Is 3 3/4" scale figures the Wave of the Future?

I hope and pray that 1:18/3¾" scale takes over. They're cheaper, take up less space, allow for vehicles and playsets and they allow for more affordable army building. What's not to love?

Right now I still prefer 6", but 3.75" is getting more and more detailed and articulated that I began collecting the 25th anniversary Joes just a month ago. Aside from that they're far more portable (I felt like I little kid but I brought my Snake Eyes with me in my pocket to a hospital waiting room for my appointment ^_^ ), and they're cheap enough that if I break one its not too big of a deal (unless its a really rare figure). Having cool vehicles and accessories ain't too bad either.

If they added just a bit more articulation and durability I'd probably be completely swayed.

Are you kidding me? The Star Wars line are now getting expensive at stores! As much as 9.99 per figure MOC !

The only single-carded figures ever sold at retail for $9.99 were from the "Vintage Original Trilogy Collection," which was supposedly a high-end, more "limited" line that featured added articulation and a protective clamshell. In other words, it was kind of a rip-off aimed squarely at collectors. It's basically been discontinued.

Star Wars figures ordinarily range from about $6.50 (Wal-Mart) to $8.50 (K-Mart).

Heh, you've obviously never seen a Kohl's store or checked a local one to see if they had SW figures. They do charge $9.99 for the regular figures. Friggin' crazy.

And apparently basic figures are supposedly going up in price by about a buck this year sooner or later. @hmmm@

Absolutely right, it was a Kohl's store I saw it at and some other department store here in Washington.

companies would actually be losing money switching to just 1:18 scale because no one would buy them.

Just because you won't buy them doesn't mean no one will. I bet a lot of parents would rather buy a cheaper smaller figure for their kids than a larger more expensive one. Mostly they would buy them on a whim. While the larger figure are usually gifts.

True yet Kohl's always has been more expensive with toys. If I'm not mistaken they are the ones that charge the most. My KMart charges $8.89 for Star Wars figures. Nonetheless that also means 6 inch figures will be going up in price.
