Silver Savage Customizing process PIC Intensive

First things first, I hated the new FF BAF Ronin set. It's definatly a showing of the degrading craftsmanship of their new product line, but I will admit that I'm actually fond of the Thing figure, and the BAF is great, but I digress.

Was in my local comic shop and spotted one of the Silver Savage Heroclix, seeing how I was not too impressed with the SS from my new set, save the chrome board, I thought immediatly about doing this one. First think I had to do was fix his robot dance hands.

So what I did was the simple top hat cut technique, pinned, (this was my first time doing this so it was really sloppy) then took my micro torch bent the hands in place, and boom Claw

The next step now that the Surfer wasn't going to be doing the robot anymore was to start on the leathery guantlets, leg armaments, and and straps.

For this custom I decided that I was going to attempt electrical tape, pending this is not completed as of this post, I'm still unsure of the painting aspect, however, I was able to cut a nice about thin thread of the tape, and was able to make "straps"

I was going for the layerd effect and I think it worked great.

So ol bad surfer has a huge sword in the comic, so I had to think how I was going to do this one. Simple, I work for a parts company and have lots of tools at my disposal, so this is what I did. Took 3 popscicle sticks, glued them together with gorilla glue, and began the trimming process to make it look like a hilt. Took an old file, and removed it the handle to make the blade, and uses to clear plasic strips removed from the face of a ML Cover. More tape, and here's what happened

and the sword

I took the tip of an X-men Arcahnagel Missle and used it for the gem on his chest, cut some more padding, a little more tape, and this is what I have left

Further I will show why the dremel is here, what I did after this pic was slowly grind away onto his torso cloth to give it more fluid motion, which I'll post later.

So after all the black tape, I decided it didn't work as well as I had hoped, aside from the bicep and forearm posistioning I wasn't very happy, so I scrapped the tape, and went back to flattening foam strips

Later on you will see how that went but now I want to focus on the mace. I had a really old TMNT Slash figure that had the perfect mace in my opinion. So It was time to paint that nast purple with something a little better.

The next obvious step was to figure out how to get the cool electrical effect that I've seen the surfers mace have.....that was actually easy. Took some paperclips, radomly bent the clips, drilled some holes in the mace and this is what happend

Now that this was done, insert pegs into holes

I think the next step for this will be to do some dipping into the rubber to give it some more texture and lining, and complete with white blue paint and this will effectivly be charged.

Okay, now here's where I had the chance to try out the new plastic molding product. All it is is some paper thin sheet of plastic that with a flame is moldable. I replaced the foam loincloth and rearcloth with this material and was very happy with it's results
