Major Update On Ric Flair's WrestleMania XXIV Opponent!

WrestleMania XXIV is expected to be the clumination of Ric Flair's retirement storyline and his final match in WWE. Two names that have been discussed as possible opponents for Flair have been Mr. Kennedy and Shawn Michaels. It now looks like Shawn Michaels will be Flair's final opponent.

 

Two independent sources within WWE have confirmed that the current plan is for Michaels to end Flair's career and that Vince McMahon has already approved the match.

 

We will see what plays out in the coming weeks but that is the current scenario being discussed.

I think that would be wonderful to see Michaels end Flair's career. It would be the final "passing of the torch" between the two best wrestlers and entertainers of their respective eras. If we do get this match at WrestleMania, I hope they are given the opportunity to steal the show.

Yeah,would much rather see Michaels than Kennedy at WM. I mean he's getting his crack at Flair at the next ppv,so why over do it by having Kennedy face Flair twice?

arg I'm torn - ok I admit I'm not the greatest HBK fan but I do respect what he's accomplished in his 20+ years, and when it's all said and done he'd be a better fit that Kennedy. But passing the torch? I'd prefer a younger star so we have a decade or so ahead with him, right now HBK could retire in another 3 years for all we know.

 

For nostalgic sake I'd love to see Steamboat and Flair one more time (I've seen Steamboat come out in recent weeks as part of the keystone cops routine with Slaughter and the rest so he's definitely backstage at the shows). Ultimately it would be cool to see Sting vs Flair for one night - the perfect match ending to WCW, and honestly the perfect match ending to Flair's illustrious career. But we know that's not happening.

 

So I guess HBK is the next best alternative.

I heard that this is HBK's last year.

 

In terms of the match I do believe that HBK should be the one to end Flairs carer. I mean Mr. Kennedy? Who the hell is he to deserve that title? What has he done tomark his status as a legend in this business? Nothing. Michaels is so its only fitting he snds the career of the biggist active wrestlin legend in the WWE today.

I've predicted Micheals would be the one to end Ric's career. It's only fitting. These two were the BEST IN RING PERFORMERS OF ALL-TIME! Shawn idolized Ric more so than HHH did. Its the perfect ending for Flair.

I would have thought it would be HBK or HHH. Since HH already had his shot it makes sense for it to be HBK.
