Has anybody gotten confirmation from Mattel or WB that "The Batman" show is axed after the season finale on March 8th ?? I'm hearing rumors that March 8th will be the last show and no signs of season 6 at all .. Is this true ? Any links or articles posted ? Sorry I think "The Batman" is a great WB show that should be extended since the show is doing good this year with JLU members..

Thanks,

Dx

P.s. - Please move topic if it belongs some where else.. Thanks!

I dont think it would be Mattel that we ask. Probably we can get answers from WB network.

I really liked The Batman show. Not all the episodes are great but I enjoy watching most of them and see some fresh characters such as Everywhereman or more than one Clayface.

It would be sad if the show is canceled. It's a great show that I follow and with JLU finished, seems like there wont be much good DC cartoons.

Aww man, I really like the show and got into it more and more every season. Ironically I hated the show when it 1st came out and considered myself a diehard batman the animated series fan. Was this one of the fallouts from the writers strike, I know there are shows out there that were not expected to be cancelled but got the ax cause of the strike. Could the new show be tied into the new DC toyline coming out. Most cartoons are meant to be half hour toy commercials anyway.

Confirmed the series is cancelled according to the TV.COM board.

A new unrelated Batman team-up series starts in Fall 2008.

Well it REALLY sucks "The Batman" is done but I just hope the TV series is good.. Batman was good while it lasted :(

That's how it always is, once they have enough episodes to go into syndication they generally can a show....a bit of a downer but what can ya do. Though you have to wonder if the writers strick helped the show into cancalation and syndication a bit early.

But 5 seasons isn't that shabby for an American produced 13 episode/season kid animated series nowadays. Teen Titans hit the same number, and Justice League ended up with something like 4 equivalent seasons.

I do agree it is a bit sad that it takes an UNGODLY successful (or Japanese) series to do any more than 40-odd episode syndication mark.

actually justice league had 6 seasons worth of 13 episode seasons

season 1=26 ep

season 2=26 ep

season 3=13(retitled unlimted)

season 4=13

most shows try to get to the magic animated number of roughly 60. at that point they have enough episodes to play one five days a week with no repeats for three months and are able to to that 4 times a year.

I have been checking on this, though no one is ready to go offically on the record about this yet, it does appear that this is the last season for "The Batman" and a new Batman series is in the works, and my sources have indicated that it will be on Cartoon Network, I should have more specifics to reveal soon.

well all I got to say is that is very disappointing!! Toons seem to end so quickly these days it almost makes me wonder why I collect the figures that come with them... I'm going to have to give some though on if I should ever pick up any more toon toys again after this one, with DCUC out there now I have a better line I can spend my cash on :S

Well, I am sad about "The Batman", but I have always hoped for show like the newly proposed "Brave and the Bold". Now, if we get lucky, then the toy line (if they do one I can't imagine they won't) should be great since Mattel has the Master license for DC. I was really hoping they move Legion of Super Heroes to Cartoon Network, since 4kids is taking over the Kids WB Saturday morning shows. It will be lke watching FOX on 2 stations.....I don't care for their lineup on the FOX network.

In any event, it would make a great hour on Cartoon Network, if they did Brave and the Bold and Legion.

Just as things were getting better with this show too.... *sigh*

I was really looking forward to the JLAers getting more animation time.... :(

Well if everything we have heard about the new series pans out, you should get your wish.

WHAT!?! NO!!!! They can't cancel the show just yet!!! Too many story potentials on this one!

What about the toy line?!?! Is it cancelled too?!?! I hope not! They need to make a Harley Quinn figure! A Green Arrow figure! But mostly a Harley Quinn figure!!! I need the new Harley version!!!!

I was hoping to get Harly, Maxi Zues, Ragdoll, and Green Arrow before they were done, since they still have this season to put out on DVD, they toyline could last at least until they get the last season out on DVD, if Mattel is willing to support it. But this is Mattel we are talking about, so I don't hold out much hope for that. They are the kings of starting something and never going all the way through with it.
