they can still leave it like that a cliff ahnger just find soemoen else to be the joker

I agree...!

They can do a Brandon Lee style sequel to the Dark Knight even though when Brandon Lee died the movies that followed the first crow were not too good but still watchable.

It's going to be hard to watch and enjoy but still I am sure Heath like many people involved in the entertainment business would want it to move on.

An odd bit of trivia, call it "synchronicity" or a "twist", though they were in the middle of filming "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" (which, most likely will never be finished), as you all know, the last film that Heath Ledger completed principle shooting for was "The Dark Knight", in which, he played the "Joker". While, the first film he ever had a role in was titled "Clowning Around".

Though cause of death is still unconfirmed reports indicate that this may have been a result of an accidental overdose of some type of sleeping pills. He apprently was having sleeping problems and the police have said there is know indication of foul play.

its really a shame.. very sad..

all indications are that he was a good kid.. and not into drugs or whatever.

its probably an accident... nothing he did.

I don't really care about the Batman movie right now?? a person died.

Yeah I was shocked when I heard about this. It's like my generation's River Phoenix, although he ODd on cocaine. I wonder if playing the Joker had anything to do with this (coupled with his split from his fiance):

"The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result."

Dunno how reliable this is.

All of this "re-write" nonsense...

Especially with the writers strike, it would stand to reason that Nolan will just *gasp* re-cast the Joker for the next film if the character was intended to return. Easy fix, done. Might be a hard pill to swallow if Ledger's portrayal is top notch, but really, as long as the actor chosen to fill in his shoes can pull it off, we're still talking about a guy in makeup. You really aren't going to notice a huge different as long as facial structures aren't drastically different.

With that said, yeah...shame about Ledger.

i just read the news of this loss. i loved heath as an actor. he always has done a perfect job. as i first heard that he was playing the joker, i wasnt sure that he can nail it but when i saw the trailer, he prowed me wrong. he will be remembered for years to come that he has done one of the greatest roles ever. thats what i love with the superhero buisnes. fans will remember everything on there heros. even generations to come will talk about him. my regards to heaths family and every one that knew him, loved him and adored him.

TMZ has learned Heath Ledger was sick with pneumonia when he died today in NY.

Yes, because I trust TMZ to get the facts straight.

CNN is saying the medical examiner said it would take another 10 days to determine how exactly he died. I imagine whether it was accidental or suicidal. I really hope it was just accidental. I'd hate to have suicide attached to his great career.

I agree it won't be the same watching the Dark Knight now. I've always like watching his movies. Watching any of them now just won't be the same.

Honestly, I don't know which would truly be more tragic (of course it is ALL tragic, but just in the matter of the means to the ends.) A tragic depression deep down that no one was aware of and lead to a suicide, or accidentally killing yourself as your career was sky-rocketing. He was only a year older than myself and that is a true splash of cold water to the face.

And it had seemed that the tragic and strange deaths of Hollywood had subsided, damned shame Heath Ledger was the next victim.

Whether it was suicide or an accident or something else, it doesn't change anything for me.

I'm saddened by this news and my opinion of him as an actor and a person won't change regardless of the cause of death.

Heath! You will be missed. You’re star has not shone as brightly as it should but it did shine brightly enough. You made great movies. My personal fave is Knight’s Tale and Brothers Grimm! I love those movies. Looking forward to your version of The Joker this summer. Knowing you from you’re works, it will be great. Have fun in the next life! :D
