Toy Fair 2008:Complete Coverage-

Not necessarily. My son (who will be 3 in April) knows Spider-Man (and that he is Peter Parker), Venom (and that he is Edie Brock), Clone Troopers, Batman, Superman, Joker, Optimus Prime, Bumblee Bee, etc... And he has toys of all of them. I'm doing my best to keep him away from those damned ol' video games and keep him into toys as long as possible. Nothing is more fun than playing Spider-Man toys or Batman with him. Technology be damned!

Like you said though... your doing the best to keep him away from the video games... and you encourage him to play with the toys.

Most kid though are more interested in the video games, cell phones, mp3 stuff... as I see around me for the most part. I am not saying every kid is like that I am saying the majority of children I see these days are into the technology moreso than into the figures and playsets.

I saw a recent interview with parents about the new elmo toy that is being hailed the greatest ever made and most of the parents said that their children would probably play with it for 5 mins and then go back to watching tv or playing some electronic device...

It's the sad truth.

On the Version 3 Snake Eyes. Is that the second trench knife in the back pack? And has anyone seen pictures from toyfare anywhere without the night vision goggles on? The Pictures on gijoe.com are not big enough to see the detail of the Figure.

These all look really awesome! I really like the 12" figures (even if they ARE still using molded on clothes >>) and the 3.75" ones look good, but they look too much like the 25th figures and last I checked, you can't really play with those much less pose them properly. How are you supposed to put them in vehicles? Ah well, guess we'll find out
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN IS " ITS THE 80S ALL OVER AGAIN "

Say it while you can. Movie coming

I keep thinking this same exact thing.

Everything has been great so far, but with the upcoming movie, all of this rehashing of 80's stuff is probably gonna go by the wayside, and we'll start getting crappy movie figures.

We should start a petition to stop the production of this movie! @hmmm@

Gi Joe was never meant to become a live-action film when are they going to get it!?!

One could say the same thing about Transformers. The huge, multi-million dollar franchise Transformers movie @smilepunch@ GI Joe could get the coolest movie ever and people would still complain about it. Fans are just never pleased.

Yeah, but movie figures are almost always terrible..........I don't know why its like that but movie figures are usually far lower in every category compared to regular figures IMO.....its almost like Hasbro is buttering us up for the onslaught of movie crap that will come out and peg-warm all over the place like every other movie figure. (with an exception of Transformers this past year)

I'm still open to the movie.....but I never usually buy movie figures.

but if they are using the same designs or what not, then why the hell would they such in any way shape or form I really do think there is no pleasing people, which its cool everyone has their own opinion, but saying stuff is gonna suck before we see anything is really stupid In my opinion.

For something like Transformers... it was easy to pull off not looking chessy because of the CGI for the Transformers but for Chantum Tanning from Step Up to be playing Duke just seems bad. I mean they're are picking these guys that High School girls go crazy over to play beloved characters like Duke.

I can't imagine what the figure is going to look like. Like I said it was just my opinion because I was there in the theaters when movies like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter came out and they just seemed so ridiculous even for that time because they made cartoon/video game characters into realistic scenerios.

The movies did great of course in the box office but that's only because people were curious to see it but these days I see the Mortal Kombat dvd being practically given away in stores.

Again it's just my opinion... if you guys are excited for the film then let it be... I salute you! I hope I will eat my words when it comes out, and that the toys are cool... but until then Marlon Wayans in a Gi Joe movie is beyond me.

Can we get back to talking about toyfair and put the crystal ball away about the GIJOE movie. It never seems to be amaze me that there is so much b**ching following such great images and information. Well we were at peace I guess for one day ;) (yesterday).

Everything looks great and I will be getting a few of each and mutiples of some of them (trouble bubble, BAT and HISS tanks to name a few). I am still a little confused on which HISS is going to come out. As for the animation packs, I hope these do really well to warrant additional packs to come out too. The MASS device is one of the best ideas and I am going to asking if they are thinking about coming out with a Operation Dragonfire set, a 25th Alley Viper would be sweet! Hopefully they also come out with the rest of the cartoon series.

Nobody is "b**ching" here man!

We are just talking. That's what you do in a message board.

Everyone is respecting each others opinion and that's what we should continue to do.

There only so many times we can say I LOVE THESE NEW PICTURES...

I love everything I have seen in these pictures and I will be purchasing it all some more than once but as for "b**tching" there is no one really doing it. We are all just expressing "Opinions"...

When somebody comes in here and says: The movie will suck, is when the b**tching has entered but all I have seen is some saying they see the movie looking good, some saying the movie is something they don't care too much for, and some saying so far from the cast they don't see it being something they will like.

Personally I just don't like the cast so far. I do hope however, that the movie rock, that the toys will rock, and that kids will love it! I never said and won't say that it is good or bad until I sit in the theater and watch the film! ;)

Opps, sorry no one has said the figures will suck, they only said crappy movie/figures and in a Toyfair discussion thread, I would think that we would be discussing about Toyfair and from what we all saw, there were no movie figures or playsets. As far as respecting each others opinions, mine is that some people need to put their crystal balls away (for now) until we start to even see images of the figures, which are almost a year away (at least). B**ching, is the correct word to use IMO ;) , the problem is, it needs to be in another thread "Non Toyfair related" and this the point that I am trying to make.

There is only so many times we can say, we love these figures..... and then what ;)

Last, the comment was not made to anyone specific, please do not jump the gun or take my last post personal, that is why I posted my reply to the forum.

Again, JayC, thanks for the coverage on Toyfair, the images are excellent and I have been at a lot of sites today and there are several people commenting that they saw an image at TNI, and that is a good thing.

I respect that Taz! #US1#

Sorry I assumed you were talking to me I just thought you were replying to my post because it was right after my last one.

Going back to what you said about the animation packs doing well so that would warrant further packs... I some times walk into my local retail stores and I see the entire aisle of 25th Joes empty and even though I am bummed out to see them sold out because I can't get them I am also glad to see that people are buying them and they are getting support!

Like I said, I'm hoping and praying that these vehicles and entertainment packs don't end up as store exclusives...but a gut feeling is telling me that this is exactly what they're going to end up being...making it twice as impossible to track down in my particular neck of the woods...

From my experience, the TRU I work at gets exclusives all the time...ridiculously crappy ones. All the other stores in my area get their exclusives in very small amounts, and the local scalpers/ebayers and hardcore collectors clean them out in practically no time.

oh for the love of God, will you all get over this. The movie is happening, if you dont like the thought or concept, dont go see it. I will be supporting it regardless. We will have JOE toys all over the place, along with Joe stuff in other areas. GI JOE will be advertised to the Kids again. They will have plenty of product in order to make movie toys along with other stuff. There is nothing wrong with having new joe figures in the 25th anniversary style.

I didn't say anything about not wanting the movie to happen. Actually, I'm quite excited to see what they do with it.

The thing I AM against, is Hasbro dropping the direction they're taking the GI Joe line right now (which is great, IMO), and making figures based off of the movie. I have always despised movie figures...with the exception of Transformers...and don't want to see it happen to GI Joe. (Dennis Quaid action figures anyone?) @lol@

If they decide to continue the current line, and add in movie figures as a bonus, that's fine with me...and I hope this is what they do, cause I'm sure we're getting the movie figures one way or another.

OMG, I just saw this news.. This is SO AWESOME!!!

It's got figures, the MASS Device, little props, wetsuit Baroness, it comes with the eps on DVD.. I think all of my childhood fantasies with this series will be fullfilled eternally upon getting these sets!! I've got to go get married real quick so I can have a firstborn to sell to Hasbro for all these! At long last!!

I didn't see that Serpentor was included till after I posted. And didn't know Roadblock was a straight repaint.

Why does Steeler, for example, have a gun holster if its empty? And the Tele-Viper had some interesting gear, which he won't have here.

We've been going thru this for years, it still boggles my mind how the older fans still ask these questions. There is a high volume of very sensitive pre-production stuff being shipped to and assembled at Toy Fair. Lots of times little things get forgotten, prototypes suffer damage in transit, and the people assembling the display have a limited knowledge of what they're doing. Sometimes, *many times* really, what's on display is only indicative of the things we're getting, not *exactly* what we're getting.

Huh? I don't understand what your saying.

I was making a comment on the fact that, 2000 and later almost none of the driver figures came with gear (except maybe a helmet). The only exception I know was the 2005 Hydrofoil.

TF Flint: Something tells me he's getting his hand traded. After all that's the only reason he's here.

I have no idea what that means, but TF Flint is there because he's part of Wave 4 '08.

It's a bit of sarcasm. I think the main reason they included Flint here was because of the gloves issue. They could have used anyone, really, if they wanted a TF redeco.

B.A.T.: I don't think he comes with enough accessories. What's with that big tank on his back? I wonder if both hands are detachable.

The BAT comes with more accessories than the original, 2 backpacks (the second one is for the mutated creeper vines from Marvel #44, the spiked balls on the bottom are the creeper vine pods), 3 different hands, a second head, and a removable "battle damaged" chest-plate! What more do you honestly need here???

I forgot "lol" or something I guess. But thanks for telling me what the second backpack is.

Roadblock: Are he and the other "battle pack" figures cartoon colors?

Hence they come in boxed sets with DVDs of the 5-part miniseries from the Sunbow era. Yes.

 I guess I was used to the gawdy looking colors of the comic packs that these surprised me they didn't have that look.

It was confirmed at Joe Con last year that the movie figures were going to be the same scale/style/construction as the 25th (as George said).

What wasn't confirmed, is that we won't be getting a 25th Airborne that's our regular Airborne. To keep from confusing children, I'm almost certain we'll only get Wayansborne.

-Kevin

Well we still have a year and half till the flick, so we may see him in that time. But I agree that if we don't get him by then we won't see ARAH Airborne, just the movie one. Course with the amount of product they've been throwing out, I think we may get him someplace.

I'm not 100% pleased with the 25th line, only due to the articulation issues I personally find a "fault" with, but they're still pretty awesome little action figures, that hit me with more of the nostalgia aspect of them than anything, and I'm expecting to be collecting them ALL regardless, so it's just chitter chatter with others who want to chitter chatter the finer details of the whole thing, which is what we're all here for anyway.

My negative, pessimism, "glass is half empty" attitude towards the MOVIE chitter chatter, is just my own personal take on it, due to PAST history of such film making attempts and the toys that have come along with them. It's no more "STUPID" to be critical of what MIGHT be, than it is to be flattering of it. Both are being made prematurely, but it's too much fun to chitter chatter about all of it forehand, hence the nature of the beast on these boards. I don't understand the angst expressed over either faction of it.....for good or bad reviews pre release or pre in hand type stuff.

it's just talk, just opinions, it's just assumptions. ;)

I'm excited about evertything we saw at toyfair.

I plan on buying them all.

Thankgod LadyJay was fixed!

My only disappointment is that i thought hasbro was going to reveal

my stuff than that.

Still I'm extremely happy thus far

Regarding the Movie, whether it's cheesy or not, I just hope it's a box office

success like the Transformers and is a big hit with the kids. This will insure another

movie, and maybe hasbro knowing that the line will be backed by another film they

might consider producing some large scale vehicles or playsets.

We are finally getting the Clone Wars AT-TE($99.99).
