Men, listen to your wives or girlfriends...

It just may net you some gold for your trouble...

Last night, around midnight, my wife looks at me and asks me to go to the 24-hour Walmart for some "feminine hygiene products" (that in itself is TMI, so I'll leave it at that..if you're married, you know this scenerio all too well). Knowing that her particular "problem" could not wait until morning, I reluctantly got dressed, suited up (it was 21 degrees last night) and set out to Walmart, some 18 miles away from our house. The whole trip, I found myself grumbling rather selfishly that there better be SOMETHING in this whole midnight run to make up for the sheer inconvenience of it all...

I got to Walmart just as the night crew was working the pallettes of freight...so on a lark, I made my way over to the toy department with the intent on just browsing for a few minutes. Well, the gods must have heard my grumblings, because here's what I scored, fresh out of the case:

They also had the Fred/Scarface pack too, but I figured that out of the 3 new comic packs, that one will be the easiest to find later on. Granted, I'll probably eat those words, but there's always BBTS if I REALLY want it.

I love Tomax and Xamot! Awesome retro 80s costumes and movable shoulder pauldrons were enough to win me over at first glance. And best of all, they aren't done in horrible bright "comic" colors. These are straight resculpts of the original figures. A LOT of detail went into these two. The sashes and metal collars are removable..and even the wrist communicators on their arms are tiny seperate pieces, not molded as part of the arm itself.

Ace, I'm not so hot on...mainly because he reminds me more of an Enterprise-E crew member wearing a Starfleet spacesuit than an Air Force fighter pilot. And he also has a weird wide-eyed "deer-in-the-headlights" expression on his face. Every single Ace figure that was put on the pegs had this exact expression, so it wasn't a paint error.

Wild Weasel was the better of the two figures in that pack...with many details on his flightsuit. But I have noticed on both WW and the Crimson Twins that the holsters now have knives, pistols, etc. permanently molded in them, similar to Scarlett and the Baroness. Only WW's right hip has a holster with a removable 9mm. The real gem of this figure is the fact that his helmet has removable goggles, revealing his face underneath...something the original figure never had.

I had preordered both of these from BBTS, but cancelled it once I got home.

So the lesson here is this...

Next time your significant other asks you to run an errand that is incredibly embarrassing on your part, there just may be a chance that you could walk away with something that made the trip worth the snickers and stares you get in the checkout line with the box of Kotex under your arm... @hmmm@

Whoa- I hauled the same figures last night too :D And I too left the CG/Scar Face pack on the pegs because I'm sure we'll be seeing both molds sometime down the line.

The twins are pure awesome. The colors are super crisp and there's no sign of any paint mishaps.

Wild Weasel is now my favorite 25th Cobra figure. It's funny that Snow Job is my favorite 25th Joe and the both share the same body. It just works. The removable goggles and holster with the Cobra symbol on it are nice little details that really add to this one. I was pleasantly surprised with Ace. I didn't think he was going to be much of anything, but after opening him and playing around with him, I'd say he's the most solid of all the 25th figures in regards to plastic and joint tightness. Also, the Skystriker symbol on his arm is another nice touch. The only bad thing about this one is the googly eye problem that a lot of people are having.
