Why 3 3/4"?

I've never posted here before, so I apologize if this has been talked to death but why has Hasbro consistently maintained the 3 and 3/4" scale? I understand it allows for more playsets/vehicles and obviously it's cheaper to ship 100 cases of small figures as opposed to 100 cases of large figures, and there is the manufacturing issue with oil and all but I've always been bummed out by the lack of a 6" line. Not to replace the smaller line, because I know that's a sacred thing over here (like with the Joe guys) but a 6" ML or DCUC style line would allow for much greater detail and articulation. You could actually pose the characters as they appear in the movies. Sure you loose the Millenium Falcon and the X-Wing and the TIE Fighters but I'm not asking to eliminate the 3 3/4" line. I just want some more variety. And yes I do own many of the taller figures (can't remember the name of the series) that had the figures in iconic poses but they're glorified statues. I want a Vader that can force choke AND hold a light saber. Has this even been brought to Hasbro/Lucas Ltd.'s attention? Am I beating a dead horse? Is this something that was announced and I don't know since I don't really do Star Wars much?

It has been asked time and time again. Some would love to see it and some wouldn't. A lot of it boils down to any Star Wars collector that has been doing it for some time has a multitude of vehicles, ships, playsets, figures, etc... in the 3-3/4 scale. No one really wants to start over and collect a new size or style. 6" figures would be cool, but would easily be in the $12-$15 price range (since the 3-3/4" sit around $7 currently.)

And Star Wars has such a variety of characters and species and troopers and etc. If you make a Luke - do you make all his iconic costumes or just pick one? Same for Han, Leia, Padme, Anakin/Vader, Obi-Wan, etc... It seems that the void for larger highly articulated figures is filled with the Sideshow and Real Action Heroes from Medicom. Yes they are $50-$150 a pop (and no I don't own any of them.) But they can do damned near any pose from what I've seen.

I just don't think there would be much place or market for a 6" line. You have the Galactic Heroes, Basic, 12", Unleashed, Mighty Muggs, etc.. But you never know.

eh between all the other stuff out there like statues and busts and the SHS whatever type lines and all the other junk they do I don't see why they couldn't do marvel legends styled figures for starwars... Heck look at unleasehd and how many people went gaga over that line up :P Its not a matter of starting over or anything at all like that its just a matter of hasbro taking a chance which for some reason they seem afraid to do or perhaps unable to do?.. Maybe its in a contract or something that we don't know about

Was Epic Force that big a disaster? I don't know since I'm not really into Star Wars as a toy line. Just curious.

I believe so.There was only 9 figures in the line and I remember only seeing five. Never really saw the Stormtrooper,Obi-Wan,Han Solo or Chewbacca figures.

I've also heard rumors of character selection being an issue. With the smaller figures it's always been easier to produce some figure that had one second of airtime in the movie. PLus look at all the people that complain about getting a Wolverine, Iron Man or Hulk all the time in the ML line, those would be the same people that complain about Luke, Han and troopers being made all the time.

If I remember right Obi-Wan, Han, and Chewbacca came out after the line ended as an exclusive three pack.

Yeah but we've all pretty much gotten over that. Plus I've seen about 20 different versions of Luke, Han, and Leia in the 3 3/4" line so it's not like those who already collect Star Wars figures are going to be upset. I'd just love to see a 6" TB ML style line. Give me the core characters. If Hasbro is worried about it, make the figures a retailer exclusive to start and then see how it goes from there.
