No American flag...

Yeah, no hint of any red, white & blue. Sad.

No surprise there...

With the amount of "anti-war" sentiment in this country generated by the Afghanistan/Iraq actions, I can imagine that trying to sell this movie to Hollywood execs was just a tad awkward. So they have apparently gone the "Sigma 6" route and stripped anything remotely patriotic from the film. Didn't they even go so far as to turn G.I. JOE into some sort of anacronym...Global Insurgency, something something, etc.? I'll even bet that the Joe team isn't acknowledged to exist to the military, sort of like how Men In Black are overlooked by the US government.

All of this is pure speculation on my part, but none of these things will shock me if they make it into the final movie...

Actually, I think that may be a black and white version.....at least I really hope so. I think this is the same logo that Hiss Tank and the GIJCC use.

If it is, I foresee a Cease and Desist order being handed out by the movie studio, Hasbro or both for copyright infringement sometime in the near future...even though those websites have been using it unchallenged all this time...

No American flag...

No.

For fear of alienating the foreign audience, ie: loosing their money.

So, maybe the pic in your signature should say:

"GI JOE: FOREIGN FRIENDLY, CAPITALIST HERO" ?

Does this then preclude the possibility of the near ubiquitous;

"G.I. Joe is the code for America's daring, highly-trained special mission force. It's purpose; To defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world."

Since the team is billed as American, anyone think that would make Hollywood balk? Maybe they (the production team) would drop American, and make it simply "A daring, highly-trained special mission force." We'd still get the famous tag line, even though the original nature of the team is neutered in favor of feared loss of revenue made possible by the good folks in DC.

It's more or less already been established that G.I. Joe in this film is going to be like Action Force in the sense that it's an international team. As such there is obviously going to be an absence of America references.

That's ridiculous simply based on the name, G.I. Joe. The term "GI" is an American coloquialism that refers to servicemen and women. It's generic and non-specific so it can apply to any branch of the armed forces. I'm not aware of this term being used to refer to troops of other nations, i.e. a Chinese GI so how can you eliminate the American influence? I'm not criticizing you, Pit Viper, merely the notion that a movie about a group of GI's not having ANY reference to America.

I figured they'd use that logo, a play of Hasbro latest Joe logo sans red white and blue.

In the case of the GIJCC, they will NOT recieve such a letter... They are the Official G.I.Joe Collector's Club, and have permission to use the logo...

Ok, Im sorry but this is the lamest attemt to fabricate news I've ever seen. This is NOT some type of offcial GIJoe movie logo. It's simply the name of GIJoe used on the wall at toy fair. I don't know if this movie will be any good or not but using this in anyway shape or form to form an opinion about it is flat out stupid. END OF STORY.

And let me just try clarifie what exactly this is and why seeing a website posting this a some type of breaking news as it being the offical movie logo errks me to an extent.

This if I remeber correctly was a sign on the wall at Hasbro's showroom next to the elevator at Toy Fair where it said something like GIJoe coming in 2009. It was all black on a black wall. Not meant to be an offical "GIJoe Movie" poster or anything. Just simply something someone probably quickly made up to put in this tempory place Hasbro rented out for the weekend for Toy Fair to promote to clients visiting that the movie was coming in 2009. It was never hyped as, this the "OFFICAL GIJoe Movie Logo" in any way shape or form. Im sure the logo will be somthing similar as that this is basically just the GIjoe logo we've seen many times over. But to try and make this as some type of breaking news story is just lame IMO. Someone trying to generate traffic for themselves without checking any facts in any way, and then you guys taking that and trying to turn it into some type of "Un-Patriotic" angle is like trying to make mountains out of ant hills.
