Hot Wheels Standard 1:18 Scale 1960's TV Batmobile Apparently Now Out

It's been reported that the standard verison of the 1:18 scale 1960's T.V. Batmobile is now out, at least in the U.S. It sounds like the U.S. price is arond $30.00. However, according to some reviews, the Standard isn't going to be 100% accurate, but more around 85% accurate. At the same time though, you can customize it to become more accurate and more close to the show, and it's apparently easy to do this as well. I'm not exactly sure on what all the inaccuricies are, but from what I can understand and read, the inaccuricies include the Batphone being bigger, and the steering wheel not being the right type(Or something like that). As well, some areas apparently do require a bit of paint work.

Even it it turns out that the Standard verison isn't going to be 100% accurate, it's still the closest(I mean, 85% is still good enough for me), and it won't bother me, because it still captures the look and feel of the car good enough, not to mention the overall shape. Once this comes to Canada, I'm defently going to get it. Going to have to start keeping an eye out for it before the scaplers get a hold of them all.

You said it! Can't wait to pick this sucker up! I wonder if I will be able to get it on sale like I did the knight rider & batman begins set I managed to score a couple of both of those for me and pogo for around the $10-16 range if you can believe it I have a feeling this sucker is going to fly off shelfs though if the hotwheels version is any indication of popularity

from what I gather, not that much.

the size remains the same but the detail is a bit better on the elite.

The elite you can open the hood and trunk, whereas the standard only the doors open.

also the packaging seems to be a bit different.

 

I figured, instead of buying two versions of the same car, just spend money on the better version...(my 2 cents)

Nice idea with the microman figures Would be easy enough to repaint as well! I too am interested in finding out what the super elite version has on it too hahha! I guess I'll hold off on my purchases till I figure out what the best one to buy is .... I'm with pogo in that you may as well shell out a bit more and get the best of the best on that

I don't think I could see a figure that would go with this car, it's not 'hot wheels' like to do something like that.

BUT

 

they did come up with figures for their Hot Wheels Speed Racer cars...

I just don't think the license has a green light for the figures and I'm sure Barris and co. have a pretty tight lock on what Hot Wheels can and can't do with the batmobile.

 

As far as an RC version...yeah that would be cool.

The only thing I know about the Super Elite verison is that it will be more detailed, maybe more accurate, has more seperate parts used, and will probably cost well over $100(I think a friend of mine told me around $300 if I recall correctly). While I'm sure the Standard verisons will be found in regular retail stores as well as other places, for the Elite and Super Elite, you'll have most likely try either collector hobby stores(Either collector toy stores, or a specialized die-cast/model toy store), a specialized store, maybe comic book stores, maybe speical toy/hobby/comic shows and conventions, and/or online, becuase I've never seen the Hot Wheels Elite toys in regular stores, just in a collector or specialized stores(In Toronto, I've only really recall seeing Hot Wheel Elite toys at a store call Mind Games). Of course, at the same time, this could be different since it's the 1960's T.V. Batmobile, so regular retail stores could still get either the Elite or Super Elite verisons.

 

As for putting figures in the 1:18 scale vehicles, I seem to understand that action figures in the 3.75" and 4" scales are sometimes refered to as 1:18 scale as well. If this is true, then is it possible that G.I. Joe figures can fit in a 1:18 scale vehicle? And if that's the case, since Mattel is going to be coming out with a approximate 4" scale line call DC Infinite Heroes line, then is it possible that any Batman and Robin figures that come out from that line could fit into the 1:18 scale Hot Wheels 1960's T.V. Batmobile(Espeically if the figures have felt capes)? Just something I was thinking about and wondering.

Oh yes, 3 3/4" or 4" figures are essentially 1/18th scale so they should fit with this scale vehicle.

Right now, the best choice at hand is the Microman Batman figure, because he's probably the "best" version of Batman at this scale right now.

Certainly the most articulated.

I'm not expecting the figure to actually fit within the car though, because many of these "accurate" 1/18th scale vehicles ( like Maisto, BBi and Hotwheels) have firewalls that are just to shallow/small to fit the figures legs.

I'd be buying this thing ( the std edition cuz there's NO WAY I'm paying more than $30-40, no matter how much I love this car) to pose the figure getting in and out of the car-- with my Microman Bats and Batgirl ( because Takara has not seen fit to give us a Robin....).
