We just got the carpeting put in up in our newly renovated attic.

So as was the plan my wife had my put all of my stuff up there, which is cool cause now i can display my stuff instead of pile it in the closet or surrounding the computer desk.

Anyway i was looking through a bunch of boxes of MOC Marvel Legends and just said screw it and started opening them up, took quite a while to cut off all those dam twistie-tie things that hold the figure in place.

i am usually an opener but i have had these carded for a while and just could not bring myself to open 'em... until now.

Some of the ones i brokedown and openned:

Destroyer

Phasing Ghost Rider

Phoenix

Iceman

Doombot

Scarlet Witch

Hulk with Torn Shirt

First Appearance Green Hulk

Doc Octopus

Bullseye Variant

Marvel Girl Variant

House of M Spidey (spider sense)

Icons

Venom

Capt America

Dr. Doom

Select

Skrull/Brood

Ghost Rider

DOFP Logan and Kitty

Ultimate Carnage and Dead Gwen

anybody else ever get this manic urge to 'decard' some of your collection??

Well, I can only thank you for making the ones I keep MOC more valuable in the long run. Sweet...

you collect toys to sell them?

ure no collector, your just a retailer/scalper

try baseball cards, toys are for setting up/ playing with.

if u are not going to use them, let the little kids who ACTUALLY want to use them for what they are made for by them, and for retail price.

your a d!ck

Not everyone who collects MOC is a scalper. Alot of people do it, look at Blackcat's collection, she has just about everything ML MOC, and that's the way she enjoys it. There's nothing wrong with that.

Many people view collecting as an investment, but do not intend to sell, they just like to know what they have is valuable. My friend's younger brother collects MOC, and refuses to open any of them to retain their value, yet he'll never part with them, I've had many discussions with him as to why, but have never quite understood his reasons.

I don't really understand the mind set behind it myself, but I don't damn anyone for it. To me collecting is not investing because I do not intend to sell, and I've been at this hobby for a long time so I do have quite a large collection.

Side note: Pictures are coming, I've recently moved and my new "nerd room" is slowly but surely being built. See attached pictures for the WIP.

I actually have quite a few figures that are still MOC or MIB (for example the FF box set) that I've owned for years but, never opened, becasue I did not like it as much as I thought I would after the fact or for whatever other reason I may have had. I've contemplated selling those on Ebay, but again; it's been years and I haven't sold a thing.

Just beacause you're frustrated by not being able to get a Deadpool at a reasonable price (which I can understand), doesn't mean you should be attacking your fellow collectors for being at this hobby for alot longer than you. When Deadpool was new on the shelves he wasn't hard to find.

At the same time: Understand that I am not attacking you either, so don't take it as such. I'm just saying that berating another guy for collecting a different way than you isn't right.

My my, looks like there's definatly a line drawn here between openers & MOC people. & yes, I'm only MOC but I think a lot of you guys are being kinda hard on us MOCs.

Look, I won't BS you. i'd be lieing if I said my being MOC has nothing to do w/increasing the value. But that's not the full extent of it. I'm a pretty warped in the head person so I won't bore you to tears w/all the details of my broken mind.

But long phycological story short, I keep my DCD MOC because I have intamacy issues & fear conecting w/anything that could give me joy on a personal level. Its like I enjoy having them, but I don't want to put my self in a position of careing too much.

Ok enough of the shrink bable. another reason I'm MOC is cause the small hand full of opened toys I do have end up never being played with & collecting an inch of dust. then I end up saying to my self "gee, I wish I had cases or something to protect my toys from dust".

& that's when I give myself an "I should'a had a V8" forhead slap, & realize DUH, I did have just such a thing! Its called the PACKAGEING!

So if I'm never gonna play w/them that much due to physc issues & lack of time. & if there just gonna collect dust, then the logical corse of action would be to keep them MOC, & in the proccess retain a lil value in the doing. No harm in that.

Ok. I should clarify: When it was new on the shelves for me, where I live, I saw them everywhere for a long while after I got my set, which was the case with all of the early Toybiz ML's around here. Once they were released, they were easy to find.

It's not the case anymore. Unless you're looking for HML series 1. That's everywhere, not really anything since then.

I of course don't know what it was like looking for them around other areas. I'm just saying that's what it was like for me.

Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, I took your post that I've read before as you're relatively new at this game. Sorry about that. I also took you're post as if someone keeps MOC to retain value then they must be a scalper. Sorry about that as well.

Misunderstanding. Apologies.

I was going to reply to this post w/ a snarky comment but I figured what's the point. Instead, I'll take the high road. If you really think MLs were/are targeted for little kids, you are mistaken. Also, I see little difference between leaving them MOC and posing them on a shelf. Collecting is collecting no matter how one prefers to do it. I'm definitely not going to go on a public forum & bash people that don't share my philosophy and call them names...

yes i agree. it a matter of preference. i open all my figures. why? cause i don't have the room to do anything else. their is only one i will never open ( even though i'm really tempted) and that's Stan Lee.

Deadpooliscool you need to learn that you are not the only collector here. not saying you don't have a valid point. hell there toys. they're meant to be play with. but some people are too old or are more then "Future investors". if they want to sell them later let them.

Hell if again thing happen to me (God forbid) my sister get smy collect of toys and my other sister get my comic collection. They said they would sell them off and make some money. it their toy now so let thems. it not your toys.
