of GI Joe that got me OUT of collecting them back in the late '80s/early '90s. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was the fact that Zandar and Zarana could both change color like Zartan...yet you could still see them a mile away due to their neon pink and blue outfits and flaming red hair. What was the point of having them be able to "camoflage" themselves in the first place with the color change gimmick?? Then Sci-Fi came in his glow-in-the-dark neon green and silver outfit...then the Techno-Viper sported a neon purple costume, Motor Viper in his neon blue/primary blue getup, Chuckles in his neon "Miami Vice" style hawaiian shirt, etc.

It was suddenly like the Joes and Cobra had had a makeover gone horribly awry by a bunch of 80s Paris fashion designers. This was the era that GI Joe officially left the realm of a somewhat plausible real-world military feel and stepped squarely into the middle of something more akin to bad science fiction. Even the vehicles became more and more outlandish as the figures became more "colorful" on a scale that usually burned your retinas out if you stared directly at them...

If we NEVER see any of the "neon" figures in the 25th line, Hasbro would be doing us a favor.

I would hope not, but if they do I agree with you guys that they need to tone down the "neon" with muted colors.

If this line makes it that far, I would hope that they'd take this opportunity to REDEEM themselves on those ridiculous color schemes, and recreate the theme or whatnot, but in a more appropriate way. Some of the sculpts were fantastic and a theme is just a theme anyway, but bring'em back with some dignity this time.

Now for such figures like the Headhunter Stormtroopers...

DON'T CHANGE A THING!

It would be interesting to see what they do if they decide to do a Sci-Fi figure. He's the most likely, because he was seen in the cartoon, and a lot more people remember him today than, say, Ice Cream Soldier.

I always wanted a RAH Sci-Fi V1 in more appropriate colours, like part of Night Force or something. Even so, if they did a 25th version, I'd like to see an original neon version, and maybe a variant of some sort, like they did with Stalker. I would hope it wouldn't be as hard to find though...

Chuckles should be done as per his V1 look. That's not neon - it's a Hawaiian shirt, because he's undercover(ish). Nothing wrong with that.

I'd prefer they keep with the original color schemes on these earlier characters (like Sci-Fi and Chuckles) as I didn't feel they were garish or too "neon" in their appearances as it was, just for the type of character or "specialty" they were assigned to. Sure...Sci Fi was pretty neon Green and Silver, but that's kinda "SCI FI-ish" anyway, so it was more acceptable than say a 90's BATTLE CORPS character on a non-SCI FI specialty being drapped in neon colors for no good reason, like an Outback, Lifeline or Leatherneck were. :)

Sci Fi, Techno Viper, Chuckles, Zanda, Zarana those are all still classics to me, and I would love to see everyone of them made in the 25th style.

Sure the late 80's early 90's had a few stinkers, but we also saw some great classic characters made.

87 has figs like Crazylegs, Croc Master, Jynx and Tunnel Rat. Each of which I would love to see.

88 we got Hit and Run (who doesnt want him remade in 25th style), Road Pig, and Iron Grenadier.

89 had the classic Ally Viper(who I would kill several kittens for them to remake), Deep Six(although he does need a hemet repaint), and target.

Every year had some great figs that would fit right into the new series. As long as they skip the Mega Marines, Eco Warriors, Star Brigade and a few of the really choice neon guys we will be just fine. I think everybody forgets it wasnt the figures that were mostly dayglo all the time, it was the weapons. I still own several of those neaon blue/pink/yellow sprues.

id like to see them as well. do Ice cream Soldier in a darker Orange and make the neon yellow a black or darker color. there are ways to do it. i liked alot of the figures from the 90's. they are doing the 91 snake eyes and the Ninja force SS so y not do the ICS's or the Long Arms...etc

Great figure, and I wouldn't even mind if they tweaked it from it's original color scheme a tad bit, to look more like the Brazilian version of him...

I always liked the flesh colored face and arms over the green ones, and have never been able to acquire the Brazilian one, so a 25th like this, would be awesome. :)

Well, I personally think any of the past figs are candidates for the 25A treatment....and yes, I would be all for improvments. However, I think there is a whole host of more interesting characters I would like to see made before we get to any of the late 80s/early 90s guys. Just my opinion. ;)

There are a lot of 90's figures I'd like to see done in the 25th figure style. Some with paint schemes that were alright (Range-Viper, Incinerator, Headhunter) and some that would probably need to be changed (Alley-Viper II, Flak-Viper, Mega-Viper).

So far the furthest Hasbro seems to have drawn on inspiration for 25A figures has been up to 1989 (Tiger Force Flint, Python Officer, Snake-Eyes V.3), so it seems their holding off on going into the 90's just yet. However there's certainly a few figures from the 80's I know people would like to see 25'ed but that should probably come with a whole different paint scheme then the original RAH version (Alley-Viper anyone? ).

We may or may not get 25th versions of 90's G.I. Joe and COBRA characters but I strongly doubt they'll come with neon paint jobs. Then again I've come to never underestimate the bad decision making of Hasbro.

Of course, if they start jumpin' TOO far ahead here, it wouldn't technically be considered a 25 anniversary of those particular releases, more like a 12 or 13 year anniversary of them. @lol@

They'll have to wait a few more years before doing us a EFFECTS figure. @smilepunch@

@hmmm@ TM and myself are probably the only two who'd appreciate that.

Im not sure if you were serious or sarcastic, but I actually would love to have those in 25th ann style, someone did a custom version of both of those a while back, they looked real nice. Hell, I would rather have those then the radioactive snake eyes

And I would KILL to have a 25th Anniverary alley viper, preferabley version 1. I dont care if it is bright orange or not, I would buy that one. the yellow one would be ok too.

As a kid I always thought Hit and Run was black... Don't know why!

Although, now, today, I can come up with a lot of "reasons"... None appropriate. :)

I was being serious, i'd just hope they would tone Snake Eyes' brightness down a bit, Stormy on the other hand doesn't need toning down.

I doubt they will get to most of the designs from the 90s. We will possibly see the 1991 Snakes-Eyes. Maybe even the Ninja Force one. And the Ninja Force Storm Shadow. When a Joe like Tollboth is more memorable than Bulletproof to most collectors, the 90s guys don't stand much of a chance of being made.

I'd like to see ALL the RAH figures done. Why the hell not?

As for the colors, well, many of the current 25th do not completey match RAH. Gung-Ho's colors are a different shade from his RAH counterpart, for example.

gungho.jpggungho18.jpg

Not as bright. If...when they do some of the "neon" figures, I think while they will use the same colors, they will subdue them like with Gung-Ho.

The 90's actually had a lot of cool characters. Some of my favorites were from Ninja Force... Storm Shadow's costume, Nunchuk, Slice, Dice... I'm thinking about going into photoshop and playing with colors on the photos on YoJoe to see what they would look like with more realistic colors.

Great example - I think a lot of us forgot how bright V1 Gung Ho was. This is a great way to do, say, Sci-Fi or Alley Vipers, in my opinion.
